Delaware Bombarded With Former MD & NJ Business Licenses Applicants

Joe:

I just received my Delaware Business License renewal last week. It was due on December 31,2008.

I renewed it this morning via online and paid with a credit card. Afterwards, I telephoned them to inquire why they didn't mail the invoice earlier as the business license renewal fee was due almost simultaneous with their mailing.

The receptionist at the Delaware Business License department said that Delaware had recently been bombarded by new license applications for businesses relocating from Maryland and N.J. which had thrown their office behind.

As a result, she said that Delaware will not be issuing any late fees or interest penalties because of their error in mailing them out late.

I WONDER IF MARYLAND OFFICIALS ARE LISTENING-IN!

You can bet your butt that Maryland would have be 'sticken it to them' if the same thing happened in Maryland.

The girl was very pleasant and it was a positive experience for a change. She kept apologizing.

  1. Wow. I'm really impressed.

I'm going to check out Delaware for opening another branch there.

That helps to explain why the corridor north of Salisbury - just across the Delaware line- is bustling with new businesses. I've been wondering why all of the new business activity.

  2. They don't call Delaware the 'Diamond' state for nothing.

It truly is a real jewel.

  3. Delaware is a well run state as is Virginia. MARYLAND IS NOT, NEVER HAS BEEN.

  4. WOW I am 99% sure that Maryland would be STICKING IT TO YOU if it had happened in Maryland. And I have lived here all my life.

  5. Delaware is VERY business friendly, unlike Maryland, specifically Wicomico County

  6. Maryland won't stick it to you. The business license hanging on the wall of Plus One Fitness (on Snow Hill Rd) shows and expiration date of 2007. They are still open and operating 7 days a week. I guess having a valid business license is just a formality that honest business owners follow.

  7. More business means more jobs-is the unemployment rate any better in DE as compared to MD ? I dont know how people stay solvent running a business in "tax purgatory" aka Maryland-(remember cant say bad words anymore....lol)
