Considering I dropped my subscription to the Daily Times a month or so ago, I thought the article about 10 Reasons to Elect Jim Ireton Salisbury's Mayor (David Letterman Style) was a joke.
However, someone just sent in the link to the actual article HERE and I truly could not believe my eyes. Are you F/N kidding me?
How ANY one of you can still continue to keep your subscription to this piece of crap newspaper is beyond me. Your message should be LOUD AND CLEAR, you're sick and tired of this leadership in Salisbury and their main spokes people, the Daily Times.
How many of you have had enough?

ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe it either. I won't be satisfied until they publish a top 10 list for Bubba and DellaPenna.
ReplyDeleteIt's called commentary, and it's certainly no worse than the commentary seen here. In fact, it's fairly tame.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure a law suit would work great.... just like it did against Joe.
Just got thru stuffin' face at relatives still living here in Salisbury. We decided to catch up on what's "really going on in town," to quote a family member.
ReplyDeleteThis is unbelievable. I'm encouraging family members to write a letter to the editor. I hope your readers do, too. My kid's local high school paper is more professional and mature than the Daily Times.
Me Too, BUT In my line of work I read the comics and can pass a few minutes of downtime... MOSTLY I bring it home and my Doggy does all his buisiness on it! SO I am giving it what it deserves!
ReplyDeleteMy subscription will be cancelled. I am sick of this.
ReplyDeleteThat piece on Ireton was a ridiculous attempt at humor but it failed utterly. The Times management should be reported to Gannett for personal bias evident throughout the tenure of Barrie.
ReplyDeleteSORRY, I THOUGHT IT WAS AMUSING, BUT THEN, I DON'T HAVE AN ATTITUDE ABOUT THE DT.
ReplyDeleteSue? Why? Looks to be an opinion not unlike yours with other people in the community.
ReplyDeleteIreton's got enough sense of humor that he'd never think of suing.
ReplyDeleteBut was it funny? Not really. It was full of cheap shots. Poorly executed.
Once again, the Daily Times has tried to be something it can't possibly be.

I believe they did do a top 10 on Bubba on Monday. I remember something about doughnuts...
That article is hilarious. It proves as one of the commentors stated at the end of the article. Comegys, Barrie and all of their sheeple are running scared. They know Jim Ireton is going to give them a run for their money.
ReplyDeleteWatch the voter registration lists for the residents at Parsons and Wicomico cemetaries. Who needs ACORN when we've got our own band of local nuts?
There is no such thing as bad publicity. Might be good for them to hear about dancing in street downtown. When's the last time you've heard that? Tennis the offical city sport? I can remmber in 1973 we had world class tennis at the civic center, I even ball boy'ed for Jimmy Conners in his rookie year.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to talk with anyone that would vote for da mare, shanie or bubba the dunce.
Jamba Da Hutt is so worried she won't get elected again that she is now agreeing with Debbie and Terry a lot more on council matters.
The people of this town know and have known for a long time that the DT supports the mayor and her bobble heads Comegys, Shields, and Smith. Few bother to read the paper, even fewer belive what they read, it is unfortnate that it is so biased, and so "controled" by the present Mayor.
ReplyDeleteIreton is known to many, and it is generally agreed that he is the best thing that has happened in the political scene around this town, in many years.
Unfortunately his past "stint" was interruped by career necessities, or he would be mayor by now. I will vote for him.
The DT is not worth the words, or the concern. They serve no one in the community but the Mayor and Comegys. (Don't you wish we could find out why?) Truth will out.
I don't see anything wrong with it. It's actually quite funny.
ReplyDeleteFYI...Jim is WAY to busy worrying about the important stuff, to be wanting to sue the DT.
ReplyDeleteYes it was poorly done and yes it really wasn't that funny IMHO.
He had a good laugh and moved on. That's what you do when you have a sense of humor.
Funny? Somewhat. Knowing Jim Ireton for many years I think it safe to say he and his campaign staff will ignore the negative tactics of those with no vision. Stick to the issues. Let them wallow in their misery.
ReplyDeleteI like the top 10 losers list better.

No... it's called a sad attempt at sabotaging the campaign of the best qualified candidate for Mayor.
I support Ireton, and I thought it was very funny.
ReplyDeleteJust like this Blog, is entertaining. It is only bad when someone else thinks of it!!
I don't think Ireton wants to see 200 jobs lost here in Salisbury??
As I'm certain Ireton wouldn't want to see 200 jobs gone from Salisbury, you need to come down to reality as they only have around a hundred on Staf any more.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, this Blog is opinionated, the Daily Times is not.
The Daily Times went too far on this article.
You are right about the Daily Times going too far on this. If I still had my subscription, I would cancel it today but I have already done that months ago. However, I NO LONGER advertise in the DT anymore, even though their rates are really cheap right now. I have a business locally and NEVER advertise with them anymore. The last time I did the ad was so blurred you could not read it. The DT is definately published with the MARE in mind - obviously she must have some stock in it. My vote goes to Mr. Ireton.
