GANNETT COMES WITHIN 6 CENTS OF SETTING NEW RECORD LOW

Gannett Co., Inc. - (The Daily Times parent company) - came within 6 cents from setting yet a new record low. Gannett's stock slid to $8.55/Share in today's trading. Sagging circulation and diminishing ad sales can be attributed to Gannett's slid over the past two years. Locally, a new MSM magnet - SBYnews - has emerged, dominated, and become a household word here on the Delmarva Peninsula. The new electronic media magnet disseminates news in a flash as compared to the old style traditional media.

Salisbury Miracle Nick Rilling

Wanted to pass along this information to you about our little Salisbury Miracle Nick Rilling. His story is spreading and wanted to pass along this message from his mother Cynthia. Please pass along.

On Sunday we received a call from the Today Show asking us to be on the show to tell Nick's Story. This is an honor and something we promised to do. We need to tell this story of faith and believe in the power of prayer and spread the word. We are heading to NYC today and be back on Sunday morning. Inside Edition will also be doing a segment on him and we're meeting with them as well.

NBC came to our home yesterday and filmed Nick getting off the bus and at home with his brothers, etc. We are so happy of the opportunity for us to share His Miracle. We will be on TV live tomorrow Thursday at around 7:30 AM. If you miss it, the segment will be online later that morning.

PS: Please pass the word to anyone you think would be interested in watching. The producer and videographer that came in yesterday spent 5 hours here interviewing Nick, Anthony, Kent and I so I think they'll put together a nice segment. We want everyone who prayed for him to know we're very thankful for everything they've done for us and for the support they provided to us during this very difficult time. Without the prayers and the sense of goodness, it would have been a lot harder. :-)

Don't Throw Away Your Andy Harris For Congress Yard Signs!

While yesterday was a huge day for Frank Kratovil, the new 2010 Campaign for the 1st District Race started as of yesterday.

Yes, voters made a clear statement during this Kratovil/Harris race but in 2 years it will be a completely different picture. The pressure is now on Frank Kratovil to prove he can and will deliver what he's promised and quite frankly, I doubt most of it will happen.

Frank will get slapped around like a West Virginia Step Child and he better get to know his Wife and Kids really fast because from this point forward, it's not going to be easy or the cake walk he thinks it will be. Things will be quite different in two years and from the language I picked up on over the past few days, after asking Andy Harris is we should throw away our Yard Signs he replies, NO!

So congratulations Frank. There will be many people out there watching your every move for the next two years and one of two things will happen. Either you'll get pushed around like that West Virginia Step Child I spoke about earlier or you'll vote the other way simply because you'll be scared of the record you'll have and either way it's a win, win for Andy Harris in 2010.

Many have said it in the past, I wouldn't want Joe Albero looking over my shoulders, that's for sure. Two years is a VERY long time.

Let me close with this. Thank You Andy for coming all the way to Salisbury to concede. That was first class and top shelf, unlike that piece of trash Gilchrest who never even conceded, period. Interesting how Frank Kratovil refused to come to Salisbury as well yesterday. Wait till all of you see the letter I received the other night from Frank Kratovil as well. More to come...........

Bubba Yo Nex Mare??????

OK, I stated a couple of weeks ago that on November 12th, Gary Comegys would announce his intentions to run for Mayor of Salisbury. First of all, I was exactly 100% correct.

Secondly, here we have a man who declared Bankruptcy, yet he wants to manage and more importantly CONTROL millions upon millions of dollars for the City of Salisbury. Everyone knows his past history refusing to pay child support and having to be brought into Court over those serious issues as a dead beat Father.

We have seen him regularly and frequently cruising around in his SHA vehicle and let me ASSURE you Folks, the above photo does NOT lie! Gary Comegys has been seen regularly throughout the years hiding his SHA vehicle behind his home, IN THE CEMETERY so no one can see it, hence the evidence above at 2:30 in the afternoon on a week day. As a matter of fact, the above photo was taken on 11-6-08. This is a week day and during working hours.

