California family "grills" Granny and collects her checks
Authorities in Corning,California, report that Kathleen Allmond, 50,and her son Tony Ray, 30,actually CREMATED Kathleens elderly mother after her death at home in their backyard burn pit in order to conceal her death and collect her monthly retirement checks. The two claim that Ramona Allmond,84,died of natural causes and they left her corpse in her bedroom floor for a week before hatching their makeshift cremation plan. They claim she wanted to die at home ad be cremated,if you can believe that, but they fraudulently collected over $25,000 in pension benefits that were meant for the deceased woman,a fact that obliterates any credibility they might have had.
Their scheme unraveled when Allmonds other child,a son, grew suspicious of her whereabouts and they were arrested Sunday by the Tehama County sheriff's department on suspicion of embezzlement, elder abuse and disposing of a body without a permit and are being held in lieu of bail. They are due for an arraignment tomorrow.
I know that times are hard and everyone is feeling the economic pinch but this is sickening.Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of death, because while the family claims it was natural, would YOU believe anything they said ?This poor woman deserved a proper cremation if that is truly what she wanted, but then of course her checks would have stopped and they knew this, obviously. I'm thinking that they probably mooched off of their matriarch for many years before her death and did not want the wheels to fall off of their gravy train. Why no other family members became suspicious in the 10 months since she vanished, nobody knows, but I am glad they were busted so Mrs.Allmond can be laid to rest properly.

Oil Vs. Gas Prices
I was just curious, as of today the price of oil went down to $74.54/barrel according to Reuters. At the same time last year oil was $75.57/barrel according to the Energy Information Administration.
However, the average US price for gasoline today is $3.15 versus exactly one year ago the price for gas was $2.26. (Using the same information sources as above.)
Why can't someone see that? Are we happy gas goes below $3.00/gallon? Why don't the stations drop their prices as quickly as they raise them? I know greed and all that but come on!
I know you don't have the answer but just wanted to point out the facts for the readers to see.
Keep up the good work.
Jay"
Dear Jay:
That's easy. Just ask Frank Kratovil. You're paying for his ELECTION, that's why. Hence the Kratovil Signs posted at those Kratovil Gas Stations.
SPD Proactive Police Work!
While this alleged thief stole bags worth of merchandise from a local store in Salisbury, the SPD got a call on a tag number and one officer immediately saw the vehicle and pulled them over. Upon doing so, they found ALL of the stolen merchandise and arrested the alleged thief and he will soon have his day in court.
More to come when the Press Release comes out. So why won't you see these photos in the Daily Times? Because they have to be out and about to get this kind of stuff. Right now they're eating doughnuts and drinking coffee in their new building waiting for the news to come to them, hence the Press release, whenever that becomes available.
UPDATE:
The gentleman against the police car is the one who left the Giant Food store without paying for the items. He was chased out the South entrance and he got into the vehicle with the others. The tag number was called into the SPD, and they stopped him. An individual was able to identify the man in the top photo, they had more bags pulled out of the vehicle. The items brought back to the store and scanned came to around $3,000.00 from various stores. The stores involved were Giant, Super Fresh, and Rite-Aid.
Harris New Ad: Kratovil says, "We Solved the Crisis."
New Harris Ad: "Kratovil: Clueless, Liberal, and Very Wrong."
Ad cites Kratovil's statement that "The Crisis is Solved"
Annapolis - Today the Andy Harris for Congress campaign launched a new television ad showing Kratovil is out of touch with Maryland families.
On Monday October 6, 2008, Frank Kratovil stated he would have voted for the 700 billion dollar taxpayer funded bailout of Wall Street. On Tuesday, The Daily Times reported Kratovil said, "The Crisis is solved," when referencing the passage of the Wall-Street bailout bill passed by Congress.
"Maryland families are hurting from this economic crisis." said Andy Harris. "I will go to Washington to fight to improve the lives of working families."
"Frank Kratovil is wrong, The crisis is not solved." said Chris Meekins, Harris Campaign Manager. "By stating "the crisis is solved," Kratovil shows he is clueless about the crisis facing our economy."
Andy Harris opposed the taxpayer funded Wall Street bailout. He offered a different approach to solve our nation's economic crisis. His comments on the bailout bill are available at www.andyharris.com
The Harris campaign has original copies of The Daily Times article from October 7, 2008 where Kratovil stated "We solved the crisis." Despite the Kratovil campaign's claims, since that time, the campaign has not seen a correction printed in the Daily Times.

