Accident w/Injuries, Truck vs Motorcycle - Fruitland Md.
2/11/2009 - On Wednesday afternoon Sta.3 Fruitland along with Salisbury EMS was alerted for a accident with injuries involving a motorcycle on Camden Ave & Cedar Ln in Fruitland. Engine 301 arrived to find a Jeep Cherokee in the middle of the intersection with a motorcycle lying on its side near the front of the truck. The driver of the motorcycle was ejected from the bike after striking the truck in the front end a thrown about 20 feet away from the impact.
The intersection was shut down for about one hour while fire crews cleaned up the mess and the Maryland State Police could investigate the accident. Salisbury EMS transported one patient from the motorcycle to PRMC in serious condition. The driver of the truck refused treatment at the scene.
As the weather gets nicer people need to be extra aware and watch out for people on bikes. Hope this person is okay.
ReplyDeleteYeah people on bikes, I was coming North On Riverside drive around Sahd Point doing 35 in a 30 and some really Cool Biker crosses the double Yellow solid lines and goes zooming past about 50mph,, Yeah watch for Idiots on bikes,,, He got what he deserved probably,,,
ReplyDeleteThats a terrible thing to say.
ReplyDeleteBy the pics the Jeep was at fault in this one. Appears the driver failed to remain stopped.

ReplyDeleteyou're an A$$!!! you have no clue about the events leading to this disaster...I agree that there are alot of idiots on bikes, but everyone with any sense knows that alot of people have a hard problem seeing bikers. And the statement "he got what he deserves", I hope that you get what you deserve!!! You can not judge all bikers on one incident. Riders, like the one that you had an incident with, make up a small percentage of bikers. My friend, YOU ARE THE IDIOT!!!
rather be an Idiot Than an A$$Wh*{e
ReplyDeleteJust stay off the roads if you cannot OBEY THE LAWS!
anonymous 7:24,
ReplyDeleteWell JR, I thought you were going to stay away from Salisbury News?
I knew you had been visiting all day. You're so easy to read. Ignore this fool Folks, he enjoys the attention of being a complete Idiot and starts stuff like this just to get his rocks off.
Doug I guess people here have never lost a good friend in a motorcycle accident before. I came close myself in 87 when a car ran a red light and got me broadside. I broke my back in two places. No body deserves that.
ReplyDeleteHow is it JR is driving a car with PA tags?
ReplyDeleteI rode my bike the other day from north Salis. to Parsonsburg. During the trip, I had 2 incidents where I had the right of way at a stop sign intersection that the stopped car pulled in front of me. In both instances, I was preparing to turn at the intersection so I was slowing down, but had I been intent on proceeding with my right of way, I would be dead right now.
ReplyDeleteToday, people are used to not seeing bikes on the road due to the cold temps., but as the weather warms, we are all looking forward to driving our 50 mpg vehicles. I ask all to keep an extra look both ways for bikes these next couple of months.
JR,
ReplyDeleteIf you want to meet some nice
bikers , go to the Berlin Barracks
of the State Police. A lot of them
are bikers , I hope they don't
find out who you are. The PA tags
just may do it!
Why are there so many auto related accidents here? I moved from a HUGE metropolitan area and have never seen so many car accidents. Although if you drive around here long enough you will see the lack of driving skill(turn signal usage is non-existent here) and how people around here are used to not paying attention when driving. Everything is slow here and the driving skill follows suit.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the cyclist will fully recover.
And people ask me Why my Harley sits in a foyer of my office...This type of accident happens all the time. People are in such a big hurry to get where they are going. and we dont pay attention to our suroundings This just happend to be a Motorcycle...But people need to think about there driving skills I be interested to know about a cell phone involvment and if this person "just didnt see him" I dont buy it....its not like that is a "blocked corner that you cannot see around....this person was just in to big of a hurry...and so what if the guy was speeding or not....if the guy would have been paying attention it wouldnt have happened!
ReplyDeleteTo my fellow biker.....I hope you are alright and speedy recovery
Lets get a few things straight.
ReplyDeleteI was on this scene and spoke to the Police and to the driver of the truck. Im not going to say who was at fault because thats not my place NOR is it anyone else that post here. All im going to say is son't cast the blame on the driver of the truck just yet! You might be surprised to the outcome of the cause of the accident.
As I have always said before... Just let the police do their job and give us the answers. Thats why we have them.
They're hard to see. You have to double take, then look again. They can move all too easily into a blind spot, something all the newer cars have a lot of.
ReplyDeleteLook left.(cause they'll hit you first) Look right, then look left again.
I nearly hit one once after looking both ways twice.
Whew! Scary!
No matter who is at fault, this looks nasty. I hope both drivers are ok. A speedy recovery to the biker.
ReplyDeleteI am an avid motorcyclist and am on the roads all year. Over the past 7 or 8 years that since cell phones have becoome more affordable, everyone had one mashed to their head while driving.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying that this was the case in this accident but as a whole, drivers don't pay attention to the task at hand.
It is true that some motorcycle riders drive like idiots but the same can be said of auto drivers.
Parents should talk to their kids about using phones while driving, monitor their usage and heed their own advice.
WATCH OUT FOR MOTORCYCLES.
I spoke to a witness who said that the bike passed 3 or 4 cars on the wrong side of the road before he hit the SUV

ReplyDeleteI was there and heard the very same thing.
Im sure the MSP Troopers on scene will find the answers out.
I hope both parties involved recover quickly!
but the jeep didnt even stop for the stop sign I was there and watched him run the stop sign
ReplyDelete11:24 poster...
ReplyDeleteWith a statement like that I feel you should post your name or Joe should not of allowed it!
If you can make that statement then Im sure you will be in court if and when it gets that far. You have have to state your name then, why not do it now.
You have already found the driver of the truck guilty in the COURT OF PUBLIC EYE!
This is about people throwing around rumors that are not facts as of yet! People just let the Police do their job.
Most of all.. Lets pray for both drivers recover from this physicaly and mentaly!
*****
This is one reason I don't like giving photos out because of people saying things that hurt people when they don't know the facts!

ReplyDeletedont get me wrong but if you read your first statement it sounds like you have the motorcyclist at fault. Im not taking sides but I was there and I am talking to the police about it. So yes we will see
who is charged
The jeep stopped at the stopsign because he had to wait for a car which was turning on to cedar lane where the jeep was waiting at the stop sign.
ReplyDeletejust to let all you people know who have the motorcyclist at fault, the police report placed the blame on the irresponsible DRIVER who RAN a stop sign which resulted in this accident. So everyone can stop guessing...just another driver being careless. Watch for motorcycles
ReplyDeletePeople should be more watchful. They should be able to figure out if they are safe when going to wherever. take care peeps.
