  13. Once again, I'm sure Chiefy is sitting back having a cocktail and telling his Staff, call me when it's all over. We need a Police Chief who takes this kind of crap personally and has to raise his Family in this environment. I agree, each Candidate needs to tell each and every one of you, will you fire the Police Chief if you're elected. I'll tell you this though. I have informed ALL Candidated NOT to answer ANYONES questions here unless the person asking the question uses their real name. It's not fair and it's not right.

I just rode by the SPD today and there were 20 or more cars in there parking lot so you must be lying about them being in the shop.

If they allowed take home vehicles then the cars would last longer. Oops, that wouldn't work because none of the city employees live in the city.

I will tell you what is wrong. To many Rental properties and with rentals come a very high crime rate. What do you expect with 75% rental properties in the City of Salisbury. Ask Richard Insley and TJ Maloney, the kings of slumlords.

I am told they are junk to except for the brand new one that just came in for Ghordo. Fatso and See also have fairly new cars, but the rest of the vehicles I have heard about are nothing but junk.

  18. I would like to know if any of the mayor candidates are going to get Webster out? I bet none of you have the balls to answer that question. That makes me wonder if any of you have the carachter to be Mayor of Salisbury and restore her to her eastern shore glory. Its time to man-up or go home.

  19. Doug & others,

I know TWO Candidates right now that say, he's outta there. I just got off the phone with one of them and he said he needed to speak to his Campaign Staff and figure out exactly how to word it but he's going public right away. The other Candidate who I spoke with a couple of hours ago stated he was not going to debate with anonymous people here but assures me the exact moment he can send him packing, he's out of there too.

Take a wild guess who the other TWO Candidates I haven't spoken to recently? Hell, pick one because I've never spoken with Della Penna, or as Shanie calles him, Philapino. I hope that answers everyone's question. Webster is history by 2/3 of the Candidates. I don't consider Della Pinna a Candidate. He's there for the finger food.

  22. What is it going to take, your family member being killed. Ok, so you have been hit in the head several times, now do you have to be killed to realize that this area needs a change. Needs a new start. Please tell me, what will it take to support your police and make the step to change what it is. Aren't you tired of being lied to, tired of being deceived. Salisbury is the 11th worst place in the country to live in, not the state in the entire nation. What will it take. I hope you wake up.

It is in the city, but the city is in the County. Get'm Mike and WCSO. No need to have a city police force that is worthless when we had a fantastic county Sheriff's Office. The city could save millions by allowing the county to take over policing and this would be feasible by paying the county a fair and equitible fee for service.

  24. Ireton and Caldwell both alluded to the fact that some department heads will be history. It can't happen soon enough for this city.

  25. We need a curfew this city is under assault.

  26. Again I will say, unless the punishment exceeds the crime, these acts will continue to grow. Should be a life sentence for committing a felony with a firearm and the death penalty for a felony where you discharge the firearm. Hard time for hard crime! That will deter crime if for no other reason than there would be no repeat offenders!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Law enforcement caught the three criminals in the Pirkle case, and should they catch the one in the Shea shooting and the two in the Wendy's armed robbery, that would be a total of 6 minority citizens arrested in high profile cases. Public schools, faced with suspending 6 minority students for serious offenses, would not do it because they don't want it to look like members of one race are committing most of the mayhem. Even if that is the reality, schools want to ignore reality. Hoodlums must be protected if they are minorities. No one worries about suspending white and Asian hoodlums but percentage-wise they are a much smaller part of the discipline problems.

  29. Hey Big Al Webster nice show you are running. Maybe it is one of those poor abused kids from D.R.I.L.L. you leaked the videos on. Civil case thrown out wow that is the 51% burden proof right. You are a semi-intell person do the math. Clean up your city first. Then you can throws rocks at the old Sheriff all you want. %years have past and you still beat that drum. I wish you had half that much drive when it came to the task of knowing your troops and fighting crime.

Well MSP and WCSO, Delmar, and Fruitland it is up to you guys to get it done. Find these scum bags and lock them up.

