States Attorney Davis Ruark Commends WBI & MSP

"I want to praise the combined efforts of the Wicomico Bureau of Investigation and the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit. The commitment of the men and women assigned to these two units and the extraordinary efforts of these exceptional law enforcement officers resulted in the closure of this egregious crime and the arrest of the three defendants in a very short period of time.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Victim's family. We had the opportunity to meet with the Victim's mother and sister yesterday afternoon. Both praised the professionalism and the caring of the investigators assigned to this case, and both expressed gratitude for the caring that those involved with the investigation displayed during this most difficult time.

Davis R. Ruark
State's Attorney for Wicomico County"

  1. What will the plea deal be for this case?

  2. That is a ridiculous statement. A young lady has had her life snatched away from her in her prime and the kids have thrown there lives away. The investigators got these Killers off the street in record time and they deserve our praise for that. Mr Ruark is standing up here lately and taking control trying to move progressively forward with all the crime in the city. Give the man a chance before you throw rocks at him. This could be the start of a new era in Salibury.

  3. It won't happen before the next election. Someone needs to step up to the plate who has the will for justice to be done. I'm taking nothing away from the law enforcers. They did a great job to have 3 arrested within 24 hours. Congradulations! Let's see how the other half of this equation performs.

  4. You can tell election time is right around the corner. I bet the State Attorney's Office starts prosecuting more cases.

  5. hard to give davis ruark any type of respect in all his out goings, due to his drinking and driving incident, personally man should have been fired, just goes to show how crooked our county can be!

  6. I can't believe you'd say that. He was charged and sentenced and under the judgement set upon him he could not be fired. We're all human and we all make mistakes. Some more often than others and the ones that do it more often are the ones who go to jail and get fired. Davis learned his lesson and will never go back there again. He's a better man to have experienced it.

  7. Sometime maybe Davis can explain why over 98% of the charges listed in Court Briefs are nol prossed or put on the stet docket. Are people being arrested/charged when there is no evidence or is the justice system letting them go? Why do police officers bother to arrest them? Take a look at Court Briefs in the DT tomorrow.

  8. I know everyone is bragging on the great job done by our police department but I know for a fact that the whole thing could have been avoided all together and this kind young lady would still be alive. The fact is these 3 low life good for nothings at around 2am that same morning robbed a young man at knife point on snow hill road in front of Pepsi. He managed to pull out if his shirt with only a small cut from the knife on his upper arm.He saw a police car at the light by ED supply and ran screaming toward them. He told the CITY police officer what had happened and SHE kept telling to calm down and stop yelling at her. After a few min. she went down the road and came back with his shirt and his hat that had been cut up by the 3 black(2 female 1 male) suspects. These people were the same 3 that killed Anitra Pirkle About 18 hrs. later. So I say GREAT JOB!!! if the job had been done right the 3 would have been arrested and off the streets and NOBODY would of had to die.So if anyone wants to get to the bottom of this call our city fellows and ask them WHY they did nothing!

  9. You want to see the crime reduced in the city, give them the resources and man power they need. Then just maybe a message could get sent that were not going to take it anymore. If you push herion and cocain on the children, or you go out robbing people who are just trying to live a decent life we will hunt you down, take you to court and once convicted we will hammer your sss as hard as we can under the letter of the LAW. This is our town, our homes and our eastern shore memories, Its time we send a message NO MORE.

  10. Sad to say but this might be what he needs to hang on to his elected seat.

  11. Doug Wilkerson, I agree with you but you forgot one very important detail. The city needs a leader that will work with the police officers not against them. One that will allow them to do their jobs not bind their hands. One that is not afraid to admit there are gangs, drugs and rising crime in our city. Until then all the money and man power in the world won't help Salisbury.

  12. That may be true, but I feel the tide turning in my bones. So hes going to have to get with the program or get lost, because I think the citizens of Salisbury have had enough. They are not going to continue to tolerate any of this. This is not what the eastern shore is. The Mayor is anchient history, shes yesterdays news and anyone who rode that coat tail is now standing in the light of day and visible to all.

