Could This Anonymous Comment Be True?

"I know everyone is bragging on the great job done by our police department but I know for a fact that the whole thing could have been avoided all together and this kind young lady would still be alive. The fact is these 3 low life good for nothings at around 2am that same morning robbed a young man at knife point on snow hill road in front of Pepsi. He managed to pull out if his shirt with only a small cut from the knife on his upper arm.He saw a police car at the light by ED supply and ran screaming toward them. He told the CITY police officer what had happened and SHE kept telling to calm down and stop yelling at her. After a few min. she went down the road and came back with his shirt and his hat that had been cut up by the 3 black(2 female 1 male) suspects. These people were the same 3 that killed Anitra Pirkle About 18 hrs. later. So I say GREAT JOB!!! if the job had been done right the 3 would have been arrested and off the streets and NOBODY would of had to die.So if anyone wants to get to the bottom of this call our city fellows and ask them WHY they did nothing!"

  4. Joe,
I am amazed that I am just reading details in today's Daily Times that you posted on your blog days ago about this crime. I hope more facts come out about this recent posting because it speaks volumes about what is really going on with crime in Salisbury. I note your blog in my blog when I get the chance as being one full of political ire, but from now on, I am going to mention it favorably and note your URL. Thanks, Joe, for keeping us "accurately informed" something the Daily Times seems to have forgotten. They can't get the facts straight and they sure as heck can't spell. In today's article, I suddenly discovered that Nissan makes a vehicle called an "Ultima". Does anybody actually proofread stuff over there anymore?
    Thanks again Joe!

  5. The truth will never come to the light of day unless this victim contacts MIKE LEWIS. Then the family can proceed to sue the city for millions that the city council will never hear about until the last minute.

  6. I say give Cheif Webster a chance to set it right, before making any judgements on this comment. He deserves and opurtunity to respond as much as the family and public deserve the right to have a response. Maybe he will come out with a statement soon.

  9. Sounds as if you expected the suspects to run to the police and turn themselves in immediately. It took several hours to find them after the murder. This SP officer shouldn't be blamed for this murder,as you are implying. Tough enough job as it is.

  11. I pray to God that this is not the same three culprits. IF this officer had followed through they would have been arrested for assault... and hopefully still in custody. What a SHAME this will be, if it turns out to be true.
Who has any incentive to investigate this? Surely not the Chief.

  12. I am the person who posted the comment about the young man and it is all facts , I know this because this man is a close family member. He told us the story at 10 am that morning after he finally made it home.He was sitting in a field that morning after being aloud to walk away from the scene where he had been assaulted, and 2 Md. STATE troopers asked him what he was doing. they listened to his story and called him a cab.One of the troopers made the comment"that's the difference in us and the city boys".This young man did not know these were the same people until he saw their pictures on THIS SITE this morning. He does plan to tell his story as soon as he figures out WHO to tell it to.He of course wants these savage people punished but because of his own fear wants to remain anonymous. I have had my own dealings with our local finest and have always found they were NO help to me!

  14. I got to tell you ive been reading this blog site for about a year now and see some people make some rude comments and people bash Joe. This comment totally MAKES ME SICK!!!

You are, first, going to assume that these people are the same. Trust me when i tell you , there are more then just one set of thugs running around the bury committing crime.

Secondly, did you expect a mirale? The police forces in Wic Co, weather it be MSP, Sheriffs dept, Salisbury, Fruitland, whoever....they have their hands full. They did a great job on this case and did something that many depts could not do. They caught the bad guy and that is the important part.

You guys seem to think its so damn easy to be a police officer and constantly seem to want to bash them for anything that happens. How about instead of saying this could have been prevented, say GOOD JOB PD!!!

And further more, if you think you could do such a better job, how about you get your rump out there and you become a cop, make your 40k a year to keep idiots safe and you see how easy it is.

Just because a unfortunite crime happens, does NOT mean that the bad guy/girls can be caught within minutes. Its just not possible. I worked in Ocean City as a tram operator years ago and they seem to have a cop on every corner in the summer yet they still have times where criminal thugs rob someone and are never caught. Its simply the nature of the game. The important part is they are eventually caught and brought to justice.

If you want to complain about something, complain about our courts and justice system. These 3 thugs will most likely get life, serve 10-12 years and be out at the age of 26-31 years old. Then they will most likely be more dangerous than they are now because in jail they will have already joined a larger gang and come out and committ more crime to the community. Bottom line people, if you want crime to stop, start putting some of the dirtbags in the chair or give their butts a needle. You wanna see crime change, start shooting some of these fools that committ violent crimes and well see how much crime changes.

