Mayor Barrie Tilghman Finally QUITS!

Barrie Tilghman calls it quits and will NOT run again. There is a God. The Daily Times finally printed the Court Date in which the Mayor is suing me for saying that there are FOB's out there. TWO of her neighbors are ready to testify in Court proving there are. Several of them recently witnessed the street sweeper and Public Works cleaning up leaves on her road and throughout her neighborhood.

First Dunn quit, then Cathcart, now Tilghman. THE BLOGS HAVE WON! Remember how Barrie said she would wait till after the Holidays to announce her decision? Last week at the Red Cross Luncheon, that sealed the deal. She saw how well I was received at that event while NO ONE would have anything to do with her. She stood there like a lost puppy and eventually stormed out of there. Her support is GONE. Barrie Tilghman, I cannot wait until our Court Date so we can finish you for good. Here's some of what was said in the Daily Times.

"Her tenure also was marked by high profile disputes with residents who lampooned her with racy photos or negative performance reviews in Internet blogs -- part of a group she deemed "The Dirty Dozen" in 2006. Tilghman sued one of them, Delmar blogger Joe Albero, on charges of defamation of character. A trial is scheduled for Jan. 21 in the District Court for Wicomico County.

Despite the lawsuit and Tilghman's public press conference decrying the "negativity" on the blogs, she said the issue isn't necessarily one that requires fixing.

"The citizenry has always shown great resilience," she said. "The citizens of Salisbury will take care of Salisbury. This group of people (who spread negativity) are without alternatives. The goal of this group is to be negative."

  1. WHILE READING THE DAILY TIMES ON LINE OLD PRUNE FACE SAYS SHE FOUGHT CORRUPTION IN THE POLICE FORCE. WHAT TILGHMAN DID WAS DESTROY CHIEF DYKES THE MOST RESPECTED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICALS. CHIEF DYKES WAS THE BEST THING THAT HAPPENED TO SPD HE BUILT DEPARTMENT AND LOOK AT IT NOW. REST IN PEACE CHIEF DYKES

  2. Congratulations Joe! I'm sure Mr. Duvall is smiling from ear to ear as well today knowing the blogs have finally defeated the most crooked woman ever known to the eastern shore. You brought down her empire and no matter how she twists it the blogs defeated her. We're one step closer to a better life Salisburians. Now get rid of Bubba and life will finally be good again.

  3. I concur, she called it quits after she realized no one supported her any more. I was at the Red Cross luncheon and it was almost as if everyone was afraid to be seen near her. I wondered what happened to her and asked a friend where the Mayor went. She informed me that no one showed up at her table and no one was speaking to her so she abruptly left. Its about time she got the hint.

  12. You beat her Joe, no two ways about it. There has been only one person who has been strong enough to stand up to her and survive and only one man who ever beat her and that's Joe Albero.

Someone mentioned Bill Duvall earlier. He must be very proud of you right now Joe because even he gave up and quit.

In my opinion, I wouldn't want to be Gary Comegys with this Blog still out there. You made Barrie miserable, can you just imagine how you'd make Gary feel.

Anyhow, the Dirty Dozen have defeated the monster. The only way she was ever going to quit was by knowing for sure that she couldn't get the votes.Jim Ireton is a candidate she knew she couldn't defeat and the embarrassment of such a defeat would destroy her for the rest of her life.

Thank you Joe and thank you Jim.

  15. This is great news for Salisbury! Joe, once again you did what you started out to do. Great work!

I only have one question which I'm sure I should know. What does FOB mean?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Its about time. Maybe this once great city can get back to normal. The nerve of her stating that Comegys is the most qualified is obsurd. This shows her twisted thinking and poor judgement. Gordo and See know they wont get their way now. Time to exit.

  20. God Bless you Joe and everything you have done! I remember the day Barrie laughed in my face then continued to further her own agenda in spite of the truth. Well, I truly believe what comes again goes around. You are a lonely despicable woman barrie and I am glad for the city that your gig is up.I will laughing when your twin Comegys loses too. I'm one of those more than a dirty dozen who will be out in force for Jim Ireton.

Oh and barrie, you always like to quote her late father? Well I'm sure he is so proud now. Maybe a son would have been better. Good riddance.

  21. The last thing anyone running for office needs is an endorsement from Barry Tilghman. By far most of the citizens of Salisbury readily recognize that Tilghman and her administration have doomed this city in a way that will take YEARS to get out from under. Money has been wasted at monumental levels. Entire neighborhoods have been laid to waste due to an administration that totally ignored fundamental needs in an everchanging world. This will be a difficult fix for the next mayor. But like they say. The journey of a thousand miles......

