I've been informed recently that Station II in Salisbury allegedly has some serious structural issues, bad enough Chief See & Deputy Chief Gordy are considering closing the building and relocating everyone to the new Fire Station 16.
Two years ago Mr. Trader strongly suggested to the Council that they should have ALL of the City's Buildings inspected yearly and the Mayor has refused to act upon this request. Isn't it convenient that all of a sudden they're done with Station 16 and I have been telling everyone for the longest time, they want to build a brand new Fire Station to replace Station II. I also told everyone that they also want to include a brand new Fire Station further north on Rt. 13 closer to the Mall.
When Firefighters asked, why don't we just build ONE new Fire Station further north on Rt. 13 and replace Station II, See & Gordy told them they didn't want to have their Volunteers subjected into traveling further to get to their Station. DUH! HELLO! What did you just do to ALL of the Volunteers with the new Fire Station 16, you Idiots?
Gordy came up with a new program called "The Hours People," some of which has come up in my previous Post in comments. Hours People are See & Gordy's way of cooking the books, so to speak. In other words, it's a way to get anyone to join the Fire Department without much experience or training. These people only have to put in 24 to 36 hours a month and have taken one training class. As for the Professional Firefighters AND many of the current Volunteers, it's a slap in the face. These people are pretty much useless and once they have put in their hours each month, you won't find them around, period.
It causes more problems than it's worth because they have no experience and when you're in the heat of the moment, these Professionals want to know they have someone covering their backs when lives are in danger. When I suggested earlier that See & Gordy are coking the books I meant that they are desperate for names to put on the roster.
I was 100% accurate in the past when I said NO ONE is joining at the new Fire Station and several have already left. Having "Hours People" in there keeps the Public, (YOU) from knowing I was right, yet you're still in questionable hands.
Let me explain why. Just recently See & Gordy rought in two newer Firefighters. One of them was thrown out of Parsonsburg for allegedly stealing a $400.00 Pager. Another one was caught ON VIDEO allegedly stealing a personally item from another Firefighter and was even seen on camera using a magic marker to write his own name on the inside of the item to claim it was his. ALL of this was caught on video. This is terms for an immediate dismissal. Remember Folks, these are the people going into your home when you're not there. If they'll steal from their own, they'll steal from you too.
OK, so if you think what you're reading so far is bad, there's lots more to go. Let's talk about response time. The response time for Station 16 to get to a call has actually gone through the roof. Although Gary Comegys likes to claim they're only 1,50 feet away from the old Station 16, response time is turning into a joke. Keep in mind, a Volunteer living in the Camden area, (as an example) now has to travel twice as far just to get to the Station. The they have to travel back into the City and their numbers have simply gone through the roof, but you're not going to hear about that.
Another major issue Station 16 is having is with the State of Maryland. NO, you won't read about this in the Daily Times. When the City gave the OK for the Fire Department to buy 4 new Fire Trucks, they did so under what is called a "508 Program." This is where the State matches a certain amount of funds to help purchase the equipment already on order.
OK, here's the deal. Because See & Gordy refused to file the requested reports, the State has now refused their money and the City could be on the hook for millions of dollars. Gordy has even had the ba{{s to request yet ANOTHER 4,000 gallon Tanker Truck on top of what they've already ordered. The fact that Gordy and See told everyone the equipment they wanted to surplus is unsafe, it was a lie. Other Fire Departments around the area are drooling and calling daily to find out how much they want for the 4 pieces they're replacing.
You see Folks, it's all about little boys wanting big toys, right Mr. Comegys. They don't care if they lie to you, they want what they want and they're going to do or say just about anything to get it.
As for the Station II situation. I suggest the relocate into the Old Fire Station 16 until they resolve their issues and the Taxpayers can afford to evaluate and finance a new location, should it even be necessary. No disrespect towards the fine men and women working there but this Country is BROKE! Comegys is making promises to these men and women he can't keep. Remember when he ran for City Council assuring pay increases to the Firefighters and then as son as he was elected they gave you NOTHING! Oh, perhaps that's wrong. A $10,000,000.00 Fire Station, which is really $14,000,000.00 but if the Daily Times keeps printing $10,000,000.00 and KNOWS they're lying and misleading people, it must be true, right?