I dont care if its Mike Lewis, Chiefy or god himself. No one person will change what is going on in salisbury.

God bless this family and Joe, very nice job posting news so early. I dont always agree with your views, but i do agree you do a good job getting news out to us guys in Delmar.

  16. Well first off. Just let me asy to the Troopers and Deputies involved in the arrest of these three animals. GREAT JOB. There is no better feeling than to speak for the murdered and say yes, you are the one and you will pay. I am just sorry they will not pay with their lives. I am a staunch supporter of the the death penality in cases like this. I know first hand that poor women suffered one of the most brutal deaths. I was one of many that watched this poor women leave this world.

I am sorry to speak on such graphic terms. To the family let you have peace in such troubling times. I say this to you let her strengths live in you. Speak loud as to your pain and suffering. When God grants you the strength let your voices ring loud and clear.

These three offenders are young but I can say that after twenty years of fighting crime and observing the evil than man does to man, some cases touch you. This is one of those cases. The total lack of human values in this case speaks volumes as to what we are dealing with here. The case is solid and no deals should be made. The three should never exhale another free breath. I will keep you in my prayers as your family heal. I will also pray for the officers that dealt with this graphic violence and then have to go home and be a father and mother to their families. Some of these investigators went days without sleep, after just days earlier doing the same thing on a another horrific sensless murder of another young person.

If this is not a wake up call to all politcals involved the ship is teatering. I beseach you to use common sense and give the tools needed to be proactive and not so reactive to crime on our streets. I am no scholar of finance or grants, but something needs to be done and soon. It will only get worse. This has to be addressed at all levels.

Davis Ruark needs the funding to bring in the staff needed to handle the overwhelming case load. The law Enforcement agencies need the funding for a street crime unit that is strictly proactive.

Sheriff Lewis has the drive of ten. The Sheriff's staff has one of the most proactive approaches to crime that I have seen in twenty years. The State Police have the same atributes, The City police have been under seige for years with a lacking budget and man power issues. They are great officers. The tools needed are there, they can not be utilzed if not given financial support and the lattitude to get the job done.

These men and women deal with the elements of this type of crime day in and day out. When it alarms those working the crimes. I know the good people of this county have to suffer the psychological effects as well.

The Sheriff's Office is lacking a retirement and insurance package that fits the bill for years. The request for this package has fallen upon deaf ears for over fifteen years. I can say it is truly sad this is still an issue for these great county servants. I will state once more, if a deputy is injured in the line of duty. They will suffer great hardship in that the insurance is so lacking they will likely lose thier homes and thier children's oppurtunity for college. I say this is appauling. The citizens of this county spoke loud and clear on this issue. It is time to resolve it. I for one will remember each and every member of the coucil that balked at the oppurtunity to correct this issue.

The City Police has had years of a lacking budget and new technologey that is out there to get the job done. It amazes me that we can not hear one another as we work the streets of a county this size. There should be one central communications center at the very least. Our neighboring Sussex County has it. The city has been given the poor distinction of one of the most violent cities per capita in America. They can sugar coat the numbers but the head lines speak the truth of what is out there. The city is part of the county. This poor women could be any one of our family members. Thank God she did not have an infant in the vehicle.

The Salisbury Barrack should be staffed with twice the number of Troopers. This is more than obvious. I do not understand the lack of attention by the Maryland State Police Command on this issue. These Troopers have worked for years without any type of substancial raise. The very cost of living far overwhelms the compensation given to these great Officers.

As for the handling of this call by the SPD Officer none of us where there. I will not stand in judgement. If in fact they are the three it would not be the first time an officer has had contact with a killer prior to a murder. They just dont go out and start murdering. This happened with John Thanos, Duran Moss, Etc.. There has been numerous murders in the county. The offenders are almost always known to the system this is the society in which we live.

The county has the potential to fight crime in a fashion that all will see the results. The City and County Goverment need to get on the same stratigic plan. In that there needs to be one in place. We all share the same schools, stores, parks etc.. Why is there such a division in services. The sytem is failing. The soldiers are here and willing to fight the war on crime. It is time to untie the hands of the leaders of these agencies. The lesson here has been taught to many times. When do we as citizens take heed and make those who control OUR tax dollars answer to the lack of concern or just plain ignorance as to the issues stated.

All I ask is that this women not die in vain. If it does not touch each and every one of us, as every murder in this county should we are no better than the thugs that took her life. This women simply went to get a hamburger. It could have been your own child. Ask yourself how many times you and your loved ones go to the store. I hope no family has to live this horror again.