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ahh, you may have won the battle, I feel she's going to win the war. Considering I am responsible for collecting every thing you have said about her from your blog for so long, many in legal circles feel your day is about to come closing in on you! You're about to find out your 1st amendment rights end when they infringe on others. Have fun, see you in court!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Two Thoughts:

Let's hope -- and see to it -- that FOB doesn't come to mean "Friend of Bubba".

Let's hope for a housecleaning of Barrie's buddies in City Hall -- Wilber, Insley, See, Gordy, Webster and Randy Taylor, for starters. Not sure about Oland, Caldwell & Stephenson.

Pick will probably find other employment.

  24. "City Clerk Brenda Colegrove said Friday afternoon that only Comegys and Penna have officially filed their candidacy. The deadline is Jan. 20. The primary election is March 3, and the election will be held April 7". Did Jim Ireton file?

  26. Let's just call me, lawyer,

IF you were a true lawyer you would know that Barrie Tilghman can only sue me ONCE!

You just keep colecting what you THINK are legal matters. It just goes to confirm, the logs brought her down.

Long Live The Blogs and stop acting like a lawer because you're clueless and now everyone else is educated.

    ReplyDelete
  27. 10:07 or maybe Paul Wilber? Go back to sleep. That you are good at! The only thing corrupt about the city is barrie at the wheel. Let's see how many openings will be coming to salisbury. City administrator, police chief, fire chief (and their second in command - both idiots), finance director and oh the list goes on. CALL ME JIM IRETON!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yep, there's a LOT of people out there about to lose their jobs.

  29. Barrie has created her own downfall. She has been nothing but detrimental to this City. And as another person on whom she set her sights in her unending quest to destroy those who oppose her, I am so thankful that she has finally seen that her reign is over. It was clear from the outset that Barrie was going to be trouble for the citizens of Salisbury and to the City itself.

Good job, Joe -- it is important to note that Joe pointed out Barrie's failings to manage the City and he has a right to do that.

Another member who has been defamed by Barrie's public labeling of the Dirty Dozen.

    Dirty Dozen x hundreds!!!!!!

P.S. and remember Gary = Barrie.
    We want Mayor Caldwell!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Joe--keep running this at the top!!! It's the best news we citizens have had!!!!!!!! Go, Joe!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'd be careful if I were you Joe. You see, Barrie used to keep a large cut-out figure of Chief Dykes in her basement. I think her issues with him had to do with a woman scorned if you know what I mean. Frankly he had better taste. But her problem is she thinks she's better than everyone else. She got to Chief Dykes the only way she could - become his boss. That was her agenda after years of trying to push Robin Cockey into the job. Now that she will have time on her hands, you may become her pet project.

She can't seek a higher political office becasue she is the laughing-stock of the Eastern Shore.

    ReplyDelete
  32. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 'the witch is dead"!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I personally feel that the decision of Ms.Tilghman is a good one because when a politician looses sight of whom they serve, they should no longer serve. They deserve the venom of the constituents. They deserve to be taken to task. However, this is not the end of the kind of thinking that has run Salisbury for her whole administration. Mr. Comegys is a Barry Tilghman clone.

The Dirty Dozen,(the citizens who have been watchdogs) Terry Cohen, Debbie Campbell, council members, and the blogs have certainly tried to keep the public aware of the poor leadership and ineptitude of the Tilghman administration, that pressure on her certainly helped in her decision to quit.I am sure.

However, please steer clear of taking "credit"; those who have been watchdogs should never ever stop, never sit on thier laurels and say "we did it" because there is one coming right behind her; Gary Comegys he is cut from the same cloth, and has (not voted against the Mayor's policies for many years at least that I have seen) So he has been in lock step with her all along, so has Shaney Shields, the people have meant nothing to any of them.

Please take into consideration that the victory you claim, is not full or complete until all of the remainder, including Mr. Comegys Ms. Shields, are also gone from public office. Let's not forget that Mr. Comegys thinks he should be mayor. It will be Barry Tilghman in that chair, not Mr. Comegys. I know.

  36. Lawyer

I hope you didn't take out student loans for your education. If so, you paid for a pig-in-a-poke.

First, the law suit would be a smaller battle in the war to remove Tilghman from office. If you can't recognize that, I would hate to see what your legal strategy would look like.

Second, if you can't understand the concept that the First Amendment was SPECIFICALLY included in the Bill of Rights to protect citizens (We The People)from retribution for directing open criticism toward politicians, your mental capacity renders you incapable of pursuing a legal career in a free society. You would, however, be successful in a socialist society. Perhaps you should establish domocile in one of the many that remain in the world and leave Salisbury to the business of healing after this spoiled tyrant and her loyal council members are gone.

