Bailey's Taxi

"Joe:

About an hour ago I was driving, doing the speed limit, down the narrow 2 lane Camden Avenue several blocks before the college which contains a double yellow line. A greenish GM station wagon from Bailey's Taxi, with the first three numbers on the Maryland tag being 411, started to ride my bumper and then recklessly spedup and passed me on the left crossing the yellow line. I called the Salisbury police and was told there was nothing they could do. I then called Bailey's and they said they would mention it to the driver.

I have used Bailey's in the past and will no longer do so and urge others to do the same. Such criminal activity could have resulted in a severe accident with horrible consequences. This incident proves that Bailey's does not hire professional or considerate people."

  1. What do you expect when Mr Bailey stood up in a city meeting about regulating taxi drivers and said "If you make the taxi drivers get tested for marijuana, I will be out of business". The driver was probably stoned or trying to keep the delivering the drugs in 30 minutes or less guarantee.

  2. what did you do to make the cab driver pass you in an unsafe manner like that. lets hear the WHOLE story dear

  3. Its funny this came through on the post as just this week, a Bailey's taxi was riding down Route 13 from the Center in the left lane - driving slow in the fast lane! He/She was holding up traffic in the left lane and people were passing me in the right lane. The taxi finally pulled over into the right lane (where he/she should have been when driving 20 mile an hour down 13) - and when I glanced over, they were oblvious to the whole thing. I think they need to go back to Driver's Ed!

  4. So, I don't understand SPD stating "there is nothing we can do"
Aren't they paid to respond to citizens' complaints? Maybe they're just too busy covering up something else.
    Thanks SPD, for NOTHING!

  5. bailey's are good peeps and should not be judged because of this unfortunate incident. plus, they make great irish creme!

  6. yes, that would be great if you could just call up the spd and claim that your neighbor just crossed the center line on your street and could they please come over and issue a ticket? do you even realize how idotic this sounds?

  7. please dont forget the fine low-priced high quality cigarettes that baileys also makes!

  8. Baily's taxi service is notorious for carting around drug dealers while they sell their product.

  9. gotta say that this sounds like one of those senior moments. im willing to bet that you were just "out riding the roads" or on a "sunday drive". the rest of the world has things to do and places to go and if your just taking up space then maybe its time to evaluate what your purpose in being here is.

  10. maybe this is the salisbury police dept's fault?..........maybe? everything else is

  11. Quit talking like a bunch of babies!

First of all, you can call the SPD back and state you want a citation written against this driver. Try to pipck a time of day when you know they're not as busy, that will help. However, they can't tell you they cannot help you.

On top of that you can go to the Commissioner and file a complaint. If you're a credible individual willing to go to Court the day it's scheduled, they too will take your complaint.

When you call back the SPD, IF they deny you again simply ask them, is this protocol or policy that you won't do anything about this?

If you feel strongly enough about this, call them again and if you don't like their answer, go to the commissioner and file a complaint. When you get in front of the Judge, tell them the SPD refused to cooperate with you.

There are laws in which the SPD must write a sitation but you must be credible. They also need to go to Bailey's and ask who the driver was at that time, in that vehicle.

Good Luck. Oh, I should add, yes, I checked into this for you and confirmed this information. Mind you, if there's criminal activity going on at the time, understandably they'll work on that first. That's why I mention going there when things are a bit slower. They'll work with you now. If they don't, get back with me and I'll take it to the States Attorney's Office.

Remember Folks, a woman, (School Teacher) was just hit by a car in that exact area a few weeks ago. This kind of driving, especially commercially is unacceptable. While some may think this is petty, they drive for a living and if they cannot respect the rules of the road by tailgating or illegally passing, someone is eventually going to get seriously hurt.

  12. i have to agree with mr rodgers. in some shape or form the spd is responsible. they are evil.

  13. fred rodgers is right on time, brother. its so nice to hear from such a highly respected citizen.

  14. its a great society we live in that gets uptite about something as petty and meaningless as this. i have no idea what happened here but maybe both sides were in the wrong and if they get together and try to discuss their differences this could be done with. why not have both parties meet at a local watering hole and pound a few choice beverages, share some laughs and put this all behind us. this city has way bigger problems than someone alleged passing illegaly.

  15. Bailey's Taxi is the worst. They should be put out of buisness. I constantly watch there drivers speeding down residential roads, and aggresively drive. Of course the police are never around when you need them. There cars are crap and the people that work for them are just as crappy as the cars.

  16. In the past 2 years, I have actually had the chance to interview at least 5 drivers because of the assistance they applied for which my place of business provides. Only 1 passed the drug test. The others did not get the assistance they applied for because they would not go to the drug treatment program.

  17. Ease up on them! Drug dealers have to get where they're going, especially on weekends.

  18. Bailey's drivers are extremely agressive. I've had to dodge them or slam on the brakes many times to avoid a collision. Whenever I see one of their cars, I get away from it as quickly as safely possible.

  19. I had that happen to me the other day but I thought that stupid S.O.B. wanted to race. I gunned it and wow wouldn't you know it he had to get back in line behind me that's when the fun began man I laid on the brakes and watched that S.O.B. do a nose dive. When he finally started moving again he ran up on my bumper mouthing something so I slowed down to try and hear him. That's when I realized he was swearing at me and I had him do a repeat performance of the nose dive. All I have to say is to hell with them dang taxi cab drivers lets all give em a dose of their own medicine and see how they like it.

  20. I locked up Hakeem Ogunbowale in 1996 on charges of possession with the intent to dist crack cocaine froma Bailey's taxi. I can't recall the sentence. It's been a few years. Baileys has ALWAYS been a scumbag organization.

  21. The police HAVE to witness the ALLEGED traffic violation in order to ISSUE a citation..BUT if it happens TO YOU and no police officer OBSERVED it happen, then it is UP TO YOU to appear before a DISTRICT COURT COMMISSIONER and request a SUMMONS on the OFFENDER to appear in traffic court on your complaint.... A police officer CANNOT SWEAR he OBSERVED the traffic violation OCCUR if he/she was not there to WITNESS it........the only action the police can take is BE ON THE LOOKOUT for the vehicle operating in a wreckless manner..........

You are wrong, they can issue the citation and summons you as a witness. Think about it, how cna they issue citations at accidents? Did they see it? Of course not, the other person has to come to court and testify to the violation.

Okay I will buy your explanation. The only difference I see is both parties involved in the collision are "on the scene" unless it is a hit and run collision and a involved party is still on the scene and something that serious will warrant attempting to locate the offending vehicle.

  27. "This incident proves that Bailey's does not hire professional or considerate people".

REALLY? Thats like complaining that Wal-Mart doesn't hire cashiers with a Masters Degree. Of course they are not hiring the cream of the crop in the job force. With all due respect, decent people are not lining up out the door to apply for a job driving a cab around Salisbury, nor any city for that matter.

  28. they are all idiots... they drive like they got their lic from Kmart. they dont watch what they are doing and dont care neither. Of course the police arent going to do anything Baileys probley pays them such amount of money to leave them alone.. this town is so crooked and money hungry.. Just to be on the safe side GET OUT OF THEIR WAY!!! they are the only ones one the rd. dont u know???

  29. Bailey's also still looks the other way carting people around to make drug deals. They've been doing it for years.

  30. I've witnessed this all the time by Bailey's drivers. Evidently the rules of the road do not apply to them.
