John Cannon Says The County Council Meeting Is On For Tomorrow
"While tomorrow is a monumental event for history, it's business as usual for the County Council." Mr. Cannon went on to say that my call was the only call he had received concerning the County Council holding a meeting on the Presidential Inauguration Day.
Mr. Cannon went on to remind everyone that the meeting will be re-recorded on PAC 14, unlike the City Council's Work Session. He also mentioned that tomorrow is not a Special Council Meeting. It's not like we're having a meeting on the West Side Park or anything like that. He then said, IF there was something like that on the agenda he could clearly see every one's concern.
So the County Council Meeting will be on at 10:00 AM Tuesday morning.
This just came in.......
"Besides holding a meeting when a sizeable number of Wicomico County citizens want to watch the Inauguration, the County Council is saving the best for last – to be discussed in another closed session, scheduled to start at 1:15 – "Land Acquisition (West Metro Core Park and Youth and Civic Center)."
It seems that the cash strapped county is still trying to buy that land near Hebron for a park. The owner wanted $13,000 per acre, and the County has gotten it appraised, but apparently won’t disclose the estimated value to the public.
And the County Exec. still wants to also buy land on Glen Avenue opposite the Civic Center."
Hiss. . .Boo!
ReplyDeleteRight, Mr. Cannon. There is no comparison between the County Council and the City Council.
ReplyDeleteI applaud the county council.
The City Council, on the other hand, is wrong to schedule a special session, then reschedule it to it conflicts with the inauguration and a time the public can't be there. Look at the items on that agenda you posted!
Will Walmart allow Muir Boda off with such short notice? If he's there I'm calling Walmart to see if he called out sick
ReplyDeleteLouise Smith has insulted all city residents regardless of race. She's a disgrace.
ReplyDeleteJoe:
ReplyDeleteThanks for trying. I'm not surprised by the outcome.
VIVA LA TAX CAP!
ReplyDeleteRIGHT, RICKY
If we don't get our $14 million dollar TIF back the city should sieze and sell that property to the county, fund the police department.
ReplyDeleteOur county excutive doing business with the guys that own the old mall property sounds very fishy! So much for transparency in our local gov't.Pollit has not made any leadership changes after the landfill scandal and now wants to buy land from the Salisbury Mall Assoc.LLC I would hope the price per acre is really cheap considering the old mall project is on shakey ground to begin with. I for one can't wait till the next election.
ReplyDeleteSTOP spending money! We the taxpayers have had to cut back on food, enertainment, heat just so we can pay the taxes. Halt spending!!! Read our lips...
ReplyDeleteANON 3:13 I BELIEVE IT WILL BE 5 MILLION FOR FIVE ACRES.
ReplyDeleteI will go on the record right now saying Rick Pollitt swore to me they, (the County) would never pay a dime for that land. He said they may exchange it for something else that they own but they would never pay for it.
ReplyDeleteNow don't come back saying whatever else they own was paid for by taxpayers, I know that. I'm simply saying they would not use new money to pay for that land. That was his promise.
Dear Mr. Pollitt:
ReplyDeleteWhen you ran, you said that your administration was going to be "transparent", but it does not seem to be happening. What does the appraisal for that farm say?
Why is it needed to do another closed meeting to discuss buying that land and the mall property?
Joe:
ReplyDeleteBy this time tomorrow we will be drowning in "Obamabucks" and can buy whatever Rick Pollitt wants no matter the cost!
Why isn't the Salisbury Council meeting at the normal time for its work sessions (4:30 PM)? Is Shanie going to one of those balls in DC tomorrow night?
ReplyDelete4:07 -
ReplyDeleteWould you believe that Pollitt even has a "public info. officer" paid for by the taxpayer?
C'est vrai!
John Cannon must like to buy property, someone told me he owns a slew of slum houses in the City. If we want transparency, we need all of our government officials to tell us how they are personally connected to these projects, or not.
