Lindo Lugo From The Humane Society Gives Us An Update

"Hi Joe,

It was nice seeing you at the meeting the other night. Wanted to let you know that we have 10 dogs and 3 cats going to new homes tomorrow! People are still seeing our animals on your site and coming in and when finding those pets are adopted, they are choosing others...I love it when things work together. I couldn't ask for anything better...except that the trend continues! Thank you for being a part of our successes. Have a good weekend.

Linda"

  1. I've been regularly checking the Humane Society website, actively looking to add to our "family", and sadly have seen no updates, since Oct.23. There certainly must be someone there, staff or volunteer, who could take a quick photo of incoming pets (strays, adoptable, lost?) as a way to increase their adoptions.
Please Please Please, Ms. Lugo, use this tool to enhance the chances that an animal could find a home and not a grave.
If you don't have someone readily available to, on a daily basis, update your site, ASK ANY HIGH SCHOOL KID who is already a volunteer.

  2. I couldn't agree more. I just recently emailed them to ask what was up with their site. Every picture but one had adopted stamped over it. Surely there are others not being given a chance because no one is keeping the site current.

  3. Congratualtions to the Humane Society, the pets, and the families who have benefited from the posts on SBYNews. It just show what bridges can be built to accomplish good things when Gary Comegys isn't in the mix.

  5. First i will say thank you o Joe and Linda for helping those pets to find good homes. Linda please try to find someone to keep your site updated with the pets that can be up for adoption. I too have gone to the site to see what was available for adoption and kept seeing the same one there. If the site were updated more often maybe more pets could find homes. Not to take away from what you have been doing but to improve. Again thank you for your work and caring about those innocent animals. THANK YOU.

  9. I don't care if Osama bin Laden and Dick Cheney marry under Prop 8if it helps save the lives of these animals and adds untold love and security to adoptive families who would offer such a wonderful, loving gift.

  11. we have been looking for a cat for several months. the wicomico county humane society 1) doesn't post their adoptable pets on their web site (only 3-4 per species gets listed, and they are all adopted) 2) doesn't utilize petfinder.com, so you can search every other delmarva rescue group, just not them, and 3) is not open m-f, and 4) when you call to ask questions, they act like you're bothering them (if they even answer.)

until they start running their shelter in a responsible, community-friendly way, i see no point in dealing with them. the shelters in georgetown, cambridge, somerset, berlin, and easton, as well as the small resue groups, need your help just as much, and are willing to make an effort.
