Wicomico Humane Society Yanks 1 Dead Dog & 13 Other Dogs From Owner

The Wicomico Humane Society and the Wicomico County Sheriff's Department took 13 Pit Bulls from a Terrell Strawberry Wednesday. Mr. Strawberry has quite the criminal history HERE. Just type in his name and you'll see what I'm talking about.

An anonymous caller contacted Linda and told her these animals were dying and they immediately dispatched an Animal Control Officer and Sheriff's Deputy to the location. I spoke with Linda Lugo of the Humane Society and she told me these animals were in very poor condition. Upon arrival they immediately found one Pit Bull dead. A necropsy report should be returned to the HS some time tomorrow afternoon with the cause of death. They then found 13 others in which you could see all of their ribs and hip bones. Some also had open wounds.

Out of the 13 removed, 4 of them were puppies, 1 three month old, 1 five month old and 2 six months old. Of the 13 dogs removed, most of them were females and a few of them were very aggressive.

Terrell Strawberry didn't cause any trouble when they decided to remove the animals and allegedly claimed he just couldn't feed them, yet once they arrived he pulled out a bag of dog food out of the car.

On an earlier Post the other day someone had made the claim that someone breeding terriers held them in very poor condition as well. I told Linda about this and she and I are trying to go back to the Post that was on but we want you to know the following. The Humane Society can't be everywhere. Please contact them if you see any of these kind of conditions and she assures me they will follow up on it immediately. To the person who wrote that comment, please cal Linda Lugo at 410-749-7603. If you cannot reach her, please contact me directly at 410-430-5349 and I will contact Linda on her cell phone and we'll make sure the situation is taken care of.

Linda wanted to let everyone know how much she appreciated the backup and support given by the Sheriff's Department. She closed our conversation with, "Joe, we have 13 dogs right now who are warm, safe and dry."

Now you can see just how fast the HS can go from no animals to a house full in no time. They fed these animals and believe it or not the dogs didn't even know what was being placed in front of them at the time. It took them a while before they even started eating.

I can't go into any more details for obvious reasons but we'll keep you posted on the progress of these animals.

Another story you won't see anywhere else today.

  2. Joe,
I love your compassion for these animals and "THANK YOU" for all you've been doing to save the lives of them...as far as this guy goes I think we as a society should return the treatment to him...he's worthless scum that deserves to be treated the way he treated those dogs...I am so beside myself on how he could of done that to them...it wasn't about not being able to feed them...

  3. Is the H.S. going to allow these dogs to be adopted? How long will we have to wait to adopt them?

  4. 9:21, Michael Vick's case is very different from this, based on the information posted on here. Vick participated on dig fighting and gambling on the dogs. He also killed the dogs if they didn't win and allowed the fighting dogs to destroy the bodies of the dead dogs. So far, it has not been proven that Strawberry has done anything like this; they were just malnourished and sick. Strawberry should be punished for this, but you can't compare his case to Vick; they are 2 separate things. And Vick got what he deserved!

  6. I adopted a six month old pit bull from the humane society almost 5 years ago and she has been a perfectly good dog and it is a shame that ignorant people cause such innocent dogs to have such a bad reputation. I would not trade my dog in for the world.

  7. Yeah Michael Vick even had the teeth removed from the pit bitches to keep them from attacking during forced mating.B*st*rd.....how would he like to have all
his teeth pulled forcefully....and then be put into what amounts to a "rape restraint"?

Anyhoo, a friend told me that she heard a place in Sussex County breeding Chihuahas had a large number of them seized this week-anyone know anything about this????

  8. Why did the dogs have open wounds if he wasnt fighting them?

  9. No matter how you compare it to vick..the dog still died because of mistreatment..which is animal abuse. It should carry the same sentence as vick...but it won't

  10. Since the Wicomico Humane Society doesn't adopt out pit bulls, what will happen to these dogs? Is there a rescue that can step in so they aren't "humanely euthanized"? They deserve a chance at a better life!

As for the former owner, he deserves to have his a$$ kicked!

  11. People who abuse animals will abuse people. Let's put Mr. Strawberry out of his misery and euthanize him. Society would be better off without him.
