Salisbury Teacher Arrested For Child Sexual Abuse

SALISBURY, Md.- Authorities have arrested a music teacher at Salisbury Christian School accused in connection with sexual abuse of a minor.

The Wicomico Bureau of Investigation arrested 41-year-old Lee Mayers and charged her with multiple counts of sexual abuse of a minor.

Mayers is accused of having a prolonged relationship with a 17-year-old male student who attends the school.

Today the stock traded down almost a dollar per share or dropped 12.5% and finished the session at $6.81/Share. Even mad man Jim Cramer chimed-in and said "my eyebrows raised quite a bit with Gannett offering a 21% dividend yield" despite a sinking ship - warning for buyers to beware of this stock.

A Message From The Crown Center

The Crown Sports Center is asking every player, parent and/or guardian for their support. Many of you have read that Wicomico County is requiring the Crown to pay an amusement tax on all youth sports for children participating in events ages 18 months to eighteen years of age. However, other youth organizations like bowling, karate, cheer leading, volleyball, gymnastics, tennis, wrestling leagues, classes and businesses are not being accessed this tax. Why are they only taxing children playing in soccer, field hockey and lacrosse leagues and classes at the Crown Sports Center? Please know that the Crown pays all of the standard business and county taxes like other businessses in the county. What we do not want is to be singled out for this amusement tax on our youth sports. It is our facility intention to offer a safe haven with healthy activities for your children. In today's economy, it is difficult enough to keep costs down without adding additional fees onto youth sports. Now we are asking for your help. We are aking each of you to please contact these Wicomico County council members with letters, calls and/or emails. Thanking you in advance for your support from the staff of Crown Sports Center.

It should be noted, (in case you didn't watch the PAC 14 Council Meeting yesterday) that I fully support the Crown Center and its relief from such amusement taxes. More importantly, I support the relief of a punishment tax, (not an amusement tax) against children under 18 years old.

Some have used words like, this is another "Bailout." To those IDIOTS who stand behind such a statement, Bailouts go to Corporate Officers in the billions. RELIEF goes to children under 18 years old and its about damn time they got some relief! Contact your Council Members and let them know how much you support the Crown Center. My personal belief is, they don't have young children who would take advantage of such a facility, therefore they've forgotten where they came from.

People come from all over the East Coast to play in tournaments at the Crown. They stay in local Hotel Rooms, eat at local restaurants and help this local economy. They open their doors for ALL local Schools in need of a practice field when it's raining, hence the Bennett Soccer Team just last week. Remember when the breast cancer people were going to hold their event at the Shorebirds Stadium and the rain canceled it. The Hearne Family from Crown opened their doors immediately and the event went on. There are tons of stories just like these tat many of you know and should share. STOP PUNISHING CHILDREN BECAUSE THEY LIKE SPORTS! DROP THE AMUSEMENT TAX NOW!

Federal Raid Yesterday Was Known 2 Weeks Prior

What an embarrassment to Federal Agents trying to make an honest attempt to clean things up. Of course the Chief of the Salisbury Police Department is so desperate to lower crime during an election time, he's now asking help from the Feds AND the WCSO to get it done. Hence the photos from yesterday.

That's right Chiefy, right under your nose, everyone knew what was up, hence only three arrests. Two were for outstanding warrants and one was for a small amount of cocaine.

Nevertheless, this is even more reason to ask the Chief for his resignation and find someone willing to put on a Uniform and lead Salisbury back to where it used to be before Webster came on board.

Heck Chiefy, how do you think I knew about it! More importantly, why did you show up at 7:30 AM when everyone else started at 6:00 AM? Then you refused to get out of your car. You drove from one location to the next and never once got out of your vehicle. You must be one really important guy!

The SPD is falling apart under his leadership and it's no wonder why he's so jealous of Sheriff Mike Lewis.

A Veterans Day Thank You

Just a small word from the Vets of Salisbury and area around here.

I have for a long time had a little burr about Veterans Day when everyone seems to get the day off except the Vets.

But that’s the American way I guess, but I have to put a special thanks to the “Golden Corral” for having a free dinner to all Vets in the Area. Every year they have a special day (this year, Monday 11/17) when they allow all Vets to come and eat free. It was very special and I loved seeing so many Vets show up. We were welcomed with open arms, the manager came around and thanked all of us for what we did and stood for. The staff was very great to us and we all met allot of other Vets we did not know.