DOW drops below 9000
The Dow Jones industrial dropped more than 300 points, giving back a chunk of their huge 936-point advance from Monday.
There is major fear that consumers will unlikely reach into their wallets to make purchases over the next few months.
The Bailout was CRAP, it continues to prove it was CRAP and I've been saying it for years, America is in the sh!tter economic wise.
Bush has screwed Americans into Bankruptcy while Government Officials take on an additional $140 billion in PORK just to get their way. Think about it Folks. Kratovil said it himself. I was for the Bailout but not the original language. Then when I said, OK Frank, you were for the Bailout but not the language so when they added $140 billion more PORK into it, you supported it even more. YES!
Americans have become so passive, all they're interested in is how they can make their monthly payments. Remember how so many of you laughed at Farmers who buried their money and paid cash for everything? Who's feeling STUPID now?
A DEPRESSION is upon us Ladies & Gentlemen. Oh, but our Government will never say so.

PAC-14 Board Meets
After months of reading quotes in the Daily Times about how dysfunctional the PAC-14 board was, I thought that perhaps I had wandered into the wrong meeting. There were no food fights. No one stripped naked and started dancing on the conference table. No one even raised their voices. In fact, one criticism was that I had a hard time hearing board members Marvin Long and Michael Day a couple of times because they spoke softly and I was at the other end of the room.
What was the difference? The most obvious one was the absence of former chairman Betty Crockett. Given the past performances of Ms. Crockett and her cohort Jerry Waldron before council, it isn't a stretch to guess where any past dysfunction came from. Read More ...
The Future Development Of Camden Landing In Fruitland Is In Trouble
With the economy in the pooper, Developer Donnie Williams confronted the City Council last night making last minute offers to get this project to move forward before their November 1, 2008 deadline. However, the problem is, the City Council doesn't actually have final say in the offers and or changes.
Donnie kept insisting that the changes that the City is demanding has nothing to do with his development but others within the City disagree. They stated that they told Donnie from the very beginning that if they wanted to do this Development they would have to take care of the downstream improvements because of the overflow it would cause on the City's infrastructure.
They went back and forth for 45 minutes and the Council finally stated they would have to work these matters out with the County.
Donnie said he had been coming to them for four years now jumping through hoops. "We were asked to fix every single problem in the City of Fruitland."
Joyce Crouch Retires From City Of Fruitland
Joyce Crouch received a beautiful proclamation last night from the Fruitland City Council last night. County Executive Rick Pollitt was there for the ceremony as he worked hand in hand with Joyce for many years.
Joyce worked for the City for 34 years and will surely be missed. Her wealth of knowledge is going to be impossible to replace.
Joyce, enjoy your retirement in good health.
North Prong - Exhibit B
Mid-Term Revitalization: Exhibit B illustrates how some properties can redevelop and
co-exist with existing businesses. Redevelopment focuses on utilizing surface parking that
can serve as future development sites at a time when there is market demand for
additional density and structured parking. It is important to note that buildings and surface parking should be located so that adequate dimensions remain for future structured parking and/or infill development to maintain the greatest long-term flexibility.
Strategy B-1: Provide for a Mixture of Uses Including Existing and Future Uses
Immediate: Modify the zoning code to accommodate the recommendations of this revitalization plan.
Strategy B-2: Acknowledge and Respect the Character of the District and Neighboring Areas.
This might all sound good to some but to me it is nothing more than another load of manure being spread. How can the strategy be to provide a mixture of uses and include existing businesses and the immediate goal be to modify zoning codes? Does this mean they are going to zone the existing businesses right out of business in that area? Sounds like it to me considering their plan for the Perdue property. It sounds better than stealing their land via eminent domain. No matter how you slice it, it's still stealing their land.
Further into this plan it states The area around the North Prong was recently rezoned to the Riverfront Redevelopment Multiuse District No. 1 classification (Title 17, Chapter 17.104 of the City of Salisbury Municipal Code, a zoning code that covers the entire study area for the North Prong redevelopment plan Well what do you know, the zoning has already been changed and it hasn't been changed to support existing businesses. The plan further states The code was established to create a zoning platform for the redevelopment of the district as a commercial retail and residential center... This code does not include the light industrial activity of Taylor Oil, Bradley Oil, Perdue Farms and possibly all of the other businesses on the river.
