PRMC To Purchase The Gannett Daily Times Building

While this building was constructed in 1957, the current assessment value is $950,000.00 and was sold to the Thomson, Brush, Moore Newspapers Inc. back in 2000 for $1,100,000.00.

I recently learned that PRMC is purchasing it to expand their Radiology Department. The amount of the sale has yet to to be disclosed.

Delmarva Recycling is at the building dismantling the antique Press in order to recycle the material. It's a serious undertaking but probably worth some serious money.

Nevertheless, the Moving Company is on location taking out what's left of the furnishings inside and soon enough there will be traffic jams like there's no tomorrow from PRMC traffic coming and going. Perhaps they'll get their visitors to enter the side parking lot instead of the main road out front?

  1. Surprise, surprise. Wasn't this the plan from the start?
(It's doubtful anyone else interested could buy it.)

  2. PRMC is just like SU - buy up everything around them but in the case of PRMC, their delivery of service still stinks, no matter how much bigger they get.

  3. Just wait until health care is socialized and you get to wait months and even years before treatment you bunch of ingrates. PRMC like all hospitals has many hardworking, dedicated, compassionate health care providers, and as one of those providers I am extremely angry at the bashing we are getting on this blog. We work nights, weekends, holidays, we deal in sputum, vomit, feces, and yes we chose this profession because it is rewarding. But unless you have walked a mile in my Crocs , shut the hell up.

  4. There goes another piece of commercial property OFF the tax rolls. Salisbury property owners better tighten up, another tax increase will be upon us. Someone has to support all of Barries bad decisions.

  5. This is old news. Several groups were interested in the property, but its a very crappy building. PRMC should buy it. I thought it was going to be more parking, but we will see.

  6. IF this is old news, show me one place it was printed and or posted.

    Yeah, I didn't think so.

  7. PRMC needs more waiting room for emerg. room people. That may be large enough.
Go to Atlantic General !! It's worth the drive!

  8. The care givers on the upper floors might be good but that crew in the emergency room leaves a lot to be desired. Anytime a kid goes in with what could be appendicitis and they diagnose lymphnode, prescribe Ibuprofen and it turns out to be a urinary tract infection, something is very wrong. The management of PRMC should be ashamed of themselves for expanding the ER but not increasing the number of caregivers. More room, same amount of staff from less space. If brains were trains you would have all missed your stop.

  9. Dear Anon 9:09,

Seriously, walk a mile in my Crocs? Please.

Unless you want to end your "op ed" with the phrase, "I also work for free" please just shut your mouth and get back to work.

Honestly....this is the profession you chose. Act like a professional.

  10. Don't worry about what the hospital pays for the Times building, it probably worth about 5 million to them when you consider they recently purchased a house on the corner of Newton and Center Street for $275,000 when the house was probably worth $85,000. That's not a bad buy I guess.

  11. Dear Anon 9:09

It's nice to see PRMC administration is still allowed to post on the site. Sounds like you're drinking the Peggy Kool-aid again.

A side note. Why is PRMC building a Radiology center here since the Radiology doctors are building their own off site building on Rt. 50? I see this ass their why of screwing the Radiologist who are contracted at the hospital. As a former employee it doesn't surprise me.

By the way Joe, Salisbury News is blocked at PRMC, but Gay Porn isn't!!! Go Figure.

  12. I guess their idea to control and censor their employees by blocking sbynews backfired. I guess the gay porno is not as X rated as sbynews.

  13. If the building does become part of PRMC, perhaps a pedestrian walkway elevated over Carroll St. might alleviate the traffic and pedestrian crossing problems.

And 9:09, unless you've had family members neglected while inpatients and misdiagnosed in the ER over and over again, causing permanent damage, I suggest you "shut the hell up."

  14. Another Property in the City that doesn't have to pay taxes....Why is the city so broke; PRMC and SU don't have to pay taxes on any property.
