  1. I bet any of the passengers on the USAir flight 1549 that had claimed to be atheists on Thursday morning will be attending church on Sunday morning!! The "Miracle on the Hudson had God's hands all over it.

  2. It had nothing to do with religion.

It was basically pilot skill after he was stupid enough to turn off the wrong engine when one failed...

You just wait. When this is all done, it will probably be listed as pilot error.

  3. that chart is a bunch of BS. The "average survival rate" of an airplane chance is more like 0%. I don't know where they got those numbers but look back at all the airplane crashes o the last 50 years and you'll find that almost every single person died on impact.

  4. I don;t care who you are but the pilot skills demonstrated by Captain C.B. Sully Sullenberger were absolutely fantastic.

I am now a fan of Sully:

US Air flies out of Salisbury and I am a regular customer who has flown out of SBY for about 20-years.

If I was on that plane I'll bet those passengers could care less about any chart, any agerages, whether the person next to them believed in Jehovah or Allah...

...but I am sure they all said a prayer to whomever they worship...

IT IS GREAT TO KNOW THEY HAVE SUCH AWESOME PILOTS ON THE ONLY AIRLINE WHO SERVICES OUR AREA THAT HAS A *LOT* OF WATER SURROUNDING THE SHORE!!!

  5. Okay, so I went to the trouble to Google it. The first thing is, that 69% survive. And if you remove the top three, it's 90%. So there. I have crashed my plane 3 times, and built it back. It still flies. That's because I'm a pilot.
The one search item that caught my eye on the FIRST PAGE had in the text, "avoid flying on a plane that's going to crash", I swear! What a concept! WHY did I not think of that one! How did we forget to ask the agent that we bought our tickets from if the plane was going to crash or not? Have you ever asked this? I haven't! I guess somewhere this must be a predictable event. I need to get a ticket to fly there and live...

  6. Barry:

    Have you ever asked this?

I ask this question EVERY TIME I fly.

When eating out at a new place for the first time I ask the waiter or waitress "is the food here any good?" every time.

When getting off a commercial (heck or private for that matter) I always thank the pilot for a landing we could walk away from.
