BREAKING NEWS! Debbie Campbell Announces She's Running For A 2nd Term On City Council

Councilwoman Debbie Campbell made her announcement at 4:00 PM today at Smith Street & Maryland.

This should be VERY exciting news for the City of Salisbury Citizens as this is a woman who has tirelessly worked her heart out for the Citizens these past 4 years.

Debbie has created a brand new website that went up at 4:00 today HERE. Save it as one of your favorites.

Her announcement came in front of some 40 people, (Kratovil only had 50 at a publicized event at SU) who were all extremely excited about her decision. Her new Website lays out her mission and goals as Enough is Enough with Crime and Taxes.

It's time everyone come together with support and assure we make a solid difference retaining Debbie on the Council and quite frankly, removing Shanie Shields from her District and rid of the rubber stamping going on in the City.

The Mayoral Race will be just as important, riding of Mayor Tilghman and assuring Comegys has no chance at all. Nevertheless, this is about Debbie. Please show her your support.

SALISBURY NEWS ENDORSES DEBBIE CAMPBELL FOR SALISBURY CITY COUNCIL.

More to come.................

  2. With luck she will be able to increase the staffing for police and fire fighters in the city and give them the raises they deserve.

  4. BRAVO!

    Now how about candidates to dump Shanie Shields and beat Barrie Tilghman (and I don't mean Bubba Comegys).

  5. You have my vote too! At least we have a few council members who are a class act. I am thrilled you are running again.

  6. Thank you for running again, Ms. Campbell. The time that you spend researching the issues (when Shanie, Gary and Louise show they do none of that) takes a tremendous amount of your time and energy--and we citizens deeply appreciate it from you. You and Ms. Cohen shine the light and show the way--it's time the others on the Council take note!!

  7. I voted for Debbie 4 years ago with enthusiasm. I will not be doing so this time around.

    Debbie has made her stint on the Council all about her. She has consistently brought the business of the city to a virtual standstill by her grandstanding. She, together with Terri Cohen to a slightly lesser extent, has nit-picked virtually every piece of legislation before them. How frustrating it is to hear their two voices monopolize the Council meetings. While Louise Smith has disappointed me at times, she has been able to run meetings in as efficient a way as possible; her task is not made easy by Ms. Campbell.

    No one expects the Council members to march in lockstep, but neither do we want to see its business slowed almost to a stop by one or two people who are wrapped up in themselves, including having their own website! There are five Council members, not one or two. It's time that we have five Council members who do not have several different agendas.

  9. To 8:45 Proper spending of my tax money won't fit in a sent time frame and the unconstitutional movement of the puppets to limit responses and questions is gross. Speak our minds Debbie and don't stop! Debbie Campbell for Council No Strings Attached

  10. 8:45 p.m., sorry to hear your disappointment. I have learned a lot from Debbie Campbell's "nitpicking legislation" and Terry Cohen's "lesser extent." I have also learned that the absence of a COMMA can make a piece of legislation worthless in a court of law!!

    Their website is informative, too. That means a lot to someone who has felt like a mushroom with the current government.

    One last thing I would like you to consider. There are indeed five members of council. And before Debbie Campbell was even sworn in, four of them were slamming her repeatedly, treating her like dirt and there was a "plan" to keep her from getting information (some plot between Mike Dunn and the Mayor).

    So, you can think think Cohen and Campbell are "all about themselves," but I think they are all about making sure citizens get the best law they can get and the best use of their tax money. Those two have taken more abuse and not because THEIR behavior deserved it, but because they were abused before they ever took their seats!

    That's no way to act!

    As for Louise Smith...she didn't disappoint. She lied. Big difference. She does NOT run an efficient meeting, and it's not because of Campbell or Cohen. It's because she doesn't apply the rules equally. She can't remember where she is in motion making, even when just passing the agenda!

    I hope you don't support our state legislatures and Congress making legislation without it being gone over with a fine-toothed comb.

    That's a real scary thought.

    I don't agree with Campbell and Cohen on everything, but I can't believe you'd dismiss what they do when they are doing it in the most hostile environment possible.

    Imagine how smooth all that brain power would operate if they didn't have to fight just to ask a question!!!

    To Mrs. Campbell, THANK YOU for running again. I am so grateful. I am so tired of us little citizens getting the short end of the stick.

    You are either:
    1 A fool;
    2. Barrie Tilghman;
    3. Lynn Cathcart;
    4. All of the above.