  13. The difference between a man like Davis RuarK and the people he prosecutes is having the ability to learn. Without knowing these little thugs, I would guess they have never been an asset to our society in their short miserable lives. Now they a going to be a lifelong liability to me as a taxpayer, but the again they have probably been a liability all along. What a waste of space these thugs are. To all of you bleeding hearts who are going to say they are just kids, or they just need a chance, or their parents weren't there for them, or it's society's fault for not giving them the opportunity to succeed, I say BULLSHIT! They are a product of a culture that doesn't value life. The best thing to do with these wild animals(see mugshots) is to put them in the cage with the rest, because unlike Davis Ruark, rehab for them is not going to happen. He made a mistake in judgment. He deals with this kind of garbage daily, and you want to bring it up here? This has not a damn thing to do with elections either, you morons. If you think these officials had elections on their mind when this call came in, you are eligible for your own Darwin. To the residents of Salisbury, you better make the trip to Gander Mountain today. You can buy a shotgun very cheap. A 12 gauge with buckshot is a very fine deterrent.

  14. How sad for our whole Justice system if this is true.
I hope someone follows up and the truth gets told. It rarely does in salisbury anymore, unless it comes from outside of official channels. Like here.

  15. Maybe the First 48 Hours on A&E should be filmed in Salisbury. Great job law enforcement!! My condolences to the family for their loss. I pray that justice is served!!

  16. I'm not impressed by Ruark's accolades. Actions speak louder than words. Ruark's words do not match his actions!

  17. Say it isnt so Joe ! Im sorry your pal Davis' days are numbered in this here county. Maybe he can get a job with your "dirty" bakers "dozen". But as far as him being to foul up any longer? Uh Uh . Hes toast. You may forgive and forget but the masses are just going to forgive this time.

Thanks for the laughs Davis. Its been real but it aint been nice.

  18. Although you brought down that bear of a mayor , I think it is a very big bite to try and save Ruark for all the mistakes he has made. Don't be choked trying to swallow that one. He made his bed now let him sleep in it.

That is the system everywhere not just here. Look around

  20. So, a comgined effort brings quick efficent and more importantly quality arrests. Hummmmmm, just think if this are combined its resources...
Time to work smart instead of hard everytime.

  21. off topic i know but if Ruark continues to drive by my house really fast anymore im gonna beat him with a toaster.

  22. If the SA office thinks they have a heavy work load they should be public defenders and they'd know what a real case load was with very little resources.

Just because someone can't afford an attorney doen't make them a criminal.

  23. BackinBerlin:

You are right. The parents of these thugs have been lifelong liabilities as well!

  24. The Public Defender's get paid more and have better benefits though.

  25. NEWS FLASH!!!!! Being involved with the family as they prepare for Anitra's funeral and listening to family conversations about the wonderful support received from various persons/organizations....I must say that while I heard accolades about Mike Lewis and how he took the time to make personal phone calls to them, I find it interesting that they don't recall AT ALL a conversation with Davis Ruark about anything. Perhaps he was drinking when he included himself in the conversation with Anitra's family.

  26. Who we kidding now? Public defenders work for the state. To accept one of you guys is like signing a guilty confession.

Your saleries are paid through the fines that are assessed by the courts. with out prejudice? You want your next check dont you ?

Are you responsible to keeping dailey flow charts of the amount of money you have made the courts verses the cost or over heads ?

Because most dont mention it dont mean they dont know this . What a racket. Take away are constitutional rights to defend our selves and then defend us so poorly that it cost us .

Just saying, Bye bye D.R. your political career is over before it got started. Drink your troubles away and let some one younger and more able to take the reins.Cause your never going to become a Judge.

The taking has gone on long enough, its time for Right to kick the butt of Might. We want our county back. No more highest tax rates for the lowest amount of Representation posible. We will come together if something dosent change ! Not a threat but a strong hint of what society will become if there isnt some accountibility provided sooner or later.

  27. Davis, you dont know what your commends mean to us. You really dont.

  28. I think the point of this post is to say what a good job the detectives and deputies at the scene did.

Our prayers are with the Pirkle family and this community.

I hope the community comes together some day.
