ReplyDeleteJoe, Nice effort to change things up. However, I think it is just a little busy graphically. The chopper in particular tends to overpower the readability of the name. Maybe a little smaller or in a different location.

ReplyDeletehow about letting people vote on several different options and see which is chosen? maybe you could invite creatively inspired readers to create and submit their own designs and choose one or let the readers vote on one of the submitted. a prize of a sbynews tshirt for the winning header would be pretty nice.

I saw the one that was busy and I just saw the one that is more simple with Joe's pic... I like the simpler one...just seems to stand out more and catch your eye. Great job!

The first change was too "Alex Jones" This is better even though you have a good face for radio, Joe! :)
ReplyDeleteAwful. I think I liked the old one way better. It does not convey the sense of a news organization at all. Looks like something that was whipped up in Microsoft Paint. What's the point of having your face on it? Spend a few bucks and have a designer do it for you.

ReplyDeleteThe other one was a little busy, but liked the general direction that you were heading in. A good graphics person could make the concept work well. The one that's up today is all about you. I thought you had moved away from that and more to news.

I don't like the vanity pic of Joe with the condom balloon lettering.
Nothing wrong with your looks, Joe, but it looks too ego driven, and that's the one complaint I hear about this blog, even by other supporters.

Use the font form the header that you tried this morning with some of the graphics on this one. Replace the firefighter with Fernando's photo, take the eagle out and move the chopper to the right side of the benner. Keep the graffiti. The firefighter one isn't sharp enough to work with an edgy graphic and with the eagle gone it's less cluttered. Just a thought.