Major Kudos on this, with a big assist to Mr. Stu Leer. Your blog tilled the ground for his coup de grace when he revealed the real Barrie Tilghman ("get even") that we don't see when she is giving out those certificates at the start of the City Council meetings (what a joke that is).

Please help us keep Bubba Comegys out of the mayor's office.

  43. 10:22...I think Joe posted a press release from the Ireton camp that his official papers are going to be filed shortly before Christmas.

Joe, do I have that right?

BTW, if memory serves, the "Dirty Dozen" name came out after Barrie and Mikey lost the old mall petition. I think it was Bubba who actually named names in an email.

I remember Barrie was so down on all the people who were speaking out back then in public comment. She's always hated Debbie Campbell. It must have really pissed her off when Terry Cohen got elected.

I hope everyone here will go make a donation to Jim Ireton today in celebration of this news. He's going to need REAL support, not just "attaboys" if he's going to beat Bubba. Don't underestimate Gary = Barrie. He'll have Gordy behind him again. And SOMEHOW, they managed to pull out the last election for that good ole boy.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Joe:

I would not proclaim victory until 5:05 PM on the filing deadline.

We heard the same line of BS from Honiss Cane here in Pocomoke and guess what?

He filed to run again because "he could not find a qualified replacement" to represent his district.

Of course X-Councilman Cane moved out of his district over 1-year ago and disqualified himself from retaining his council seat, but nothing happened and he is still the "God Father" of P-City.

There was one issue I supported Mayor Barrie on that I will continue to support; No City Manager Form of Government!

Just because the Mayor pisses you off, they can be voted out but a City Manager cannot.

If you all think Salisbury is bad off c'mon down to Pocomoke City and score some refreshing crack cocaine compliments of the Mayor, Chief, City Council and Boss Hogg

  50. To Anon 9:25 am - What do you mean nothing or no one else to talk about? What about the corrupt slum lords? They haven't gone away yet that I'm aware of. What about the zoo that desperately needs to be put somewhere else? What about the park - that is only a meeting place for kids skipping school and for druggies? Barrie has corrupted this town to the point that it will take more years to fix than I probably have to live. She is a total embarrassment to this community and I can understand why no one wants to associate with her at a luncheon or any other time.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Many have put themselves in the path of the wrath of city hall over the years in order for the citizens to have a good opportunity to elect (and reelect in the case of Campbell) people who will represent them first and foremost. Blogs have been crucial in breaking the grip of local mainstream media to get the truth out. How much do you think Salisburians would really know about sewage spills, audit problems, and other serious issues if bloggers like Joe hadn't taken a bold step? Thank you to the "dirty dozen," those who came before them, and those who are currently involved. It will take the effort of everyone to win in the upcoming election. Don't just vote, get involved with the campaigns. This is our best chance to continue with the momentum that began with the election of Campbell - representatives who actually serve the taxpayers. The exposure of audit findings that revealed the lack of ability to balance the city's checkbook, and wreckless spending of tax dollars and much more would never have come to light without our collective dedication and energy.

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Hap Happy New Year!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I can hardly contain my happiness! But I agree with the poster who said don't celebrate until after the filing deadline. I don't trust anything Tilghman says.

Both Jim Ireton and Bob Caldwell are good men. Of the two, I lean toward Ireton. If Caldwell runs, I hope he doesn't split the vote so that Bubba has a cake walk. It would be great if Ireton and Caldwell ended up in the general election with Bubba shut out, but I'm afraid it isn't going to work that way.

But I can dream, can't I? I wish both Bubba and Louweasel would just resign. Neither of them can be trusted. They, like Tilghman, have done enough damage and should just go home.

    ReplyDelete
  56. We're one step closer to a better life Salisburians. Now get rid of Bubba and life will finally be good again.

    8:53 AM

I had to laugh when I read that. That is what so many were saying when the "Dream Team" won some years ago, and look what happened. That's also what people said when Louise Smith was elected to the Council, and look what happened. The cliche "You may regret what you wish for" is applicable here. Even if Jim Ireton, whom many seem to regard as the Salisbury Messiah, is elected, will he be able to work with the Council? Obviously, that depends on the Council. If you think that he is in sync with Terri Cohen and Debbie Campbell and that all will be good, you might be in for a rude awakening.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I have a stupid question! How come Joe tells people to lawyer up when people talk about he and his family? Why would you lawyer up when you can trash anyone you want and get away with it?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Just read the article in the Daily Slime. I'd like to see how she exactly "rolled up her sleaves" to help the City. I swear this lady thinks she is queen of Salisbury and just walked into the city and said I'm your saviour and I will fix everything.