All of the meetings, all of the time, energy and money spent putting this plan together and all of the lies told to the existing businesses on the North Prong, when it comes right down to it, the planners state in black and white The Riverfront Redevelopment Multiuse District No. 1 ordinance effectively renders nearly ALL of the existing uses inside the district as non-conforming. The planners didn't write these zoning codes, our overpaid legal mouthpiece Paul Wilber had a hand in this, doing as usual, the bidding of his master, Barrie and her band of thieves. To the credit of the planners they do suggest consideration should be given to the RRMD# 1 being modified to respect, to some degree, the industrial heritage of the North Prong. Like everything throughout the past 10 years of Barrie's reign of terror it would appear, this is yet another DONE DEAL.
While reading this final report I can't help but laugh at the language used to describe the existing structures on Mill Street and their uses or prospective uses. They acknowledge there are contributing historic buildings, sadly none of them are registered. Might be a thought for some of you property owners, that would throw a monkey wrench right in Barrie's plans.
Farmers & Planters is located at a KEY PARCEL...uh ohhhh not good for them. They go on to say a more detailed survey would be required to determine priorities for renovation and adaptive REUSE...a likely candidate to continue in its current use OR for reuse as office or retail uses.
Holloway Company Building Good news for Ronnie, his building appears, from the exterior to be well preserved. Bad news Ronnie...they are suggesting it could be successfully reused for office, retail and/or residential uses IF the existing business were not to remain.
Marcor Bad news for them, they've set their sites on this building as well. They say, it has great potential for adaptive reuse uh ohhhh.
Salisbury Monument Company Built in the 19th century this building was the old girls school that was located on Gay Street years ago. S.J. Disharoons ancestors bought it in the early 1900's and had it moved to their Mill Street property, the attitude of those preparing this report is it could be moved again if this owner wished to maintain his business but utilize a newer building. Now why in the hell would he want to pick up this historical building and relocate it again? Where would they have him put it? On Monitor Court? How about London Blvd? If S.J. and the citizens of Salisbury had any luck a tornado might pick it up and drop it right on top of the wicked witch of Salisbury and Bubba too.
Lastly there is the historical marker of sorts just up from Marcor. Maybe they can talk to Pete Cooper or George Chevalier for information on this, they won't lie.
This report contains things I'm sure Barrie wouldn't want anyone to know like the Historic District Design Guidelines they had prepared by the RBA Group and the Edgecombe Group were written to apply very specifically to Downtown, Camden and Newtown. There are no generalized guidelines for surviving historic buildings in other areas of the city or for infill development adjacent to historic structures. In essence the owners of these notably historic buildings on Mill Street have no protections from Barrie's bulldozer.
As much as I have read, so far, you can not convince me these folks have any interest in maintaining any of the existing businesses on the North Prong. They want that property sold and/or leveled for her developer buddies to come in and build her legacy. What will that legacy be? Another fancy place to be mugged?
They also suggest residential properties, upscale and work force. Please tell me who is going to pay a boatload of money for an upscale home to be built on the same block as work force housing aka cracker boxes with big price tags. Why don't we build some work force housing over on Johnson's Pond? That would make it easy for people working in the service industry to walk down that trail that is proposed to the North Prong. I wonder if Barrie or Bubba will be walking that trail? I certainly won't nor will anyone else with good sense.
I don't deny that area needs to be revitalized. It starts with good infrastructure. Barrie wants others to take pride in their property when she doesn't even take pride in the city she was elected to be mayor. Look at Mill St. Is that the fault of the property owners? They aren't the ones that solicit bids for street repair or resurfacing. They aren't the ones that solicit bids for crumbling sidewalks or curbing, that's the job of the city. Maybe Lore Chambers could help Pam Oland find those tax dollars these businesses pay and put it into resurfacing the street. Maybe Lore could write for grant funding to repair the sidewalks like she did for that bunch up on Isabella St. Maybe Lore should just hand in her resignation and let the city apply what she is paid towards repairs.

