You've Got To Love The Eastern Shore!

It drives me absolutely CRAZY when I'm driving down the road in any one of my vehicles and in front of me are two pickup trucks and or SUV's. We come upon Railroad Tracks and all of a sudden we go from driving 35 mph to a dead stop because these axxholes have to baby the vehicles designed to go off road and come to almost a complete stop!

It doesn't matter where you're at, Delmar is horrible and I can't say as I blame anyone for slowing down but when you're driving near the Sheriff's Department and it's smooth as silk, these Idiots deserve to be rear ended by an old, oh, let's say 1991 Chevy Pickup Truck!

It never fails at that location too. I don't care if the people in front of me are in a car, they almost come to a stop and you can very clearly see to your left or right if a train is coming. Anyhow, I just thought I'd get that off my chest and see if YOU experience the same problem.

Eastern Shore Rednecks, your vehicle won't fall to pieces and you paid all that money so it can handle conditions like this. These vehicles are not held to a law in which they have to stop for R/R Tracks! Watch out for a 1991 Chevy Pickup in your rear view mirror. The image WILL be closer than it appears!

  1. wow whoever wrote that is an ass... some ppl are more cautious then others when crossing RR. if you paid attention and kept a safe distance between vehicles you wouldn't have a problem god forbid you lose 20 precious seconds cause someone slowed down to an almost stopped pace.

  2. 1991 chevy pickup referring to Eastern Shore Rednecks. Looking into the rear view mirror sounds like a threat to me and ROAD RAGE! What are you doing here anyway?

  3. Go ahead and hit my F350 with a 6" lift and 37"tall tires. You will have more damage to your Chevy than I will. Maybe I am being careful Not to get hit by a train and Killed Like a family member was.

  4. Plz hit them. Bought time we see your name in the police blog.

  5. Joe, I have a similar complaint but it's about people driving 45 in the passing lane on the highway when the right hand lane is wide open...or how about the 50 mph. rolling roadblock? Where's that surface-to-air missle when you need one?!

  6. Thanks for all the comments already!

I was hoping some of you would come back defensive but let me go on now and explain this situation a little more.

You see, this is NOT Baltimore where an Amtrak Train is flying by at 100 mph!

The R/R Tracks are well lit with these really big RED blinking lights and bells going off to let you know a train is coming.

In case there's a failure of the bells and light, be really careful of the train going warp speed at 2 miles per hour! You can feel the rumble of these trains, you can hear their engines and let me assure you that you can hear their horns within a mile on that intersection!

So again, nay sayers, you pansies pamper your vehicles like they're Lincoln's that can't take the abuse.

Admit it, you think your someone special looking to gain attention from everyone in both directions. OOOOOH, look, it's a really clean pickup truck daddy! No son, that's just one of those Idiot Rednecks, BAM!

  7. Since starting (and finishing) college at SU I've noticed that people on the Eastern Shore are some of the worst drivers I have ever come in contact with.

And no, it isn't "cautious" driving when you come to a complete stop on a 40mph road. It isn't "cautious" driving when you do 20mph all the way down 13 at the slightest evidence of rain.

You drive with the gas pedal, not the brake. If you're that "cautious" (Read: scared) of driving, then for the love of god stay out of the left hand lane. That's all I ask out of you.

  8. most of the people that own the suvs and pickups have never even taken them off pavement, they just want to show how much money that can spend.
i personally know people that will not put anything in the back of their truck because they dont want to get it dirty or scratch the bed.
what they need to do is sell it and get a car.

  10. It's just the way I drive, my 2000 expedition needs washing and has 2billion miles on it, I still slow down in the rain and for railroad tracks. Please, please-rearend my truck, the damage to your truck will keep it off the road, 1991 Chevy!!!
BTW I love chevy, Ford was cheaper when I was in the market for an SUV.

  11. Regardless of what is said here it comes down to who will get the ticket when you rear-end anyone.

  15. most of these people have never had the suv/truck off the pavement and only have them to show off how much they can spend.

  16. If you don't like how we drive; move. There are no laws preventing you from moving back to NY. Same goes if you complain of the smell from chicken manure.

  17. Joe, I read your blogs all the time. I like how you are on top of things, whether you are right or wrong. But, this comment on calling people Eastern Shore Rednecks and Assholes, who were born and raised on the Eastern Shore do not deserve this. You are obviously a transplant from the other side or somewhere other than here. I get angry too, but, that doesn't make everyone an eastern shore redneck. I was born and raised here, worked here paying taxes and retired. I find this ignorant of you. How can you expect people to read your shit.
I am going to sign my name, and then, you won't like me either. Go back to where you come from if this is the respect we get.

