The Salisbury Elks Lodge #817 will be honoring veterans this month. Wicomico County Council has named November “Veteran’s Remembrance Month” (see attached proclamation) and the local BOPE Lodge on Church Hill Avenue will be having some activities to help and honor veterans. On Tuesday November 11, 2008 the Elks Veterans Committee will be taking care packages to veterans in local hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. Later that night at 7 PM the Lodge Officers will be conducting a flag disposal ceremony to consecrate old worn flags. The ceremony is open to the public and those having old flags are urged to drop them by the Lodge before the ceremony. In addition the Lodge is running the Michael Manning Disabled Vietnam Veteran’s Coin Can drive (see http://www.elks.org/Lodges/NewsStory.cfm?StoryID=38929 ). Cans have been placed in store throughout the area and customers are urged to drop your spare change in and help our injured and disable veterans. The Lodge Charity fund will match all donations.

My son's Boy Scout Troop 817 (sponsored by the Elks) will also be in attendance to help with the ceremony. I hope by then the immaturity and name calling by you so-called "adults" will have kicked in.
