District 1 Candidates On PAC 14 COMMENT

"Thanks for posting this. I watched tonight.

After what was written here, I thought Cynthia Polk would be something. She was as nothing as Shanie (who was a great big nothing). She said "networking" about as often as Louise Smith used to say "audit." Just rambled on like she was running for her church board or something.

The old guy was kind of cool to listen to, but obviously not who you want on a council. Got guts though.

Tim Cheney wasn't bad. The host didn't get him to share many ideas on how to get things done. But at least Cheney seemed to "get it" about a lot of things. Like it's dumb to spend $80 million dollars on a plant to clean up treated sewage going into the river if you build bigger pipes that flush dirty stormwater into it. D'oh! Also made a good connection about crime and business.

I can't say I was overwhelmed by any of them. But I did call a friend in that district tonight and told him the Cheney guy seemed to be the one with the most brains. He's going to try to watch the show when it's on tomorrow. The mayor candidates will be on tomorrow too so I'm going to watch that.

You might want to post for people to watch tomorrow. If I hadn't seen your post today, I'd of missed it. Thanks again."

  3. I was told by a friend that Cynthia Polk was both "semi-witless" and "fragile". I don't think that these are really good qualities for a leader, do you? She seems more the sort to follow someone else's lead and vote with the majority, rather than have useful ideas of her own.
The "old guy" seemed not so well connected to what's going on in the area, so he's not a good pick either. Chaney seemed the most intelligent, most aware of the problems facing the city and District 1, and the most honest of the field of candidates. I would hope that others might see this, too.
As for Shanie, she's not given us much more than blind "vote with the crowd" over the past four years, seeming to wait for some crumbs as a reward. So far, the crumbs have been few and far between.
Sure do hope that lots of people in District 1 see the forums and listen to the candidates, instead of voting for who has the most yard signs, who attends their church or, sorry to say, what color God made them.

  5. If this is the same Cynthia Polk, and I believe it is, that worked at Dresser Industries, do yourselves a big favor and vote for Tim Chaney. I know nothing about him, but he would have to do a better job than someone who never gave 8 hours work in one day while getting paid. Imagine how little she'll do on this salary!