Clearly this man will do anything to take advantage of EVERY taxpayer in the State of Maryland and YES, this has been reported to the Authorities. This is NOT an honest man. YOU will have the chance to show your interest in this man at the polls and believe me, he won't get past the first round.

It's finally up to YOU to show who you will stand behind because I know if I lived in the City limits I'd push to boot his a$$ off the Council just by the photo above alone.

The mere FACT that he has to HIDE the SHA vehicle where the normal Joe couldn't see it clearly shows Comegys doesn't respect his job nor the Maryland Taxpayers. I know many of you have seen him do this in the past. Yes, he does have a driveway to park 3 or 4 cars. Yes there is parking in front of his home on the street. Hence these photos from a previous article HERE.

Bubba, the game is OVER! Perhaps before it even starts. I can't wait for the comments to come rolling in on this one!

Daily Times Endorses Comegys for Mayor

Today Salisbury City Councilman Gary Comegys is expected to announce his candidacy for Mayor.  If this wasn't so serious for the taxpayers of Salisbury it would actually be amusing.

Think back a year.  When Councilwoman Debbie Campbell criticized the administration for failing to “balance the city's checkbook”, it was Comegys who viciously attacked  Campbell.  Yet, we learned a couple of months later that the city actually was unable to balance its checkbook – to the tune of over $10 million.  Ironically, we learned just yesterday that the administration of Mayor Barrie Tilghman, one of Comegys' staunchest ally, has again petitioned the state of Maryland for an extension in completing the city's audit for this past fiscal year.

This is just a portion of the record of a man who believes he is fit to be Mayor of this once fair city.

Higher taxes, more wasteful government spending, higher water and sewer rates, a crime rate that boggles the mind, and an overall degradation of city services – these are just a few of the things that have occurred under the stewardship of Gary Comegys and Barrie Tilghman.  As one condo development is going up for auction and another has sold only a fraction of its units Comegys wants to sink millions of tax dollars into the North Prong boondoggle.  As unemployment rises, it is the policies promoted by Gary Comegys which are driving the few businesses that want to move in to Salisbury OUT.

Now the Daily Times has come out with a de facto endorsement of the same old tired and grossly ineffectual policies.  By printing today's farcical article by city reporter Laura D'Alessandro, the Daily Times has made it clear which side they are taking in this battle for the literal soul of a once great city.

“Candidate is for community policing”?  Comegys supported shutting down the police substations which were the heart of a community policing effort.

“He (Comegys) said he hopes to find areas to save revenue (in the budget) ...”?  What has been Comegys' record on city fiscal policy?  Tax increases.  More wasteful spending on the bureaucracy of the Mayor's office.  A $10 million white elephant for the fire department and plenty of “big toys” for “big boys”.  The list goes on and on ...

After the disgraceful stewardship of Barrie Parsons Tilghman, can Salisbury seriously contemplate four more years of the same?

An Oldie But A Goodie

Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, and Oprah Winfrey were flying on Obama's private plane. Obama looked at Oprah, chuckled and said, 'You know, I could throw a $1,000 bill out of the window right now and make somebody very happy.Oprah shrugged her shoulders and replied, 'I could throw ten $100 bills out of the window and make ten people very happy.Michelle added, 'That being the case, I could throw one hundred $10 bills out of the window and make a hundred people very happy.Hearing their exchange, the pilot rolled his eyes and said to his co-pilot, 'Such big-shots back there. I could throw all of their asses out of the window and make 56 million people very happy.

The Audacity Of E-mail

Dear Mr. President-elect, please take me off your spam list.

Dear Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Joe Biden, David Plouffe, John Kerry, Al Gore, et al.:

First, I want to congratulate you on last week's astounding victory. I also want to take a moment to thank each of you for the many, many thoughtful and informative communications you have sent me over the weeks and months of this historic campaign. Each e-mail was like a precious gift, except that unlike a gift, each e-mail came with a request for cash.

