  1. These are hilarious! I agree with the english thing though...It is absolutely ridiculous that people can reside here (Legal and illegal)and not even be able to speak english! But I'll tell you why it will never change-the U.S. has never declared an official national language. We are one of only a hand full of countries that do not have an official national language. Since mid 2007 Senate Bill S.1335 has been floating out there to get the ball rolling on establishing a national language, but some believe that it goes against what this country was founded on-you know; give me your tired, your poor, your non-english speaking huddled masses.... Imagine how much money is spent by the government for not having a national language! Everything that the government publishes, says or documents has to be in any language requested! Even corporations have to do this-if they don't it's considered discrimination. Now, granted, the one we usually hear is "Para espanol, oprima el numero dos." But how nice would it be to just not hear that? Or maybe they can replace it with "If you are a legal, tax paying citizen and can understand this message, press 2 otherwise no habla ingles? ir a casa! (No speaka da english? GO HOME)"

  2. That's funny! I sell T-shirts that have the American Flag with "Welcome to America Now speak English". While the shirt gets mixed reviews, I really could careless because thats how I feel about it!!
I called my mortgage company, there was no press 1 for english, when I finally got a person on two seperate ocassions the person started out speaking english! I had to say "What the He@@ did you say? Can I speak to someone who speaks english?" That's just outright disrespect for America when spanish is the first language you encounter with a business.

  5. anon 9;20 What a stupid statement. I would suggest that America is the center of the universe as far as Americans are concerned. It is America and english is the language that we speak. All immigrants that came here before learned english and if the spanish speaking people want to come here they too should learn to speak english.

  6. anon 920, nope America isn't the center of the universe, however it SHOULD ALWAYS be the center of rights for the American people! I doubt very seriously when someone in say I don't know Afganistan, or Isreal, (keeping this open here), Sweden, France, hmm Germany oh the list could go on and any how back to my point I am sure when someone in any of those countries makes a call with in the same country for a business matter they are not first answered by an English speaking person, nor are they expected to dial "1" to hear the recodring in their langauge.

Lemme guess you are a political correct junky huh? It's ok we understand the weak must join together some how to find some since of being a part of something!

  8. So, 9:20 AM, let's put the shoe on the other foot. Would you move to France, or Italy, or Russia and demand that everyone there speak English to accomodate you?

    9:20 AM"

Nobody said it was the "center of the universe" but we do speak english here. Ignorance is coming to a place and expecting them to accommodate your language. I don't speak French, therefore you won't ever find me in France until I learn French...I do speak spanish, so I have no problems in spanish speaking counties-I will conform to their language and respect them when I go there. So ANON 9:20 AM, do you know Spanish or any other second language? Because atleast I know a second language and can communicate where I choose to go. I want the same respect as a U.S. Citizen that I give foreigners when I visit their countries.

  12. Words are a joke and will and have acomplished nothing. Were at war for our own exsistence people, enough words, no more talk. Its time to take it to the next level. To heck with China, muslims and illegal aliens. The American people by majority are sick of it. We are losing our jobs, our homes our entire way of life. Its time for the states to sucede from this union, its been time. The federal goverment will continue to screw the middle class Americans until we stop them, and words will not do that. Arm yourselves because the time is near.

  14. Cindy:
We've kept a rotary phone just for the "antiquity" of it. My grandson is afraid of it in that he doesn't know how to use it. Of course, you can still dial a 1, but it's best feature...it keeps guests from making long distance calls. (yes, some are that rude.)
    LOL!