It is not "maybe" it is a fact this was the same 3 people.Your right all criminals don't get caught right away and sometimes never, but if they had investigated and put a watch out for these three, then they might not have made it all the way across town to the Tastee freez. If it had been a low rider car they would have found that, or a car with loud exhaust,or a jacked-up truck, because it doesn't take alot of guts to do that.Sorry sometimes the truth hurts. Not all law enforcement officers are chicken shits or LAZY,there are some GOOD cops and we thank them!

  21. A Commenter said,

"Daily Times reports this days later." It happened Thursday night, buddy. When do you think they send their pages to the press to print? It's a newspaper! You have to have time to print it. The story was up on their website the same day as here. Give me a break people.

WRONG! The Daily Times did NOT have it up that night, only I did. I even commented that even after the Press Release came out late yesterday, the Daily Times did NOT have this information up on line as late as late this morning.

I refused to put up the entire comment because it was full of lies so I just posted what I felt was fair. You can rag on me elsewhere about doing so, I don't care. When I know they are lies I have every right to junk the comment.

I posted this story Thursday night and continued updating it. The Daily Times clearly has no staff on weekends and have cut back so much that they can't even get their website updated. Their days are numbered and everyone knows it. Get used to it and get over it.

  22. The officer may have been able to apprehend these thugs had she not spent so much time telling the victim to calm down and stop yelling.
I have seen this type of behavior waste precious time on several occasions in my life. I realize that an officer has to get a bit of information before they can assertain whether a crime has been commmitted, but if the average citizen could talk in police code talk the officer would been on her way in seconds to apprehend these people.
Often at least during the times I have witnessed these types of interactions, I have seen the officer acting suspicious of the victim themselves. Since when did running down the street with blood on you yelling for help from a police officer make you the one that is the suspect?
This is a very real problem, and policing policy needs to be changed.

Shall we go on? Let's just say you were in a mild accident yesterday. Do you really sit around thinking, man, if I had only made that right hand turn 15 seconds beforehand I wouldn't have been in that accident.

Quit wasting your time on this crap. Yes, it is sad further investigative work wasn't done. However, YOU voted for this Mayor and City Council who have raised the living crap out of your taxes and you're getting far less for your money, starting with additional EXPERIENCED Police Officers.

YOU WANT TO FEEL THE PAIN, BE THE MOTHER OF THE CHILD THAT IS NOW DEAD!

When the prostitute was recently murdered a few months ago in Salisbury and they had the discription of the suspects vehicle, the temporary tags and even the discrition of the suspect and the Chief of Police REFUSED to expose to the Citizens, (especially the women of Salisbury and Wicomico County) what to look out for, where were you then?

When they Chief of Police gets on PAC 14 and speaks highly of his YOUNG POLICE FORCE, just what did YOU expect?

Veteran Police Officers are walking off the job at the SPD and jumping into retirement as fast as humanly possible.

Now, is it the young Cops fault? Was that Cop any less willikng to risk their life that day or any other day? NO! They just don't have the wisdom and experience ALL of the veteran Officers have and your Chief of Police SOLD OUT THE TAXPAYERS!

You want to see more of this crap, vote for Gary Comegys!!!!!! I'm not saying I like and or I'm confident in ANY of the Candidates running for Mayor. I'm bowing my head in shame from what I'm seeing here lately. However, the Mayor and the Chief screwed the Officers out of their commitment on pay the last go around and that included Comegys.

Don't point your finger at the Police Officer. She did her job to the best of her ability. Point your fingers at Gary Comegys, Barrie Tilghman and Chief Websterm seriously.

    Can I get an AMEN?

A fund in my opinion is much more needed for Anitra to help out with her burial expenses and other expenses that may exist. Truthfully, the police force (Webster) should be the one who coughs up some money for her burial since he seemed to Poo Poo the incident earlier that morning. What do you think?

  27. I hope these three cretins get charged with the attempted murder of the young man. The difference is that he got away but that's no thanks to them.

  29. Anon 4:25, How can you be so cold. I doubt the family of this young girl are on the blog asking for money. Those who suggested a fund be set up are just expressing their thoughts about a family that are grieving. The community comes together for others. Why not for her? What if this was your mother, daughter, or grandmother? Perhaps your tune would change.

This young girl did nothing wrong. She was (is) a victim. From everything I have read about her she had her life together. Attending WorWic with money she earned by working 2 jobs, and money from grants and scholorships. Sounds like someone to be proud of.
Her life was cut short by "thugs" who care little about themselves, let alone another human being. I pray she did not suffer long. Her final breath was one of terror! I pray for her family that they find peace in what she accomplished in her short life.
    Shame on you!!!

