Drinking In A Cab & Driving?

A Letter to the Editor:

"Anyone else get picked up by a "City Cab" last night with a male driver and two male passengers already in the cab and drinking beer?"

They went on to say:

"Ask City Cab why the driver had his buddies in the car with him and who they were."

It should be noted that this Cab Company is NOT the same company in Ocean City. They are two completely different companies with two different owners. In fact, (so I'm told) the Salisbury company will be changing their name very soon. The company mentioned above is currently the City Cab in Salisbury.

  2. You guys would love the disco/reggae taxis in Amsterdam!!

Serving suggestion: It helps if EVERYONE in the car is as relaxed as the driver....and the commute is like watching sausages/laws being made..it doesn't help to take notes or micromanage..

  3. Who cares, as long as you dont get a DUI and aren't charged with having an open container? You get what you pay for.

  4. my husband and i used to take a taxi if we went out to hear a band or something and knew we'd be drinking.

i stopped the practice when i got fed up that the cabs almost always had adult family members in the car. i can understand a female driver feeling safer with a passenger along, but twice we got in minivan ones that had two or three adult family memebers in the car and felt really uncomfortable. then we got in one at about 1 am and the driver had a baby and a young teen girl in the cab riding around - totally weird. finally, i called one late one night after my car broke down on the way home from a graduate class i take at night. a woman alone, the taxi that arrived was a minivan with three adult males in it. no way. i called and had my husband wake up the kids and come get me.

as a former new yorker who took cabs daily, i find salisbury's cabs really awful.

apparently there is as much regulation and rules about cabs in this town as there is about anything else.

These cabs aren't regulated by anyone. They are run by a bunch of criminals and they are dangerous. Someone should do a criminal background check on these people.

That is why Anon 1:27pm said only an idiot would take a cab.

  6. We need to have regulations. The reason a person would take a cab after drinking is because they are being responsible. Why the hell would they want to get in a cab, after being smart not to drive themselves when drinking, with an idiot that is drinking. It doesn't matter if they don't get the DUI or other charges. They didn't want to take a chance on killing or hurting themselves or anyone else.
Salisbury is one screwed up city and we keep growing them. Time for major change.

The Sheriff's office is in charge of taxi Licensing and they do fingerprint them and do criminal history checks on them. They get a 30 day permit until the results of the prints come back and if cleared get a license!