No risk for cops here just fast food workers and elderly people trying to get money at an ATM. Hmmmmmmmmm

Hope Monday is a better day for you Salisbury Folks it does not look good. Proaction not reaction will catch these idiots. Stop everything moving. Do the consent search, run the dog. Most criminals are mobile wonder where you heard that before.

I for one am sick and tired of reading this type of post. I will say Joe keep us all informed. Great Job

  31. Salisbury is now known as a prime picking area for criminals from afar. A lawless city.

We should be able to carry a sidearm if the police and politicians are going to stick to the mantra "there is no crime in Salisbury."

I'd rather get caught carrying a gun then be another victum. Enough is Enough.

Can you tell me where this number came from and where I can access the study/report about it? Thank you.

I am so sick of the city crime without city perks that we (two school teachers with graduate degrees) are planning when & where we'll move. Your most educated and those with jobs that are in demand everywhere will leave, and this area will get worse.

I see the whole shore becoming like the crime infested ghettos surrounding Atlantic City.

One thing that stands out from the list is that "fly over country" seems to have the lower crime rates.

  44. The Salisbury Crime Task Force also had a post by the Task Force that stated: You have a 1 in 8 chance of becoming a victim of a violent crime in Salisbury. Thus, making Salisbury the most dangerous place in the state. More dangerous than the big cities. Of course their blog is no longer available as I went there to get the direct quote and source. So, I'm assuming that nothing will come of the Task Force's work.

  45. Like a previous poster, I am a teacher with a Master's degree and could get a job anywhere I want. Fly over country is looking good these days. I'm tired of the crime in this area and looking over my shoulder everytime I leave my house.

I saw a TV interview with Mike a while back, and he said in the interview that most of the complaint calls the Sheriff's dept got were for speeding in Fruitland and Mardela Springs. OK, Mike, forget the speeders. Get these punks. As for me, i'll give a coupla choices: 10MM, .45cal, 44mag, 357mag. And my drive in is open 24hrs. Always hot. Get 'em, Sheriff Lewis. Get 'em.

  48. the "no car" excuse for poor police is absloutely ridiculous!! 50. To those who keep saying "have Mike Lewis take over everything"... Mike Lewis is a great cop. But please people, let's not deify the man. The fact of the matter is, while the city has grown the city police department has not. They are tremendously understaffed and are not omnipresent. Salisbury requires a mayor who will dedicate to improving the police department by increasing its numbers. Can anyone tell me why Ocean City has 107 sworn positions YEAR ROUND and Salisbury has 88. There are many proactive police officers in Salisbury but they are unable to get out there and do what they want to do because they are too busy handling call after call. So those of you deputies who keep posting how bad the city police department is, get over yourselves. You're no better than us, you just have a dedicated leader.

  52. 10:22, I think sub-stations and foot patrols are what is needed in the troubled areas the most. These areas need to be infested with Law Enforcement Officers 24/7. Solves a lot of the car problems right there dont you think. I would also let the Police patrol with shot-guns.

  54. Thank God i dont live in Salisbury. However i do work, play, eat,& shop there. I cant vote on issues on the city level but i can on the County level. I am a registered voter. I will be out on election day. The crime needs to be cleaned up, unfortunately i'm afraid its only going to get worse. I want to know what is going to be done to get these criminals off the streets once and for all. Most are repeat offenders that just get a hand slap in court and then return to the streets to do the same crime or worse again. You are safe nowhere. We need our constitutional rights back to bear arms. If these criminals knew their victims could shoot back and protect themselves they would be more reluctant to pull this crap. Always be aware of your surrounding. Keep your eyes open and use common sense is really all we can do, the laws are most of the time in favor of the criminals. Please keep this in mind come election day and get out and vote, make your voice be heard.

I think the comments speak for themselves, it is about the leadership. I know people are saying SPD, however I think they realize that it is the management that needs to change. THat is why people are saying get rid fo the chief, not the officers. You know as well as I do, that when you pay the lowest you get the lowest qualified, so SPD as well as all other departments have some people that sould not be there. As a whole, from reading the comments, it is about the leadership. You are right your department seems to be about 25 people under staffed.

    ReplyDelete
  56. For people wanting crime data, you can go to the FBI's website. Search crime and Salisbury MD inn Google. You can do the math yourself, and Salisbury city is the worst in MD for crime per capita. That is absolutely ridiculous, what a failure by the chief and mayor. I’m sure they will hang that plaque on their wall when they retire.