  34. Protecting idiots? $40,000.00 a year ?

Its this very position that allowed a stabbed victem to be released with out even a ride to safety. "Hres your shirt and hat" "I'd give you a band aid but I'm all out". What kind of half ass performence of police work is this ?

You can dismiss this kind of mistake if you want but give me a gun and I wouldnt allow people to be assualted with deadly weapons with out a descent attempt to catch the ones who committed it.

Give em more money ? Hows that gonna make the officers do their jobs better ? $40.000.00 aint nothing to sneeze at. I made a whole lot less and broke my back day in and day out. And not by getting in and out of my "cruser" either.

The police around here really need to do their jobs better. It seems as if being a police officer is becoming one of those "cush" jobs. I know there must be a certain amount of depression when all you see is the "bad" side of people because thats what your dealing with but if you cant handle the heat get out the kitchen. The officers dont mind "walking tall" with their side arms and night sticks now do they?

Allow people to carry their own side arms and the only trouble would be for the courts to determen weather the shooting was substanciated , not wasting time punishing.

Give me the old west. When a person respected anothers' rights out of fear of what would happen if they didnt. The fear of being held responsible for ones actions has been replaced with the fear of one not being held responsible. And so the circle has been completed.

People would be a whole lot more respectful of others if they felt their lives depended on it. And youths would be more respectful if they thought they would get their backsides whooped if they didnt.

What a backwards society we have allowed to emerge. Breeding seperation instead of coming together to seek out and end crime. Whers the next posse gathering to catch the bad guy. Those were the days!

Now we rely on the once weak when younger only to grow up and become police officers with guns to protect us ? Sounds wrong to me.

What a backwards society we have become. Take the freedoms away from people and tell them its for their own good. That dosnt make it good. Time to start validating why we have chosen this way of existence. Show me.

And dont justify it with "we are educated now" because common sense has been around alot longer than any school book I've read.

In other words, Do you job officers or quit. Let those of us who will, do it for you.

If power corrupts and knowledge is power....you figure it out. I'm getting really tired of worrying if I should let my wife or children should go out at night because they wont be safe.

Do you think the police got these thugs off the streets so quickly by themselves without the help of the community..So your family wouldnt have to use any of your precious insurance money to bury one of your loved ones murdered so violently for no reason by these

animals..But yet you'd rather work hard everyday with your "responsible" self to feed and clothe these criminals in jail so they can "lift weights" and "work out" everyday and get their "GED" (which they should have been doing while they were out on the street) and find God (please!) and study criminal law, and scam the courts into releasing them early ,and get a book or movie deal..While the family is left trying to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives from this tragidy, just praying God gives them the strength to make it through another day. Thursday morning my husband was doing work at Tidemill, when he arrived, a family member came up to him and told him that he had been robbed a knife point by 3 people and been walking all night, because when he told the police about what happened they just told him to go home. The boy had been walking all night with just a long sleeve shirt on.. My husband had gone to tell his boss that he was taking him home and when he came back the boy wasn't there... How can anyone, especially the police leave somebody out in the cold with no coat, let alone somebody who had just been robbed at knifepoint, without offering a ride or cab. If they didn't want to take him home, why wasn't he taken to the hospital??? Anyone with any compassion would have offered some kind of assistance. I thought that the police took an oath to serve and protect, not ignore and neglect... The police officer who the boy ran to for help, I hope she has a heavy heart, because if she had done her job and followed up with the information that she had been given, the death of this girl may not have happened..I do realize that the police do have hard jobs at times, but if you can't handle the job then find another one....I know that every criminal can't be caught, but these 3 should've been caught the night before. They were chasing the boy down the street when he approached the cop, it took her a good minute or so to even put her window down...I realize that he was probably a little frantic, but wouldn't you be too if you had just been cut and robbed????? I don't just blame the police for not doing they're job, I blame the parents of the 3 criminals for not doing they're job. If parents would do they're job of raising they're children with values and compassion our world might not be what it is today. I know that some of you parents do whatever you can to raise a good child and sometimes it doesn't work,, but I truly believe that alot of the problems we have with our youth, STARTS AT HOME!!!!!!!!!! I'm referring to the parents that drink all the time , or leave they're kids home by themselves, doing drugs in front of your kids, abusing your kids, neglecting your kids...they should be held responsible too...Wake up people, we're raising the future criminals..Teach your kids right and wrong, check up on them, question them, it might piss them off, but so what...If you can honestly say, "I did everything I could" then good for you!!!