  18. Dear Joan:

This Post was supposed to be directed to only those people who pull this crap. Based on your being so defensive, are you one of them, respectfully?

If so, I take back nothing at all. I do not feel that every person driving a pickup truck or suv is an Eastern Shore Redneck. Only those who pull this crap at R/R Tracks.

Like it or not, you know what I'm saying is true and frustrating. Every person behind those vehicles is thinking, why the hell did that Idiot buy that damn thing if he's afraid of hurting his suspension over R/R Tracks.

Thanks for sharing your opinion and no, I'm not at all mad at you. You have every right to your opinion, just as I do. There is a thing caled, agree to disagree. Keep the peace and Merry Christmas.

  19. you are absolutely right. it is crazy on how people slow down, just to worry about their truck, or that they cant drive any better than Miss Malone could curl her hair and accidentally burning her neck.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Come on Joe you know the liberals killed Christmas. There is only Festivus now. As for the RR track thing, very annoying and it would be my guess most of them do it to be annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I haven't experienced the RR thing but what I can't stand is when you are driving along a stretch of road and someone pulls up to the stop sign on a side road then pulls out in front of you when you are less than 20 feet away. Just had not 1 but 2 Perdue trucks from the plant on Zion Church Rd do this to me today!

  22. I agree with some posters. I know people with 4 wheel drive vehicles and they would NEVER drive them off road. To me, thats like buying a CD player and not buying CD's or a DVD player and not buying DVD's.
    LOL

  23. a holes around salisbury CANNOT DRIVE i drive a truck and go all over east coast this is the worst place i have ever driven.

    ReplyDelete
  24. i think its habit from the way the road right there used to be

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hey, haven't you people thought of safety first? People are like that because they don't want to be killed. And another thing, US REDNECKS know how to drive. And its mostly the rich greedy morons that do that. Hey, why won't you bring your 1991 chevy out to the sand pits and see how it does. I'll bet my truck will do better.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oh, I feel ya. Drives me nuts too. Most of the crossings you can see if there is a train approaching and if not there are lights. Nothing says you must stop at the tracks if there is not a train coming unless you are transporting people for hire or transporting a hazardous material.

  27. While we're on the subject of bad drivers, can we inform them that "Yield" is NOT French for "Stop"?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Glad I don't run that pretty green Freightshaker up and down the roads anymore. YES, I was always, stylin and profilin, as I've been told. When I hit those tracks on Naylor Mill road I almost came to a stop. This was before they repaired the road there. I couldn't have my rear axles bouncing up and down especially with air ride suspension. Now if you want to run into the back of something, run into one of them. You'll find they don't move so easily. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'll be looking for you in my rearview Joe. Just be careful how close you get because I will own your azz.

    ReplyDelete
  30. While we are talking about driving who was the drunk that designed the roads. Is there even 1 straight intersection between Salisbury and Ocean city. You can't just go straight across if you do you either end up on the wrong side of the road or not on the road at all. Another thing the state spends millions of dollars on turn lanes on rt 50. THEY ARE TO BE USED SO YOU CAN SLOW DOWN TO TURN. This means you dont slow down to 35 in the fast lane first.

    ReplyDelete
  31. That will be O.K. but you will need to have a front end loader close by to pick up the pile of rust from the 91 Chevy.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Re: 3:03

AMEN! Slowing down in the fast lane & not using turn signals are my pet peeves. Personally I've never dealt w/ the R/R thing. It's easy to see/hear a train long before it gets to the intersection so there is no need to slow to a near stop.

  33. For all of you people who don't like the way native Shoremen drive - move back to where you came from, because there's way too many of you here ruining a way of life. For all of you people who drive slow in the fast lane - you're discourteous to the nth degree. For you people who are in a "fog" while talking on a cell phone and driving - you are a potential "killer". For you people who are against people with 4 wheel drive vehicles - do you expect them to drive off the road 100% of the time? Using your same rationale, nobody should have a vehicle capable of going faster than 65 MPH, because they can't use it; but I'll bet all of your cars can go faster than that. Also let me add - my peeve is tailgaters. If you don't want a personal confrontation with me, don't do it.

  34. I know I am a day late & a dollar short on this one BUT.... Joan Baker, a way of life, please do explain? Do you mean the excessive amounts of ammonia being secreted into the ozone, or the cancer inducing carcinogens from the fertilizers? Another thing western natives are not transplants they are imports always worth more than domestic and much better tasting. To anon 11:37, there are highways out there that DO go over 65mph, get out of the state once in a while it might do you good to see how others live and drive.