The problem is you punk as SPD police officers don't have the balls to stand up for what is right. You don't have the balls to participate in the election.

Is it true that the SPD officers were asked to not participate in the upcoming mayoral election?

    ReplyDelete
  59. Part of the problem is that Salisbury is stretching themselves too thin. They keep annexing these pieces of property that are way off the beaten path from the rest of the city. Just look at Sassafrass. Wendys that was just robbed is another. Now they are eyeballing the old Homestead Dairy. Maybe they should pay attention to the infrastructure, and taxpayers they currently have instead of scurrying around trying to catch more taxdollars which equal more infrastructure (maintenance) and more taxpayers to protect when they obviously canty protect what they have already!!!!!!!!!!!!

  60. i say its time to call to arms. i would bet there are enough angry men and women out there to initiate a war to take back our streets. it is time for corporal punishment. i say we begin our own drive-bys. load up your guns boys. drive down church st, lake st, smith st, isabella...you know all the areas. lean your head out the window, ask for some crack, if anyone acknowledges you, shoot them. simple as that. let that happen a half dozen times on each street and you won't have near as big a problem. sounds harsh, but so is armed robbery, and murder. these areas need curfews and they need to be enforced. these monkeys hangin on the corners are not planning an agenda to better your community. get rid of them.

so that's a knee jerk reaction. bottom line is crime is not un-defeatable. you have to FIGHT it. if we can't rely on politically correct manners, its time for a real CHANGE. not speeches. not press releases. ACTION.

i would love to see some armored vehicles, bullet proof gear, HEAVY arms and a deliberate sweep of high crime areas. the same way our armed forces patrol foreign high tensity war zones. if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time too bad.

ITS TIME TO MAN UP CHIEF. RALLY YOUR TROOPS AND LEAD THEM.

if you need someone on the front line with you ask Joe to post something and build a militia. there are PLENTY of brave men and women out there that would be willing to help curb the crime.

    I WOULD BE THE FIRST.

  61. So, if you see black guys with hoodies and dark clothing and you suspect they're getting ready to commit a crime, are you probably right or are you profiling? Common sense dictates that when most criminals are of a certain age and race and wearing a certain type of clothing you're an idiot to think a 65 year old white grandma is just as likely to rob or shoot you.

As much as I hate to say this,if it looks like a duck and its hanging on the corner in a crime infested "pond",then its a duck.

    ReplyDelete
  63. 2:12 PM,

Sadly, you are correct. Although we are not allowed to say what you said. I commented earlier about the black male 5' 10" wearing a black hoodie that has been robbing places around salisbury for the last 10 years. It must be the same guy right? WRONG!!!!! It is what it is, and people can get mad if they want, but you can't make chicken salad out of chicken poop. Records dont lie no matter how you try to sugar coat them. I dont call it profiling. Lets say you are a beekeeper and work around bees all day. There are several different kinds of bees, some are solid yellow, some are black/yellow, some are all black. If you seemed to get stung the majority of the time from the black/yellow ones, wouldnt you be a little more leery of them, and think they are more likely to sting? I dont call that profiling, I call that common sense.

    thatsreality

  64. Mr. Shea reminds me of the hundreds of innocent students and teachers in this county who are at the mercy of hoodlums every day in our schools. There is always an excuse to let the hoodlums continue to fight and steal and curse and threaten the rest of us. The BOE doesn't want to be politically incorrect and suggest for a moment that many African American kids are out of control. Rules are not made for them and the code of conduct is a joke. They don't intend to do any work but they should let the rest of the kids get an education because someone is going to have to pay taxes to give welfare to the jerks and their many offspring forever. Until Congress cuts welfare for people who do nothing but reproduce there will be no change.

    Wikipedia says:
Africanized honey bees (AHB), known colloquially as "killer bees" or Africanized bees, are hybrids of the African honey bee, Apis mellifera scutellata (not A. m. adansonii; see Collet et al., 2006), with various European honey bees such as the Italian bee A. m. ligustica and A. m. iberiensis.