The reason she doesn't want to run another term is she knows she can't take it anymore, with most of the citizens of Salisbury against her now, because sbynews reported how thing really get done in the town of Salisbury. I'm glad I'm moving out of the city very soon and out on the east side of Wicomico.

    ReplyDelete
  59. She didn't fight police corruption, she went after Chief Dykes for a personal vendetta, she made it look like corruption, but it was for her, then she s%&t on all those who worked with her thinking it was to improve the police. She quickly and very throughly sold them out and left them out in the cold. Show me one area that Salisbury is better since she became mayor. I am so glad that she quit, Joe thanks for the pressure. Please lets get someone who truly has the best for Salisbury in their heart.

    ReplyDelete
  60. First amendment will win again. TILGHMAN is an elected PUBLIC official and there for open to PUBLIC scrutiny verbal and otherwise.
If you are her lawyer you are a bigger joke than she.

Thank God for the Internet and great bloggers. Maybe people wanting to be in offices will do it with honor knowing they are watched ,judged, and BLOGGED!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Hear Ye, Hear Ye! Don't worry about district one, "Help is on the way" there also. All in due time, there is no hurry to inject the Tsunami ready to strike at the polls this year.

District one will also be a big player in the election of Jim Ireton as well, if district one wants to be represented, unlike the last four years, they will need to get out and vote, they know it and they are ready to make their voice heard through the voting process. Many are alresdy registered to vote from the national election to vote for Obama. Now we need to make sure they have a way to the polls and vote locally.

If Gary had a once of brain cells he'd reject the mayor's endorsement as the "Kiss of Death," in politics, for somebody that better not quit his day job. Coupe da ta on the way, Touche! Gary won't even have anyone to second his motions, let him see what Debbie Campbell had to endure during het first 4 years.

I see Jim Ireton's signs and bumper stickers already, he must have filed already because he would need a treasurer before doing so and to accept contibutions to pay for those. I wouldn't look for it in the newspaper.

In many places at the city webiste, it's all antiquated, a lot of old outdated issues. The Albero Times? Will we ever see that? Time to stick a fork in the paper too, it's dunn.

With 5 or 6 sewer spills under her watch, scandals within the Police department, TIFs, 4 to 2 just won't do, meandering Isabella Street, Fire Department built on a notorious bog, cronic sewer capacity issues . . .on and on. . I can't say I blame her. Then you add the housing bubble crisis which really hasn't begun to set-in on the City's budget yet.

    Man-owe-man what a mess.

    ReplyDelete
  65. 2:49 pm doesn't know Ireton, Cohen or Campbell very well, does he?

I don't know Campbell except to have met her and by reputation, but I do know Cohen and, to a lesser degree, Ireton.

The neat thing about these three people is that they ARE in sync withOUT being clones of each other. Even as much as Cohen and Campbell vote the same, I can tell they are different in many ways.

Cohen has ALWAYS attracted a wide range of people (I'm one of them) because she accepts different points of view. Ireton, too. I know people who are opposite sides of the poles (and polls) who unite in a chorus of "I love Debbie" when you talk to them.

Louise lied, period. That puts her in a whole different category. Not "lied" as in didn't keep campaign promises. "Lied" as in a TOTAL 180 IMMEDIATELY so you knew it was ALL a lie. She USED people.

I haven't seen anything from Ireton, Cohen or Campbell that indicates they wouldn't work well together -- AND they'd do it withOUT being rubber stamps! Imagine that!

I'm really sorry 4:03 pm is moving out of Salisbury. We sure need good people to stick around and help restore the Salisbury we all knew and loved, but with an up-to-date face.

Oh, and I don't regard Ireton as Salisbury's Messiah. I hate that tacky put-words-in-my-mouth tactic. I believe he's a great guy with a good head on his shoulders and a heart dedicated to Salisbury. It's going to take ALL of us to dig out of the mess that Tilghman and her little dogs Mikey, Lynny, Dayo, Shamie, Louweasel and Bubba have left for us to scoop up!

Once Barrie is gone Weezie will resign right after Comegys loses the election. She knows she will serve no further purpose in the city. She also will not be able to tolerate the thought of not being council president. She and Eleanor can spend more time sipping Manhattans at lunch. She also will not be in the minority vote. Look for her to quit shortly after the election, citing health or personal reasons or whatever. We all know the truth.

