Wymzie, I thought you were a Republican (forgive me if I am wrong)! This post rips on the modern Republican Party, which thrives on fear. Now McCain is trying to duck Friday's debate because he is in a panic about the economy (which, of course, his economic philosophies helped tank). I'm curious--do McCain supporters out there seriously agree with his so-called "suspension" of his campaign? Doesn't it make you worry about his ability to be president if he cannot multi-task this, go to Washington and do what he has to do, but still participate in the debate? Really, even if you like the guy, you have to admit that this "suspension" smells to high heaven.
It may be argued that the majority of people dont want to make their own decisions but want leaders to do their thinking for them. There is an element of truth in this. People like to make their own decisions on small matters, but making decisions on difficult, fundamental questions require facing up to psycological conflict, and most people hate pyscological conflict. Hence they tend to lean on others in making difficult decisions. The majority of people are natural followers, not leaders, but they like to have direct personal access to their leaders and participate to some extent in making difficult decisions. At least to that degree they need autonomy.
Now the news is that MCCain wants to delay Palin's debate! C'mon people, this is so transparent! They cannot debate the issues if the issues focus on the economy. Palin and McCain lose on the issues, but win if they can get everyone afraid. Don't fall for it--if they cannot handle a debate with Obama and Palin, how can they handle a debate with Putin?
If you must box me; I am a Libertarian. I am economically conservative and probably more socially liberal than I should be.
I simply do not believe with any government interference in our lives.
As for McCain putting his campaign on hold I don't believe for one minute that he is afraid or incapable of facing Barrak. I think that he is doing the most appropriate thing and that is getting his ass back to DC and dealing with this incredible crisis. Both of these men are Senators and both of them need to be there. Running for President is the only posistion that one continues to get paid to spend a year applying for a better job. Obahma has spent 142 days on the Senate floor, he better get his ass back there too, to see exactly how it is that he and these other bastards are going to fix this mess.
Personnally I think these business's need to fall flat on their faces and reap what they have sown. Don't you? Don't I? We all have to take responsibility for our own actions and placing this enormous debt on the shoulders of our children and unborn grandchildren is financial tyranny, and I will oppose it every step of the way.
The post reminds of today's sheeple just going along with the flow, having their heads down trying to make a living and not pulling their head up and ever speaking up about what they know is wrong, and then it's too late.
Interestingly, McCain did warn the Senate of the coming crisis with Freddy and Fannie.