You have also received new equipment as well as millions of dollars in new Fire Trucks. We have an election coming up Folks and hopefully you've read this entire Post. The games need to end and the liars need to GO!
Blast Away!
If my house catches on fire, do me a favor and let it go. Its worth more to me as a pile of ashes than as an equity builder.
ReplyDeleteThere are more issues in Parsonsburg that have to do with that member being thrown out. He did not steal the pager; he just didnt follow the chain of command in reporting it. If there are any questions with that feel free to ask there special operations lt. and cheif who are recorded on a voicemail talking about how to get this person out of parsonsburg. feel free to ask around about him and this situation and you will realize it was parsonsburgs jealousy of this member being in salisbury and vendetta against him by the cheif and spec ops lt.
ReplyDeleteAlthough it may be the correct action, do See and Gordo have the authority to make that shift? -- it should be done by the Mayor & Council IMHO.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that the empire has become chaotic in the waning days of Barrie Tilghman's reign.
Thank goodness -- "help is on the way"
ReplyDeleteELECT JIM IRETON MAYOR!
Watch, the chiefy will just talk the mare and silly council into more DEBT. Lets see, new fire house 10 million, new trucks 2 million, the town of Salisbury BROKE, priceless.
ReplyDeleteIs Station #2 the one on Beaglin Park?OMG-it isnt even that old!
ReplyDeleteAs far as state money goes, why cant they give some of that to the smaller all-volunteer fire companies in rural areas who desperately need it?
Jim has alot of horse-pucky to clean up when he takes office.
name me one department that has call Salisbury asking how much they are selling the 4 trucks for? You cant and you wont even post this! You printted it now back it up!
ReplyDeleteGosh, at this rate -- Isabella street nightmare and now the old Brown Street station -- the city won't have enough money left to do that flood control work Louweasel is demanding at Canal Woods.
ReplyDeletePity.
Who is this member accused of stealing the pager?
ReplyDeleteRyan Whittington and Steve White of Parsonsburg are a team, you buck the team you out of the department.
why in the hell do we need more fire equipment? we need police officers and substations need to be filled.
ReplyDeleteDeputy Chief Gordy believes the department needs this tanker because of ISO ratings. The insurance companies give the City a better rating if we have a tanker for fires such as Setters Run July 2007. The current tanker is only 2000 gallons. Whats wrong with being prepared. Chief Gordy made sense when he briefed us on this. For the record. The truck is not even in the design phase yet.
ReplyDeleteThe volunteer with the pager is old news. The Vollies took him in and there ain't much that anybody can do but accept it. We've all heard it from guys in Parsonsburg, but what can you do. Watch your back is it. The President and Board members pick the vollies and we just accept it. He ain't the first dishonest person in the SFD and he won't be the last. Its the Gordy and See FD and they will take anybody.
ReplyDeleteI mean real police officers not this jokes we have now. Chief Webster FTL.
ReplyDeleteDoodles, I'll tell you what's wrong with it. First of all, WE CAN'T AFFORD IT! Secondly, haven't you people received enough from the taxpayers! Call in other Fire Departments for tankers.
ReplyDeleteI am from Mt. Vernon VFD. We inquired and would love to have Salisbury's tanker. Its in good shape and like new for us.
ReplyDeleteThe Powellville VFD would like to buy tanker 1 from Salisbury. Its cherry and we can use it. If and when it comes up for sale, we're on it man. Your loss and our gain.
