Man Builds Noah's Ark (exact scale given in Bible)

Man Builds Noah's Ark (exact scale given in Bible)
Working Replica of Noah's Ark Opened In SCHAGEN, Netherlands .
The massive central door in the side of Noah's Ark was opened the first crowd of curious townsfolk to behold the wonder. Of course, it's only a replica of the biblical Ark , built by Dutch Creationist Johan Huibers as a testament to his faith in the literal truth of the Bible.

The ark is 150 cubits long, 30 cubits high and 20 cubits wide. That's two-thirds the length of a football field and as high as a three-story house. Life-size models of giraffes, elephants, lions, crocodiles, zebras, bison and other animals greet visitors as they arrive in the main hold. A contractor by trad e, Huibers built the ark of cedar and pine. Biblical Scholars debate exactly what the wood used by Noah would have been.

Huibers did the work mostly with his own hands, using modern tools and with occasional help from his son Roy. Construction began in May 2005. On the uncovered top deck - not quite ready in time for the opening - will come a petting zoo, with baby lambs and chickens, and goats, and one camel.

Visitors on the first day were stunned. 'It's past comprehension', said Mary Louise Starosciak, who happened to be bicycling by with her husband while on vacation when they saw the ark looming over the local landscape.

'I knew the story of Noah, but I had no idea the boat would have been so big.' There is enough space near the keel for a 50-seat film theater where kids can watch a video that tells the story of Noah and his ark. Huibers, a Christian man, said he hopes the project will renew interest in Christianity in the Netherlands , where church going has fallen dramatically in the past 50 years.

Now that I am old and gray...give me the time to tell this new generation (and their children too) about all your mighty miracles. Psalm 71:18

  1. How is he supposed to fit millions of species of animals on that thing.
    Sorry, make that double.

  6. I can think of several ways to spend my time and money in Amsterdam (in addition to things you may be thinking, the Heineken brewery is also there).......absolutely none of them involve building a bloody ark!!!!!

  8. The Ark... ahh what a good story, something you would hear made up around a campfire. Too bad they put a campfire story in the Bible, because it never happened.

And in the story, did "god" say to put a fire extinguisher in it?

  9. about 10yr ago they found reminents thats believed to be the Ark, high atop a mountain covered by glacier ice. Last I heard they were still x-raying the ice for the rest of it. Could prolly find it{artical} on the internet

  10. I think its great!!

people shouldn't put other people down for their creative art work. Just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean the person is crazy or is stupid for doing it. Next time you do something that you think is so grand and proud of think about how you would feel if you were made fun of and were talked about how stupid you are. Just because most of you are anonymous doesn't give you the right to be so mean and ignorant.

  11. 4:24. I Googled it first to make sure it wasn't computer animated....I just like to look at things from an intelligent, pragmatic viewpoint-what happens if the "true apocolypse" involves a drought-not a flood (I am pretty sure President Gore is the only one that can intelligently address this issue)....that boat would be the equivalent of snowshoes in the Sahara. BTW..I was encompassed with enough love (or something) to become engaged in Holland. Like none of those guys and gals are this neurotic to build this thing. A clean, modern bed and breakfast is what the smart Europeans focus on (gee...I wonder if Salisbury's downtown might catch a hint).

  12. Why would it renew interest in Christianity? Wouldn't it renew interest in Judaism?

  14. Anon, this article answers your question as to the "millions of species". http://answersingenesis.org/articles/am/v2/n2/two-of-every-kind

  15. I loved the article in response to Anon's question regarding "millions of species"...it is important to note that the author of the article Cleary expresses that "Scoffing isn’t going to stop, no matter how eloquently we explain the Ark account, because ultimately, the Bible must be accepted by faith, not by sight. Those without faith just can’t understand."
I think this is the most undisputable evidence that people who don't believe in the Father don't have the vision or ability to see that which believers of the faith do. Therefore any and all remarks as they always have should remain to be dismissed as non-sense and lack of experience. Actually, it is one of the best remarks I have ever seen. Truly, a relationship with God is personal, therefore to all those NON- bible thumpers out there- your choice is to stay out...so why don't you practice what you preach...stay out? No one is begging you or holding a gun to your head for you to see the importance of what one talented man has done with his time, a simple story that the media is sharing. A man that wants to share his vision with a town, a state or the world. I agree with the other woman about creating art- God blessed him with a talent do us a favor and go find yours! If you are so wonderful and powerful...please tell me something I don't already know- great to hear there is beer out there...it's in my fridge too!

From- a person who lacks patience with people who bash Christ!

  16. What great talent! I'm very impressed with someone using the talent God gave them to do something like this! What saddens me is the "anonymous" calling Noah's ark a "campfire story" . I know the publicly correct way these days is to just believe whatever works for you and you can be your own god or whatever, but the day will come when "Every knee will bow, every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord." And anyone reading this who isn't a Christian will remember reading it when you are standing before God and he says "Depart from me, I never knew you." Hell is going to be a horrible horrible place to spend all of eternity. I think too many people are worried about stepping on someone else's toes when it comes to religion, but the truth is, there is only ONE way to get to heaven and that is having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
-For all who are about to bash every word I've said, know that I'm praying for you already! :) God bless!

  17. Noah wouldn't have had to take millions of different species - the Bible uses 'kind' not species.

With breeding and possibly divine intervention (if you want to say that) you could get all kinds of dog species from some sort of dog species taken on the ark.

Same with elephants, african, indian, wooly mammoths, mastadons...etc..

Same can be said with whales and all the different whale species, dolphins, sharks, insects, you name it - it is possible. These people were not simple knuckle dragging cave-people - these were intelligent people back then.

  18. ..oh yeah - and who or what says Noah took these animals into the ark as adult animals?

Couldn't he have taken the animals in the ark when they were young/small before they grew to their large adult sizes?

I believe this is a possible scenario.

  19. Genesis 7:2 you shall take with you SEVEN each of every CLEAN animals, a male and his female, TWO each of animals that are UNCLEAN, a male and his female.
3 also SEVEN each of birds of the air, male and female, to keep the species alive on the face of all the earth.
8 Of clean animals, of animals that are unclean, of birds, and of everything that creeps on the earth,
9 TWO BY TWO they went into the ark to Noah, male and female, as GOD had commanded Noah.
Note: they could only fit two by two in the door way.
Also note that we do not actually know how many different species there were at that time and as a previous comment stated, they all could have been very young and small.
