Don't You Park For Free In My City!
Memo from Barrie Tilghman to Mr. Pick. John, please contact Public Works and order me some signs to place in the parking lots at the old Fire Station, No Parking and No Parking Between Signs.
It seems that pesky Joe Albero has found a way to park for FREE in the City and until we place those signs there we can't do anything to him. Then there's those low life peons at the Library who also figured out they could park there and not pay for the parking in town and we simply can't afford it any longer. I DRIVE A CONVERTIBLE VOLVO NOW JOHN!
Oh, don't forget to pat yourself on the back for a job well done and tell Doug Church the Chief doesn't see Joe Albero around the City very often any more so he can go back to parking in those metered parking spaces for free again. Also, tell Doug my shoe size is a woman's 11 and I believe we're the same size. Check on that for me, will you John.
Oh, John, don't forget to check the change in the Dog Park Donation Jar and get me a Pepsi like a good boy.
The Mayor of Oz.
Why don't they put ten minute meters there! You could go into the library to get a book, and come out and get a ticket, to read as an added bonus!
ReplyDeleteA nice solution might be to make all meters in the downtown area $0.25 for two hours. That way the city can get some revenue and people can park inexpensively for a decent amount of time, and actually spend some time downtown.
ReplyDeleteIt used to be called the Wicomico county FREE library, but I noticed they dropped that a few years ago. Maybe has something to do with the fact that every time you go there you have to pay to park and/or get a hefty parking fine.
ReplyDeleteFor the downtown in general-
you could park for free at the mall or any of the north end businesses where you have plenty of variety of merchants and food places in a clean, safe, climate controlled area. Or, I can PAY to park downtown and walk a block or two to a "pedestrian mall" that looks like a wreck, homeless men beg for change and stink up the place and I can shop at the 3 stores left down there. I think its a no brainier why nobody shops there
It would be cost effective to allow everyone to park for FREE. Of course, they would have to fire the "meter maids" or who ever they hire to man those meters. Sign me disgusted in Salisbury and glad I don't live in the city and rarely go there.
ReplyDelete9:28, I agree, might be able to get a meal witout worrying if the meter is running out, or getting a ticket....Too late for the meal though! Bistro is closing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame to just allow no parking. One or two hour limit but this is stupid.
ReplyDeleteUsed to be before the witch you could park for free all over town. Now days fewer people go downtown and it cost to park.
Go figure.