ReplyDeleteJoe,
ReplyDeleteI dont believe there is a problem between the Paid firefighters and these Hourly firefighters. The issues are within the Volunteer ranks. The other two stations utilize a home response and 16 is fast becoming hourly personnel. Many Volunteers feel the members need to be available all the time to respond as they have for years. This doesn't happen with the hourly members. The more you experience the better you are. The home rsponse members are your better firefighters. They make more alarms and get the equipment out. The hourly members are not very experienced and it will take a long time to get that way. Thats if they stay for any length of time.
The real issue is the quality of the newer members. As you have stated , there are some of concern that have arisen with alledged theft. We depend on our officers to deal with these issues if they take place. There is a system in place and sometimes isnt perfect. Over all there are some very good people in the department.
Station 2 has been in bad shape for years. Its got some cracks and some leaks but its home to us. The City aint got any money and we're here to stay. Station 16 drained the City dry but they did leave enough for our two new trucks. That is if they didnt screw up the 508 money.
ReplyDeleteThe volunteers at 16 are a different bunch all together. Theyve had problems for a long time. We get out quick and have some good firemen here. Our board of trustees weeds out the trash that 16 would take in. Thats why we dont have the problems they do. Keep your hours people. We dont need them. When your a volunteer your either all the way in or your out.
The hours program is a joke. They take anybody off the street, just to show numbers. They say they got 120 volunteers and there isnt a handful that you ever see. Salisbury hands out uniforms, gear, pagers and all kinds of crap. If they make it threw class you never see them. Once they leave its rare that they get there equipment back. Nobody knows where they went and how to get the stuff back. What a waist of time and money
ReplyDeleteHey Joe. What about the guy you exposed a while back from 16. He went to jail for sex with a minor. Was he an hours person ? How did he get in ?
ReplyDeleteyeah add kevin howard to the parsonsburg team. past pothead and roadie equals spec ops lt. with just two to three years in the fire service at all. Man i will rest peacefully when he has command.NOT!! He will just be the cause of another house burnt down or someone left behind. he's scared of fire and of fireman.p burg is goin downhill quick!
ReplyDeleteHey 2:39.....The members name that stole the pager is Greg Fries.
ReplyDeleteAnd just so that you know, the Special Ops. Lt. had nothing to do with the pager issue. There were prior issues, but they had been resolved prior to Mr. Fries termination from the department.
3 post with in 10 minutes and it started with one from Joe and the other two were bullshit names. Kinda seems like all the same person to me.
ReplyDeleteJoe, you usually say that the FD sends too much apparatus to calls. Now you are saying to call in more departments. You don't know what you want. Just say anything to get your hits up, right?
ReplyDeleteThe member from the Parsonsbug dept. is a good kid, they had it out for him there, period. He is always up to 16 riding, more than most putting his time in. He his in school to become an als provider. Don't tear him down over hear say.
ReplyDeleteThey needed to move out of the old 16. Plans to build the new 16 came before the economic problems we have now. Sure they proably wish they had a crystal ball to see what the future held. However to best serve the city something had to be done. There were many issues with the old 16. As for the new trucks, some is over kill, but the two trucks needed to be replaced. I don't live in the city, but if i did i would want to know i was protected by the best that was offered. Please don't always be negative on the public servants, there service should be priceless.
Why are they selling a tanker, and then buying a tanker? What's wrong with the one they have?
ReplyDeleteA county owned fire department will resolve a lot of issues with the departments in Wicomico County. There will be an administration in charge of the service. They would most certainly end the duplication of service, they would stop “dumping the house” on minor calls, and they would make sure all providers in the county are certified and up to date with education and certifications. A county ran fire department have worked in metropolis areas such as the Baltimore and D.C. Metro.
ReplyDeleteWith a county operated fire department you could expect a chief of the department to oversee the entire department; including, finances, prevention, management, logistics, emergency operations, legal services, professional standards, internal affairs, employees, executive decisions, public information, and support services. The chief would then appoint other officials and delegate them with specific tasks.
All of the departments in Wicomico County have let us down in one way or another. I mean look at what’s going on now;
- Salisbury Fire Department’s $10,000,000 station that is out of touch with communities needs.