I’m very grateful to them and it felt very good to be recognized. Some of us paid prices that allot of people will never know!

Last Weeks Uprising Of Name Calling At Dog Laws Meeting

The Dog & other Animals committee have done a detailed & timely research presenting to the County their suggested new laws for protection of its people & its animals. We should feel proud to know they had such care & concern to give of their free time.

Having attended the Council meeting last Wed. night & reading in the Daily Times the statement from a disgruntaled objector I felt it necessary to get this information out to the people. As the last person appearing before Council stated , " I've been called a lot of things in my life, but never a Natzi!". Well said , I might add.

For ones objecting to authorities saying they can't leave a dog in a vehicle without proper ventalation, please remember the area policeman who left his K-9 companion locked in his air-conditioned car while he went into the police station. Upon returning to his vehicle he found it had STOPPED RUNNING, & HIS DOG DEAD!!!!
Yes, people , things like this can happen & it did. I can't imagine how devastated he must have been.

Our MD Statutes/Law under Transportation-Title 21 Vehicle Law , Rules of the Road, states IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO LEAVE A DOG WITHOUT PROPER VENTILATION!!! It appears the County Law actually is not needed if our State of MD mandates this. It will be interesting to see how County votes .

For the person at the meeting saying his dog was trained to protect his property, & he was concerned as to the Countys proposed description of "Dangerous Dogs" , & what could happen to his dog because of it, I recommend they go to MD Code, Criminal Law, 10-619 which describes dangerous dogs, which our State of Maryland enforces. This would perhaps help his understanding & also to know when a person is on your property, this is entirely a different story.

I hope this will help clarify questions I see in the GrapeVine of the Daily Times & would suggest you get on your computers & look up our MD State Laws also.

A bunch of NATZI pet owners?-----I don't think so. The Laws of our County have been primitive for way to long. It's time a voice for the animals was heard. I hope our County takes this into consideration when they pass their vote as to what is not stated as Law by the State of MD.

Citizens of Wicomico County are about to see their public access cable channel (PAC-14) handed over to a group of local agitators and Salisbury University.  This group will be wholly unaccountable to the taxpayers and cable ratepayers who will continue to foot most, if not all, of the bill.  This is the revised strategy of PAC-14 Director Mike Goodson, local left-wing activist Mike Pretl, Salisbury Mayor Barrie Tilghman, Councilwoman Louise Smith and various shills of the University.

Starting Monday we will begin another series on the revised plans to steal PAC-14 from the citizens and hand it over to a politically motivated special interest.

Somerset County District Court Applicant Short list

The Judiciary website has listed the short list of candidates for the Somerset County District Court position to be vacated by Judge Hayman in December of 2008.

It appears that the State's Attorney, Kristy Hickman, and the sitting Domestic Relations Master, Robert Laird, did not make the final cut.

Catch A Tiger By the Tail

I know you have been asked this question before. Wouldn't you like to have a kitten/cat? Well, I know that it's easy to say no. But how easy is it now that you've seen these four beauties? Personally I was a cat hater. Didn't like them, couldn't make me like them. It all changed when we moved here to Delmar and an orange and white cat showed up at our door. We are fond of saying that he came with the house. He kind of did. We made the mistake of feeding him and he was ours. Got him his shots and neutered him and he follows us around like he knows our moves before we do. He loves to wait for the bus with our Grandson and meets him when the bus drops him off at the end of the day. He follows our Grandson around during every move he makes and sleeps with him at night. You couldn't find a more faithful companion for a 7 year old.
So am I a reformed cat hater? You bet. And if you opened your heart and home to one of these little beauties, you would be too. Try it, you'll like it.

Layoffs

Dear Employees,

As the CFO of this business that employees 140 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our next President, and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way.

To compensate for these increases, I figure that the Clients will have to see an increase in our fees to them of about 8% but since we cannot increase
our fees right now due to the dismal state of our economy, we will have to lay off six of our employees instead. This has really been eating at me for a while, as we believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose who will have to go.

So, this is what I did. I strolled thru our parking lot and found 8 Obama bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can't think of a more fair way to approach this problem. These folks wanted change; I gave it to them.
