PETA Attempts To Make Fish More Adorable

"Sea kittens" is the new term being used by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, for the creatures they believe are in dire need of an image makeover: fish.

"PETA thought that by renaming fish sea kittens, compassionate people who would never dream of hurting a dog or a cat might extend that sympathy to fish, or sea kittens," PETA campaign coordinator Ashley Byrne says.

  3. Sorry, PETA, but I'm having tuna for dinner tonight...They grocery store guaranteed me that the fish died of natural causes-meaning that somebody hooked it, filleted it up and packaged it and I am eating it because, NATURALLY, I don't want to starve...But don't worry, I like it rare so that the Tuna won't hurt as much when I cook it. I also went one step futher to make it feel better and named it Tony, Tony the Tuna.

    Nice try, but this is rediculous...I suppose we should treat cows like gerbals as well?

  6. well in that case I'll make sure, the first chance I get...I'm going to impale a few with a piece of steel, suffocate them in a bucket and hurl them over an open flame...hopefully before they quit kick'n entirely!
    ..and maybe even celebrate it all with cornbread!

    DANG! Won't that hurt then. I remember talk of certain groups using gerbils for pleasure several years ago.

  12. Come on joe, why give PETA to opportunity to have all your readers hit their site. PETA don't think with a full brain. Have been at a dog show where they came through and let dogs out of crates to run free on a major highway. Does that sound like a person who truly cares about the treatment of animals? They also made it a point to let people know that it was PETA.

  13. These people are shameful. My family and I only eat animals that I kill or catch. We eat deer almost every night during the winter. In the spring i eat a lot of tuna that I personally catch off the coast of Carolina. We eat more rock fish and flounder than should be legal in the spring and summer. Then when late summer and fall come around we eat fresh mako and more rock fish. Then we are back to bambi. Thank god for the 2nd amendment and all the oil drilling so I can keep my boat full of gas. PETA SUX!

  14. I want PETA do do something about fleas. My dog, may he rest in peace, died of old age but no matter what treatment I used, the fleas were a part of life. Please PETA, focus on fleas. They make a pet's life miserable and I don't think they have brains.

  15. Cindy;

    Where is your compassion. Fleas have feelings too. How could you be so cruel.
    You are probably one of those bacti haters that wash your hands in warm soapy water causing them cellular discomfort.

  18. Peta needs to learn respect for nature & nature's God. Being at the top of the omnivorous food chain is clearly nature's way.

    In the Bible, God preferred Abel's offering of meat over his brother's offering of vegetables.
    Being a crazy PETA type, Cain killed Able because God had "no respect" for his offering of vegetables.
    If meat is good enough for God & nature, it's good enough for me!
    Take that PETA!

  19. Well, if you're going to say "not bad for a liberal," let me also state that I don't like the ACLU, either.