- Salisbury Fire Department’s request to purchase 4 additional units that don’t need replacing.
- Salisbury Fire Department’s investigation to close and relocate Station 2.
- Salisbury Fire Department’s over spending.
- Fire Fighter’s stealing.
- Pittsville Fire Department allowing uncertified medical attendants.
- Every department is guilty of duplicating services, does each station need 2 or 3 engines, a tanker, a rescue truck, a brush truck, a EMS chase car, a command unit, 1 or 2 utilities, a dive unit, 1 or 2 boats, a haz-mat trailer and/or unit, chaplain car?
- Willards, Parsonsburg, and Pittsville all building new fire departments? Why are 3 stations on the east side building new stations?
- Each county department can purchase and replace or sell any unit they like without any sort of oversight.
- Each county department has no oversight of their finances.
- I hear on the scanner over and over again of units responding to fires and accidents with only 1 or 2 personnel on board, why are the units constantly understaffed?
- Why does each department “dump the house” on all their calls, it wastes fuel and puts wear and tear on the apparatus? For a minor accident in Wicomico County you’ll see at least 1 engine, at least 2 ambulances, at least 1 command unit, at least 1 rescue truck, at least 1 or 2 truck control units, at least 1 or 2 utility vehicles, and multiple personal vehicles.
- Why is there no oversight for their finances?
- Why are they allowed to do as they please?
- As commented numerous times on Salisbury News, why are departments allowed to spend their money any way they see fit? On hotel rooms, seafood dinners, beer, alcohol, and any other way they see fit.
I think it’s time that the citizens of this county realize that their tax money is not being used properly. It’s time they speak up and tell their county legislators they want accountability for their fire service. It’s time for the county to step up. Mr. Pollitt, I’m calling on you.

4:47 PM
I think what Joe was referring to was "dumping the house" and duplication of service. There is no need for every department to have a tanker or rescue truck when the neighboring departments do. Just call them, it's called mutual aide.
This county needs box alarms, so lets say a house fire in Pittsville, 1 engine from Parsonsburg, Pittsville, and Willards, 1 truck from Pittsville, 1 special service/rescue from Willards, 1 ambulance from Powellville. It makes sense.
I do believe Station 2 belongs to the Vollies and NOT SFD.
ReplyDeleteJoe,
ReplyDeleteFrist thing we had a memo from chief higgins many moons ago that came from mayor Martin about not useing the bridge on Isabella St because the bridge could not hold the wt. of the fire trucks so it was to be used only if needed!Looks like troll forgot that duh!Second thing is salisbury already had two tankers both 2000 gallons each for a total of 4000, See and former breezzzzz head said all we need to get rid of them we dont need them RIGHT !!!!!!! There is another motive here people!!!! troll and gordo want to take over the west side of salisbury were Hebron has service, so they can get that almbluace income, thats why they want the tanker!!!! and true reason fire house was built where it is now! next stsation 2 the old section of the bldg is not the best but it has been looked at more then once by out side companys who claim its ok !! now the city says its not all thats right they want all vollies up town because they have nobody because they moved fire house to far away !!!second is they want a station up north so bad they can taste it with paid ppl so, why when station 2s response time up north is less then 4 min in most cases.Next the fire station at two does not belong to the city ppl the deed was burned and when that happened it is recored that if fire house ever stops being used for that, the land is to be returned to the aires of the Dishroom faimly SECOND IS THE FIREFIGHTERS@ station 2 do not have to move the corparation does not belong to the city look it up if you need help tell me and i will be glad to help .Now i hope that the people of salisbury and other fire companys, now see why we were fighting so hard to break the ties with this mad city admin. that is totaly clue less!!!! all the new section of station two is great shape. Joe ask mare brainless whats suppose to be on here desk new plans for station 2 bldg wow !!!!how nice.PEOPLE please wake up and see whats going on here !!!!!!