Tuesday Was Register a Criminal to Vote Day!
Yes folks, Tuesday inmates at the Worcester County Detention Center, Somerset County Detention Center, and Wicomico County Center were provided absentee ballots, voter registration forms and address change forms courtesy of the Maryland ACLU, and the Worcester County Chapter of the NAACP.
Apparently, criminals are disenfranchised and are not aware of their legal voting rights.
Criminals cannot be currently serving time or on parole if they would like to vote. But many of the folks who were registered today have not yet been convicted.
Accordingling, some crimes require a three year wait to vote, while others still prevent voting ever again.
It used to be up to the Criminal to find these things out, as being such good citizens I am sure that was foremost in their mind in their re-entry to society and wanting to be a good citizens. Now, thanks to the NAACP and the ACLU they no longer have to worry about that, as these organizations will be right there and register Americas finest.
This is the opitomy of BS, and shows the ever new lows that the NAACP and ACLU will stoop.

4.) My Family Has Strong Ties To African Freedom - NOT EXACTLY; your cousin Raila Odinga has created mass violence in attempting to overturn a legitimate election in 2007, in Kenya . It is the first widespread violence in decades. The current government is p ro-American but Odinga wants to overthrow it and establish Muslim Sharia law. Your half-brother, Abongo Obama, is Odinga's follower. You interrupted your New Hampshire campaigning to speak to Odinga on the phone.
Obama's cousin Odinga in Kenya ran for president and tried to get Sharia muslim law in place there. When Odinga lost the elections, his followers have burned Christians' homes and then burned men, women and children alive in a Christian church where they took shelter.. Obama SUPPORTED his cousin before the election process here started. Google Obama and Odinga and see what you get. No one wants to know the truth.

Barack Hussein Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother's side and 43.75% Arabic and 6.25% African Negro from his father's side. While Barack Hussein Obama's father was from Kenya , his father's family was mainly Arabs.. February 28, 2008. Kristoff from the New York Times a year ago: Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, re citing them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it'll give Alabama voters heart attacks); Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as 'one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.' This is just one example of what Pamela is talking about when she says 'Obama's narrative is being altered, enhanced and manipulated to whitewash troubling facts.'

PRMC To Purchase The Gannett Daily Times Building
While this building was constructed in 1957, the current assessment value is $950,000.00 and was sold to the Thomson, Brush, Moore Newspapers Inc. back in 2000 for $1,100,000.00.
I recently learned that PRMC is purchasing it to expand their Radiology Department. The amount of the sale has yet to to be disclosed.
Delmarva Recycling is at the building dismantling the antique Press in order to recycle the material. It's a serious undertaking but probably worth some serious money.
Nevertheless, the Moving Company is on location taking out what's left of the furnishings inside and soon enough there will be traffic jams like there's no tomorrow from PRMC traffic coming and going. Perhaps they'll get their visitors to enter the side parking lot instead of the main road out front?

No, I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you? So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people... Absolutely No Profiling!
They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males alone lest they be guilty of profiling.
According to The Book of Revelations:
The Anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40s, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal....the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, he will destroy everything.
And Now:
For the award winning Act of Stupidity Of all times the People of America want to elect, to the most Powerful position on the face of the Planet -- The Presidency of the United states of America ... A Male of Muslim descent who is the most extremely liberal Senator in Congress (in other words an extremist) and in his 40s.
Have the American People completely lost their Minds, or just their Power of Reason ???
I'm sorry but I refuse to take a chance on the 'unknown' candidate Obama...
Let's send this to as many people as we can so that the Gloria Aldreds and other stupid attorneys along with Federal Justices that want to thwart common sense, feel ashamed of themselves -- if they have any such sense.
As the writer of the award winning story 'Forrest Gump' so aptly put it, 'Stupid Is As Stupid Does'
A LICK AND A PROMISE
'What is that supposed to mean,' I asked as in my young mind I envisioned someone licking the floor with his or her tongue.
'It means that I'm in a hurry and I'm busy canning tomatoes so I am going to just give it a lick with the mop and promise to come back and do the job right later.
'A lick and a promise' was just one of the many old phrases that our mothers, grandmothers, and others used that they probably heard from the generations before them. With the passing of time, many old phrases become obsolete or even disappear. This is unfortunate because some of them are very appropriate and humorous. Maybe some of you will remember some of these or have heard some of them before, anyway hope you enjoy reading them. Here is a list of some of those memorable old phrases:

Well, if you hold your horses, I reckon I'll get this whole kit and caboodle done and sent off to you. Please don't be too persnickety and get a bee in your bonnet because I've been pretty tuckered out and at sea lately because I'm no spring chicken. I haven't been just stringin' around and I know I'm not the only duck in the pond, but I do have too many irons in the fire. I might just be barking at a knot, but I have tried to give this article more than just
A lick and a promise.
