Circuit City Filed Bankruptcy Today

While we already knew this was coming, it became formal today. Circuit City does plan on keeping their doors open over the Holidays but let me tell you, I won't be buying a single item from them PERIOD. No returns, no service, NO THANKS! They are doing what they can to create a reorganization plan but we all know what the outcome will be. They're failing, they have failed and they'll do anything they can to get any business they can before they ultimately close their doors for good. Circuit City is NOT a store that demands to be open.

The time is coming Ladies & Gentlemen. Businesses are starting to announce their losses and if they had a National Business Obituary section in the Newspapers it would be loaded with failures due to the economy.

Here comes the Depression.

  1. Joe. why do ALWAYS sound so proud to report this type of "news". When someone is down you certainly act gleeful in being able to dig their hole deeper. You act jolly happy that the depression is upon us. From all your blogging bragging we know it will not harm you but why not show some concern for the millions it will destroy.

  2. Stop being such a pessimist. Yea Circuit City is in trouble--big deal they weren't able to make it even during good times... poor mgmt.

You try to fuel the fire the MSM does in stating the worst or sensationalism

    Get real and Get Going

  3. I'm glad the store is closing. The customer service is horrible, the employees are rotten, the merchandise is overpriced and outdated. Go over to Best Buy you find newer equipment with better prices and sales!

  4. Dear Daily Times Reporter:

    anonymous 2:36

While I know it kills you that Salisbury News is delivering news faster and cheaper than you will ever dream to do any more, it is what it is.

I know, let's bury it, or even better, let's not even tell anyone so they go there and spend millions of dollars and get screwed once their doors close.

You see, it's Idiots like you with the attitude of hiding things because it hurts people. Guess what Idiot, we're going into a DEPRESSION and YOU of all people are feeling it more than most. Do I feel sorry for YOU? Hell No, I don't. You're as Tilghman Tabloid Newspaper that spews whatever Democrats want to hear.

You bury every one's head into the sand and it wasn't until Salisbury News came along, people started realizing I wasn't the bad guy you and Mayor Tilghman tried to make me out to be. OH, HOW QUICKLY WE FORGET, RIGHT?

As for the peoploe losing their jobs, GET REAL! This is a part of life. While it's sad, it's a reality. There, I cries for 1/10th of a second. Do you feel better now.

I know, now what will you put up for articles tomorrow without looking exactly like Salisbury News! ROTFLMAO!

  5. Dear Joseph - from Anonymous 2:36 who is really Anonymous 2:37 - OK got that straight, now -- I am not really a Daily Times Reporter, but actually a female, retired 70 year old federal employee. I am the one who sometime reminds you about your "potty-mouth". Sorry you had to write six paragraphs putting down the wrong person. And I am also sorry to learn about "peoploe"(whatever they are) losing jobs. I will pray they do not lose jobs as fast as humans seem to be. No, I do not feel better that you spent 1/10 second that you "cries" over job loss. Sounds too much like sarcasm. As I've mentioned in previous postings, the world is big enough for a Daily Times and a Salisbury News. I read (and enjoy both) for different reasons. I will not lower myself to call you an idiot (even if I thought you were one) as you did me. Remember to look after your health Joe, or we all will be reading in the DT about your death from rage causing a stroke or heart attack. By the way, about Mayor Tilghman, I could not care less, as I do not live in Salisbury or Wicomico County.

  6. Well, now there are three people that call me Joseph. One, when my Mother is really ticked off at me and that hasn't happened for 35+ years.

Second would be Sheriff Lewis, TOTAL respect.

Now there's you. Considering you claim that you're 70, I'll consider that respect as well, thank you.

The world is most certainly big enough for the Daily Times and Salisbury News.

    Have a great evening.

  7. Dear retired 70 year-old federal
employee. It's hard for us to understand how we worked our asses off to get somewhere , and you guys have never earned your way in in life! Sorry , but I know too
    many retired government people.
Half of them slept through the last 10 years of employment!
    That's the facts my dear.
By the way ,you must have potty eyes,
you read it , don't you?

  8. My advice to those Circuit City peeps that lost their jobs, hit the jobs boards fast while there are still jobs posted -

    www.linkedin.com (professional networking)
    www.indeed.com (aggregated listings)
www.realmatch.com (matches jobs based on your skills)

Good look to those looking for work!

  9. why don't people just consider that since walmart, target, and best buy all sell electronics along the same strip, circuit city couldn't compete?

yes, the economy is terrible - but some of the closings have to do with market bloating. in a way it's good, because in a coompetitive market, some businesses WILL fail, as others succeed.

american retail has not been competitive with itself in a long time. some (not all, but some) of this will simply shake out to survival of the fittest.