But you know, that was OK. You were, after all, working toward a momentous goal, and I was happy to be asked to help you get there (particularly since my employer wouldn't allow me to give you money, anyhow). We climbed this mountain together, you and I, and your bulletins from the trenches never failed to set my heart to pounding: They're calling Obama a terrorist. My $50 will get them to stop! Sarah Palin thinks there are real and faux Americans. One hundred dollars from me, and she will go away! "Will you watch our response ad and make a donation of $100 or more to help us keep it on the air?" Just $25 for a limited edition car magnet, $75 for a commemorative coin, $100 for a backstage pass to Grant Park!

And, Barack. When you wrote to me on election night to tell me you were "about to head to Grant Park to talk to everyone gathered there" but were taking a moment to write to me first—well, I was so touched I almost didn't notice the little "donate now" button at the bottom of the page. Also, I have to admit that in the six days between the election and yesterday morning, I even came to miss my near-daily missives from each of you, updating me, flattering me, promising me great things and then shaking me down, just as a very kind, attentive, loving parent might do if, say, you owed him a lot of money.

But imagine my dismay yesterday when I opened my inbox to discover an e-mail entitled "Your Victory T-Shirt." Instead of a free victory T-shirt, I was being offered the chance to send yet another $100 to the DNC (in exchange for which I would, in all fairness, receive a free "victory T-shirt"). It's hard to explain why it's so galling to be asked to donate yet more money to a campaign after the election has been decided. It's sort of like being asked to keep planting the victory garden, years after Armistice Day. Even having achieved the presidency, Barack Obama is still counting on little old me for financial help? What's next? Dear Dahlia, Joe Biden and I have a bunch of great ideas for fixing government. And with your $100 donation, we can ensure that the S-Chip is fully funded and that the spotted owl remains on the endangered-species list. Please watch this video and consider a contribution.

America's unprecedented showing of financial and emotional support helped the Obama campaign win the Oval Office. It was a beautiful thing. And I really am going to miss seeing "Barack Obama" in my inbox three times a day. But it's high time for us voters to get back to panicking about our 401(k)s. So please stop e-mailing to ask for money. You're president-elect now, Barack. Consider yourself cut-off.

If We Can...WHY Haven't we???

This mornings online version of the Daily Times announced the mayoral candidacy of Gary Comegys. His campaign slogan being, Together...we can. This slogan begs a plethora of questions.

According to Bubba the city can balance infrastructure with public safety costs, address crime and be good environmental stewards. If we can...WHY haven't we?

His stance on community policing is taken right off of Jim Iretons website. He hasn't lifted a finger to do anything about the crime in his own neighborhood where drug dealing and prostitution proliferate. He didn't even come to the aid of Susan Carey when she pleaded for help after the shooting on New York Avenue earlier this year. Note to Bubba...We do not have a police officer on every corner within the city. We don't have enough city police officers to put them on every corner in the area to deter crimes against the students at SU, let alone the entire city. If we can...Why haven't we?

Gary Comegys is going to bring a fresh set of eyes? Hey Bubba, where have your eyes been since 2003 during the budget process? You don't even want to look at the budget unless it concerns increasing the retirement fund for volunteer firefighters ONLY because YOU benefit from the increase. The mayor only drafts HER budget it is the councils responsibility to go through the budget and slash her wasteful spending. YOU have supported her wasteful spending over the years and added to it.
His hope of saving revenue is laughable. He has voted to give away more money than this city has or will have at the rate of businesses and home owners leaving due to his increases in property taxes, and water and sewer rates. Where is the revenue coming from? Increased property taxes? If we can...WHY haven't we?

What I think his campaign slogan means is Together, we(my campaign manager and I)will feed the people more BS than they can digest to win this election then we'll APPOINT another of the good ole boys to the council to continue with business as usual under the reign of Barrie Parsons Tilghman.

Remember, A VOTE FOR GARY IS A VOTE FOR BARRIE.
