The Worcester County Arts Council’s Student Scholarship award program is under way. The Arts Council is offering again art scholarships to graduating seniors who are Worcester County residents interested in pursuing academic careers in the arts.

Graduating seniors, who will major in the visual, performing, music or media arts, are encouraged to apply. Scholarships are also available to college art majors wishing to continue their education in the arts.

This is a merit scholarship and award decisions are based on evaluation of talent, dedication and potential, not financial need.

Applications must be received by April 1, 2009 at the Worcester County Arts Council, 6 Jefferson Street, Berlin, Maryland. Applicants are judged on their visual, dramatic or musical presentations in the form of DVD, CD, or video recordings. Applications are available at the Worcester County high schools through the guidance offices and are also available at the Arts Council’s office and on the web: www.worcestercountyartscouncil.org under Art Scholarships.
