KATIE C.: WATCH OUT FOR BARRIE T.
Have you noticed it? As her days as Salisbury’s mayor dwindle down to a precious (for her, not us) few, Barrie Tilghman has evolved from full time mayor-CEO of the City to fully-fledged maven of local broadcast media.
On PAC-14 the “30 Minutes with The Mayor” program runs at least 5 or 6 times each week. And “Monday Morning with the Mayor” seems to run every other day as well on a local radio station. Rumor has it that her favorite order in the mayor’s office has become “let Lore do that I’m doing another show today”.
Most episodes of her shows, like her public statements, are “infomercial” in style, filled with personal adulation. It’s easy to recognize her voice if you tune in during an episode; that vocal intonation is unmistakable – a squeaky hinge combined backed by a dental drill. And there’s her excessive self-reference: “I”, “me” ad nauseam.
Could she have a future in broadcast journalism or as a talk show tyro. And wouldn’t it be nice for her to constantly remind the world that she was a really great mayor. The world needs a lot more humor these days.
But here’s a very scary thought – if Comegys is elected mayor next year (that’s scary enough), will PAC-14 have a “Barrie & Bubba” show several times every week?
Are you reading this Ms. Couric? And, are you worried?
no wonder pac-14 is going down the tubes whose going to listen to that bs once let alone 6 times a week
ReplyDeleteAttsa matta you? Joe this is possibly the dumbest post ever. I expect better.
ReplyDeletePAC14 has become Barrie's 'instrumentality of government'. Remember in the dictatorships, they refer to it as "State run media"--that's what we have from Barrie.
ReplyDeleteBarrie has neither the face for t.v. nor the voice for radio--get outta here, Barrie.
Barrie doesn't even have the face for radio let alone voice

She is not a good person for anything public. She has breath that smells like a horses arse and terrible femine hygiene.
Is Matt Tilghman 12:32PM ???
ReplyDeleteThe Mare has injured her arm from patting herself on the back lately. She's all over the airwaves bosting about what she thinks she has done. I see firsthand what has happened. Our City is a mere shadow of its former self. Crime, homeless, shady goverment deals, thousands of rentals and sky high taxes. She and Gordy are supporting pushing for Bubba as Mayor. That will be the nail in the coffin for Salisbury. What a Joke.
ReplyDeleteGet the word out early Joe, because Bubba's backers will be promoting this idiot. All the landlords and business owners will be greased and brainwashed for sure. KEEP BUBBA OUT AS MAYOR. yOU WILL BE SORRY.
The bottom line?
ReplyDeleteMayor wins. Joe loses.
I am so glad I don't live in Salisbury. The place is going downhill fast.
ReplyDeleteI remember when Barrie Tilghman first ran for Mayor. In her caampaign ad, she said, "I'm running for mayor because..." with the emphasis on the word "I'm." I remember thinking then that the comment made the statement that her campaign was all about HER, not Salisbury. It seems I've been proven right. In fact, I spoke with an older woman just yesterday who moved to Salisbury for her retirement. She told me she wished she hadn't and is very disappointed with Salisbury and its decline.
And I am grateful that if I need help, I would deal with the County Sheriff and not Chief Webster. His anger at Joe for telling us all about the ATM robbery at Bank of America makes no sense to me. Isn't he supposed to protect the people of Salisbury? How can he do that when he doesn't even think it's necessary to warn the public about killers and robbers? It does seem that he is using the public as his decoys, and that makes him a very dangerous man, not one who should be entrusted with public safety.
Cyber-terrorist?!!! Are you kidding me? Mr. Webster, why don't you go after the criminals and not the man warning us to be careful about things you don't want us to know. I may not live in Salisbury, but I work there every day, and every day, with you at the helm, I feel less and less safe.
Shit a lot of business owners I know haven't forgotten bubba/Louise/shanie's 14% tax hike and water hike that affects restaurants, Car washes, Laundry Mats big time. bubba and barry have made a lot of enemies over the last two years. firemen, Policemen, bubba may wind up down stairs greeting people coming in and let's put scotty in his seat.
ReplyDeleteJoe,
ReplyDeleteYou should run that picture every day until the election! It's priceless!
Grannydragon,
ReplyDeletewe are glad you don't live in Salisbury too! Where do you live where there are no drugs, no crime, no prostitution, a murder unsolved, gangs, and police who spend most of their time at Dunkin Donuts, etc.?
There is crime everywhere!