Lets bring back those good people who were fighting for station 2 to be its own dept away from city !!! THE CITY has driven more good vollies away over the last 4 years because they new these people would stand up to them and had the balls and cared enough about fire services history to do so not to mention many of these people had more the 10 years in the dept as super active ppl. Now we have kiss ass line officers that troll and gordo have appointed to do what they want not whats good for the dept or its members or better yet area that they cover.
ReplyDeleteSalisbury is always trying to "invade" on other fire departments, they tried so hard to take Parsonsburg's. The wanted Wor-Wic and other streets. They want that tax money.
ReplyDeleteThey have county owned Fire Departments across the bay so we need one here. Are you kidding? Must be someone looking for a job.
ReplyDeleteSound like another attack on Station 2.It is really funny at one time Gordy was an advocate of the volunteers leaving Salisbury. David has never liked the volunteers. When he was training officer he refused to train in the evening of the volunteer's training night.Yes the deed clearly states the old part belongs to the volunteers at station 2. Mayor Martin helped the volunteers get 200,000 to build the addition. You see when these so called leaders got Comegy's and the other political jokes to pass an ordinance to control all the volunteer assets and money. Now they can t buy anything without HITLERS blessing. You all are getting what you damn well deserve. Leave the volunteer companies alone in the county. This county could not afford a paid county department. Also that is where Salisbury got Higgins replacement...Baltimore County..
ReplyDeleteWicomico County Fire Departments CANNOT manage themselves. The are not providing a good service. Wicomico County needs to run the fire department!
ReplyDeleteSalisbury and Pittsville have RUINED the reputation of Wicomico County.
Bubba and his buddies ran the good guys, Williams and Brinsons out. They were good honest people. Bubba and honest shouldn't be used in the same sentence.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the numerous blogs on this post concerning the Salisbury Fire Department I want to just say "can't we just get along?"
ReplyDeleteBut that is never going to happen as long as we have Barrie Tilghman as the Mayor and Gordy and See running the fire department. One person that many forget about is the one fat guy named Hoppes. He is flying under the wire hoping to take over the reigns of the fire department after Gordy and See run out of rope. The only way you will see the fire department change is if we are able to get rid of Tilgman, Comegys, Gordy, See and Hoppes.
I guess that it is that time of year again that Vance Webster begins his smear campaign in his quest to become chief. If he can't keep his home life straight, how in the hell can he run a fire department?
ReplyDeleteThis is becoming a yearly event with him; trying to smear people and then asking them for their support.
Anyone who supports this guy is off their f------ rocker.
Keep up the good work Vance!!!
I have the deed in front of me. The volunteers experienced financial hardships in 1936 and turned the property over to the City. This has been hashed out before by lawyers who get paid far more than I. Common sense and the ability to read a document is free to me.
ReplyDeleteVance Webster... assumptions are the mother all f*ck ups! LOL.
ReplyDeleteNot many people know that the Volunteer corporation at Station 2 own much of the property across from the station. Hidden funds have systematicly been used to buy houses and lots for some time now. If they want to build a new station in that area it will cost the city dearly.
ReplyDeleteThe land where the station now sits is too small for another station of Gordo's wishes. The vollies have the city over a barral. They all live nearby and their not going to let what happened at 16 to happen. Their too strong for that. I wouldn't look for station 2 to close anytime soon. I would look for another revolt based on what you read here. Its clear that the firefighters of this city are not happy with the way they are being treated.
6:19 you made a pretty outrageous comment there. I do believe that some of the departments manage themselves pretty well. Keep the problems of Salisbury there, and keep the rest of the County out of it.
ReplyDeleteI think Pittsville and Salisbury should join forces. Pittsville's idiot members and Salisbury's retarded ones should get along really well.
ReplyDeletePittsbury or Salisville either way, they are idiots!
"Dumping the house" is solved with a box system. Worcester went to it several years ago and it works well. The number of types of units are dispatched per type of call. We still have some overkill on commercial fire calls, but at least you know what is coming to you. Command can always turn them back, which is done often. Not a perfect system, but it is much better than dumping the house.
