“Governor O’Malley a champion tax Hiker” Cato insititute report
“I want to be an ally of Governor O’Malley in Washington,” Frank Kratovil
According to the Cato institute report:
• The lowest-scoring governor, Martin O’Malley of Maryland, spearheaded the passage of a $1.4 billion tax increase in 2007, which was unique in its large size and scope. It increased the corporate tax rate, the top personal income tax rate, the sales tax rate, and the cigarette tax rate. It also expanded the sales tax base and raised taxes on vehicles. This enormous increase will hit Marylanders directly in the pocketbook, and indirectly through slower economic growth over time.
More bad news folks, the Tax foundation held a press conference last week along with Maryland Public Policy Institute where they announced that the State of Maryland, under O’Malley, dropped in 1 year, from being the 23rd business friendly to the 45th out of 50. Again we are ranked at the very botom (along with liberal California) because of our Business UN-Friendliness.
I don’t know what that means to you, but to me it means the retention & creation of badly needed JOBS! After the passage of the biggest budget fiasco in the state, it’s the Maryland Taxpayers who are left footing the bill, and the state is still coming short of cash. Sounds familiar? 700+ Billion bailout on the federal level…
He was a horrible Mayor also.
ReplyDeleteHow worthless politicians keep winning office is unknown to me.
Its money and back room corruption.
ReplyDeleteTell me something I dont know
ReplyDelete"How worthless politicians keep winning office is unknown to me."
ReplyDeleteReal simple. Only 3 jurisdictions matter in Maryland: Baltimore City, Prince George's County and Montgomery County.
Carry them and you control the state. THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF MARYLAND.
geeee theres a big surprise. damn democrats have run this state into the ground, and going to get worse yet.
ReplyDeleteCobra,
ReplyDeleteFWIW,
Cato is libertarian ( and has done a lot of good work on anti-state issues that many readers of SBYnews would not agree with). In a classical sense they are more "liberal" than the faux liberals calling them "ultra conservative." Cato and other libertarian institutes completely destroy "liberals" on civil liberties and other issues that liberals are at least supposed to be good for. While at the same time they wipe the floor with faux conservatives when it comes to economic/market issues.
As a libertarian myself, I disagree with a lot of what I see as blind GOP partisanship on this site. That said, obviously I agree that OMalley is a terrible Governor.
I just find it funny when you have warring political factions hurling insults of "liberal" and "ultra conservative" when neither know what they are talking about and both are pro-big government statist socialists.
Ahhhh... Libertarianism. The polar opposite of Communism, and just as retarded.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with a rigid ideology that can't bend or change to any new and unforeseen circumstances!