  14. 8:45-Debbie Campbell is the best thing to happen to city in a long time. Unlike her bobble-headed counter-parts on the city council she actually has a mind of her own and isn't afraid to speak it. As for "their own website" how else are they supposed to keep city taxpayers in the loop when Louweasil gets gavel-happy at the meetings? You should be thankful that she and Terry care enough to take the extra measures to keep us informed of things Dingle-Barrie and her crew would have swept under the rug.

  15. I too am thrilled to hear this news. Another vote for Campbell here.
    I agree on one point with 8:45-and that is that Mrs. Campbell can at times be longwinded and it seems as though nothing gets done at times--BUT-- that is where the agreement ends. I do not believe it is because she is grandstanding; nor do I believe she is so wrapped up in herself, as you state. What I see is a woman who is passionate about serving her constituents, and along with Mrs.Cohen, trying desperately to break the cycle of passing half baked resolutions and schemes that have been the hallmark of the Tilghman administration during the last 10 years. Look at what it has cost the citizens of Salisbury to have a majority on the council who appear to be there just to rubberstamp whatever comes before the council without doing their research, and getting straight answers to questions that demand thought and insight. How quickly one forgets that were it not for the tenacity of Mrs. Campbell there may still be several million dollars unaccounted for. It is my opinion that part of the SNAFU this city is in right now is due to the majority behaving in what appears to be a cavalier and condesending manner. It is because of the failure to follow established protocols and policy and common sense business practice which when followed should minimize some of the poor decisions that have cost the taxpayors dearly. It is because of a failure of leadership and competency both within the mayors office and some of the council. (I would love to see Shamie have to be the first one to cast her vote, because it appears she might not even know which way to vote if Comegys voted after her.)Sad. It is time for the good ole boy system to go bye-bye.
    It is time to elect people who are willing to put in the time to do the peoples work and not put a time limit on a persons right to speak. I get the distinct impression that some on the council have some kind of pre-conceived notion that there is a time limit they are willing to invest to do the work. Well, I am sorry, but being a council person should be more than the photo ops, and being on tv assisting the mayor hand out awards, and doling out unlimited amounts of money to SEE and Gordy, as well as businesses to locate here only to have them pull up stakes and leave us high and dry.
    Yep, give me Debbie Campbell, and more just like her.
    Lousie, Shamie, and Gary--time for you guys to go.

  18. 2:32 Nalagirl -- AWESOME comment. If there were 3 other council people who actually DID THEIR JOBS like Campbell and Cohen do, Campbell wouldn't have to be "long-winded."

    When you have to fight just so much half=baked, badly written, take care of the FOB's legislation, there's a LOT that has to be talked about!!!

    WHAT IF, WHAT IF there were actually FIVE intelligent people on that council instead of TWO? WHAT IF there was city attorney that didn't "opine" and write laws that are so flawed that they end up in court all the time -- from both sides of the fences? WHAT IF Salisbury had a mayor that wasn't into squashing anyone who didn't follow her goosestep in lockstep?

    IMAGINE what Salisbury could be! I do!

  19. I think Debbie Campbell is passionate about the city, and she wants to do good. I watch PAC 14 and I am not crazy about the way she behaves. Maybe there is some history between her and the other members of coucil that I don't know. I just think she could work with them more on at least the minor points. The city is never going to get anywhere with fights over the little things. Best of luck Debbie but try to do a better job of picking your battles. You don't have to win every skirmish. I am not a Louise Smith hater either. I think she does a good job as President. On T.V. it seems that DC and TC just treat her rudely and that's not what the city needs. And no I am not the Mayor, or Bubba, the Mayor's Daughter, or an FOB, just a PAC 14 watcher.

  20. 8:21AM--You should try coming to the meetings instead of watching on PAC 14. You'd be very surprised at what goes on off camera. You would also have a greater appreciation of what Debbie and Terry really have to put up with. I could never have the restraint that these two women show.

  21. 8:21 AM-

    You want to talk about the way Campbell and Cohen treat SMITH? That's easily the best laugh I've had this year! That's akin to complaining about how the Jews treated Hitler.

    You should take the advice of the person who posted right after you. Go to a few of the meetings in person. Just as that poster said, you'll be surprised at what goes down off camera...you really will! I know I was. And you don't have to take my word for how Smith treats not only DC and TC, but the public who elected her as well. All you have to do is go to YouTube and view any of the several videos you'll find there featuring her stellar performances. You'll see her stunning rudeness to the public, her flagrant violation of Council's procedural rules, etc.

    I'm not a Smith hater either. However, whether one hates her or loves her, it's kinda hard to argue about misconduct caught on video tape and posted for the world to see.

    I wish LS all the luck in the world when she has to run for election again. She is surely gonna need it.
