It sure would be nice to see the old Skateland open again for public skating.
ReplyDeleteI remember when the McIntyres ran the place. There were programs in figure skating, speed skating, and roller hockey, along with public skating. They knew how to do it right!
Those were the "good old days". You didn't have to worry about fights or the use of or dealing of drugs there. It was a great family atmosphere, and parents could drop off their kids without any worries, and pick them up at the end of the session.
With the right steps taken, this could once again be a great facility for both young and old to gather and get some excercise while having a great time socializing.
Some food for thought.
The facility is now owned and used by Mitchell's Martial Arts. They open up the skating rink periodically for fund raising events such as this one.
