God, I Just LOVE These Kids Of Honor!

Dear Salisbury Youth Supporter,

As you may know a former student and now volunteer coach at Main Street Gym, Fernando Guerrero, has become a professional boxer. As you may have heard, Fernando’s twelfth professional fight will be held at the Youth and Civic Center in Salisbury on February 6, 2009 and will be televised live on ESPN.

Fernando is a genuine and sincere young man and has a great effect on the children in our community. He regularly speaks to youth regarding his life and the choices that he has made. His is a message of positive choices and believing in oneself.

Kids of Honor in partnership with Main Street Gym have started a fund called the Student Achievement Reward Program. The purpose of the fund is to raise money for the children in our community, whom are making differences in their own lives to attend the fight on February 6, 2009. We are working directly with Main Street Gym and have set criteria for the distribution of the tickets to needy children that have demonstrated positive change and otherwise could not afford to attend the event. The last fight on October 3, 2008 the program sent 700 students to the event.

Your consideration and donation would help us to help the children of our community. If you have any questions, please contact me directly. All checks should be made payable to Kids of Honor, Inc. and sent to Kristi Richardson at the above address.

As you know, Kids of Honor, Inc. is an IRC Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Kids of Honor, Inc. did not provide any goods or services in return for your contribution.

Sincerely,

Kristi Richardson

  1. I tell you Joe, the generosity of many individuals & businesses in our community has been exceptional. One fine gentleman took the time to call me, while out of town, to make his very generous donation.

Kristi has done a phenomenal job with the last event, and we hope be able to distribute that many tickets, if not more to local youth once more. Fernando's message of hope, self reliance and positive life choices is too important not to foster in our children.

Thank you for allowing us this forum to reach out and expand our message to the community.

    Sincerely,
    Hala McIver

  2. Kids of Honor is a great program. I am wondering of the Civic Center or the promoter are donating any tickets. Logically, it seems like htose profiting form the event should be interested in donating too. Fernando is an inspiration to local youth and I hope that many children get to enjoy this experience. Thank you Fernando and KOH for all you do.

  3. Joe, Knowing that the economy is pretty tough right now, I hesitated even doing the Student Rewards Program through Kid of Honor, this time around. But once again Henry Brown of ED Supply contacted me, saying he wanted to donate to this program again and would I get it going. He really cares about kids in this community and never once said ," will I get any kind of advertising out of this?" I then received a call from the owners of Brew River(Frank Hanna) asking if they could do a donation the to the program. Again with no mention of any kind of advertising, just wanting to do something good for these deserving kids. Once again the program started with very generous people that care about this community, and what Ferando represents. They are forward thinking enough to understand that the success of this young man and the success of these event, benifit
our community in too many ways to mention here. They are the epitome of community minded people. Coach Hal