Barrie won't run, it's guaranteed. Her court date with Joe is after the filing deadline. She knows much is going to be exposed during this session in court.

As for the Red Cross luncheon. That table was held for her husbands company, Hanna, Kremer and Tilghman, none of them showed up either. THAT should tell you something right there. Even her husband doesn't want to be seen with her.

I didn't realize that the position of mayor carried so much power.I always beleived it was a bogus position for the boored citizenswho needed something to do with their time. The only power it carries is the ability to invoke others that have so much time to kill that they would attack her personally.I beleive that berrie thought she was doing right for the city .If in fact she has erred in some choices , she is a human being ans it is just not as right bashing her as it was for her to make bad choices. So just keep ringing bells and bashing those who actually do try to be involved. It takes a truly selfless person to dare to take on this position. And if you don't live and contribute to the City of Salisbury then you have no leg to stand on by hurting those who do.And if the drivers here bother you so much then just use the by-pass and keep right on speeding away from here.

By the content of your comments about this woman , it truly is a non-thankful job isn't it? Put up or shut up little fishies.

  78. I understand why you won't list this comment or the previous one sent in. I guess if I was being sued for something I said about someone I would be bias too.

But I do think she should be thanked for her service. At least she tried.(kindda like Joes comments about bell ringing isn't it?) THANK YOU MAYOR TILGHMAN I hope you find peace in all you do.And it would show Joe and all his blog dogs ( who like to call themselves "the dirty dozen" lol)that they are wrong about your character if you simply dropped your suit against Joe and allowed his conscious to punish him for his blah blah blah blogging.

  79. Joe:

Thanks to you we will have those visuals of Barrie to remember her by -- that "headlights" pic is great, but the best is the one of her looking hung over (again) in the red coat trying to stop you from doing something. How about a "best of" post sometime soon as a Christmas present for the folks here in Salisbury, who say, loudly and in unison:

    FREE AT LAST!

  80. This is too good to be true.

Yeah, if I were the Camdenites, I'd hang garlic cloves around my doors and windows.

That end of the 'hood is one of the most crime ridden in town. With friends like Barrie, who needs enemies?

  81. I want to be her meter reader and home inspector.
Please, what do I have to do to get that job?

  82. In regards to the new mayor cleaning house at the FD.. They can only get rid of See and Hoppes.. Gordy, remember is NOT a city employee. He is the Highest ranking VOLUNTEER officer... Now a new Chief can demote him. However, he can not remove them. Only the station 16 corparation can remove him from membership.

  83. It has taken Barrie an inordinate amount of time to realize that she has lost her base of support and her efforts at administering the City have failed. She fancies herself as an astute politician; but if she were, she would not have made the many basic mistakes. She is finished as Mayor and did this to herself. She has no one else (not even Joe) to blame.
She is actually a sad study--she had political potential to some minor degree, but squandered it and the "resolve" that she speaks about in the Daily Times article is, by others, viewed as vindictiveness. The City will breathe a collective sigh of relief (and gladness) when she vacates the GOB.

Git outta here, Barrie. I hope in her retirement, she will reflect on how negatively she has impacted Salisbury and its citizens.

  84. The last three comments were the same person, so you know.

  85. 8:10 PM, I do know all three--Ireton, Cohen, and Campbell--and have spoken a good number of times with each. And I was not writing my own view that Ireton is the "Salisbury Messiah," but rather that many of the electorate seem to see him that way. I do know that funny things can happen after we put people into office, very unexpected things. (2:49 PM)

  86. !!!!!I AM DISAPPOINTED!!!!

I thought you meant she quit NOW.

Well, hopefully this is just the beginning of all the inept hangers-on go with her. This would include Pammie, Bubba, Louweasal and Pauly for starters. I wouldn't miss Lore, either.

Barrie may have started out that way (and I'm not so sure about that), but she did what many in office do -- let her ego get in the way of everything. The humility act -- and I do mean ACT -- is something I'm not buying and I'm not alone in that opinion.

You slam people here, but I can guarantee that there are people here who have contributed a LOT to the betterment of Salisbury.

Not everyone is cut out to run, not necessarily because of courage, but because of income, family, health, etc.

The idea that people should be silent if they can't or won't run for office is utterly against democracy.

In fact, it sounds just like something Barrie (or Gary or Louise or Shanie) would say.

Must have been a Vollie Gordo Supporter. Isn't that something like and Athletic Supporter, a jock strap.

Don't worry buddy, when Gordo is gone you will be history as well. We all know who the trouble makers are. There is already a list of the kiss a$$es that will be gone when the new Sheriff gets in town.
