In an interesting conversation I had last night with a dear friend, I came to learn of something none of you are aware of.
Did YOU know that the Warden at the WCDC asked the County Council to approve giving out ANY Tampons to women incarcerated?
That's right, they cut it out of their budget and unless you can afford to pay for them, you're out of luck!
Some have said they are concerned as to what favors might be given just to get their hand on a Tampon? I personally find this sick and will be contacting our Delegates, Senators and Congressmen.
Oh well, there goes breakfast....that's nasty, baby.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, Rick Pollitt, where are you? Why aren't you doing something about this? Why arent'y you looking into what is going on at the WCDC?
ReplyDeleteInmates should provide their own personal care items. I buy my own tampons, why shouldn't they?
ReplyDeleteThat is just not right! As a woman, you can't help when your cycle comes on; I know is bad timing. But something like that is out of our control.
ReplyDeleteThe warden is an IDIOT, and if the council approves it, well, you know the rest!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTRY the ACLU TOO.
ReplyDeletewhat did women do before tampons were invented? how bout get daily times to donate their used paper reams when they go outta business!
ReplyDeleteA thought... is it possible that pads ARE approved in the budget? If so, I see no reason to supply both. As 9:17 stated I also see no reason for either to be supplied.
ReplyDeleteThere is a clause in the operation of any jail governed by state policy that says any and all profits attained from vending machines, washers, dryers, pool tables, candy machines, etc. are to be used for inmate services.Female items should be provided by these funds instead of funding christmas parties etc.
ReplyDeleteThese items, whether they be sanitary napkins or tampons can be considered a medical need. This most certainly is not a want. Ask your wives or girlfriends how much of a want it is.
ReplyDeleteif anyone has had a loved one incarcerated at the WCDC as I did you know that they are not allowed to bring in their own "personal" items...it is forbidden...so how can a woman provide her own..come on...A womans monthly cycle is a act of nature..she can't control it..next thing you're gonna ask is that they are all fixed so they dont have one...how crude...
ReplyDeleteThey want you to buy them from the commisary.
ReplyDelete10:27:
ReplyDeleteWell, "fixing" the inmates would solve at least two problems. Tampons and numerous children supported by taxpayers.
Love the title of this post. Nice play on words.
ReplyDeleteBUYING all Proctor and Gamble// Tampax products at $20 per share!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteUm, they are called "sanitary" napkins and feminine "hygiene" products for a reason. Not having a means of containing Aunt Flo would be a health risk to employees as well as other inmates. I know we're in a recession, but we haven't lapsed into third-world country status yet, for crying out loud! Skip the snack cakes once a week and buy some freakin' tampons!
ReplyDeleteOMG-reminds me of an old stupid joke-how do you put out a KOtex pad thats on fire ?....
ReplyDeletedrum roll
"TAMP ON it"!
every year wcdc goes through this.and every year the director(devenyns) continues making rediculous cuts in order to meet his budjet reduction cuts because of mismanagement and to say the least suspicious funding shortfalls.on top of all of this, one of his officers says that he is trying to make promotions.funny thing, how can you fire wcdc personnel in order to make budjet cuts and make promotions at the same time? seems to me that the only people that he is asking for BLOOD is the wcdc officers and inmates.what nerve .

Inmates who have money in their commissary accounts are required, as they should be, to purchase their own toiletries, instead of spending all their money on swiss rolls, summer sausage, and ramen noodles. Inmates who have had less than $1.00 in their account for at least a week are considered to be indignant receive "welfare" commissary, which consists of hygeine products such as deoderant and toothpaste. Inmates who have been indignant for a month also get a sheet of paper and a stamped envelope so they can write to someone. If that inmate has money put into their account at a later date, money is subtracted to pay for the items they were given. Tampons should be included in this "welfare" commissary.