ReplyDelete6:46
ReplyDeletePlease put up the "land Record" location of that deed -- so I can get a copy at the courthouse.
Thank you.
The upcoming ISO inspection in 2010 requires Salisbury to have a 4000 gallon tanker in the fleet. Station 16 volunteers have plans to purchase the tanker out of their county fund that happens to be county taxpayer funding. The city of Salisbury won’t have a dime in the project but might benefit from it one day.
ReplyDeleteI hope that Hitch and J. Elliott are watching what happens to these thieves. They should take the city to court for a double standard. So much for your fairness speech Hoppes. Just keep on taking in the trash.

You have the deed in front of you? You lying sack of sh!t.
I read about the crap that goes on with this fire department and I shake my head. It has to be real. You just cant make this kind of stuff up. Anything is possible in this City. Jim Ireton we need you buddy.
ReplyDeleteAn hours volunteer may be fine for a candystriper at the hospital. Its ain't worth a damn at the fire department. I want somebody to be available all the time if I have an emergency. I want them to be good to.
ReplyDeleteWe need to find out more info on this as citizens who need to know.
ReplyDeleteThe problems within the Salisbury Fire Department remind me of a Cancer.
ReplyDeleteCancerous cells grow and divide without control or order, often making excess tissue that becomes a tumor. Cancer cells may grow into nearby healthy tissue. Left untreated, cancer eventually will spread.
There are many different ways to treat cancer. Often doctors use two or more types of treatment together. Now the type of treatment in this form of cancer is to Elect Jim Ireton as Mayor and Re-elect Debbie Campbell to the City Council.
During the process of excising this malignant cancer it is imperative to remove all of the tumors or the cancer will continue to grow. Once Gordy and See are removed the remaining fat tumor should be removed as well. If the fat tumor is to large to remove during the initial procedure then Hoppes should be removed at one of the follow up visits.
Most recurrent cancers are detected within the first two years after surgery. Therefore, follow up is most important at this time to assist the new mayor and council in removing cancer cells that might be present in other parts of the body. It won't be hard to figure out who the other cancer cells are ;-)
The only thing you need to know is that Cheif David See of Salisbury, Special Operations Captain Ryan Whittington of Parsonsburg, and Cheif Mark Bratten of Pittsville are all idiots!

Hey thanks for the post Steve. It's good to see that you read Sbynews. To bad you suck as a Paramedic.
BUT Ryan Whittington is a doushe bag.
ReplyDelete9:18 pm, that is some funny shit, but yet so true.

The story is about the City of Salisbury and how horrible they run stuff. So lets do the math, it has nothing to do with Mark, Chief of Pittsville or Ryan of Parsonsburg. Also, put your name with your post you little girls & grow up
ReplyDeleteMs. Miller,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, it is about Salisbury, but it affects the entire county and the bottom line is Wicomico County needs to take control of the fire and EMS in the entire county. Parsonsburg is so small and not even a town so it doen't need a new fire station much less a fire station period. The social club you are referring to is nothing more that a few renegade volunteer farmin.
Steve White has been a certified paramedic in Parsonsburg for several years now and he is borderline incometent. He is afraid to take a call by himself and he lacks confidence. These type of people are dangerous to the citizens they serve. Steve, why don't you just drop your certification level back to an IV Tech?
ReplyDeleteAll of you firmin that post this BS on here bring such a discredit to the fire service. You fall right into Joe's world of childish entertainment. Grow up, and do your job........., if a vollie, and you can't help but throw insults and trash, get out! Hopefully See and Gordo will get thiers. They can't manage a whore house without eating the profits, and thats what they are doing here.
ReplyDeleteHey get this in parsonsburg there so called fire captain leigh tyler has two kids and no time for parsonsburg and still a captain how is that possible but anything is possible if your husband is a chief
