Question Of The Day II

Are there any neighborhoods in the City of Salisbury that are safe to raise your children and someone would be proud to call home?

  1. Sure, Pemberton Pond, Nutters Crossing, Sleepy Hollow, Nithsdale just to name a few

  2. AT least half of those are not within the city limits of Salisbury, 7:18

  3. I am very happy with my neighborhood except for a family that lives across the street from me. It seems the mom forgot to teach her kids how to be polite and use manners.

  4. 7:18, are they "in" the city or outside the city limits?

  5. Some, but if you are talking about directly in the city like behind PRMC, NO!

  6. NO. My husband and I are trying to fix up the house quickly and move. We've been in our home 5 years in Feb. and every year it gets worse. The kids are so disrespectful and vandalizing everything and their parents are the ones instigating it. I've seen the parents right there in fights egging them on. No one in the city cares about our streets because they live somewhere where everything is ok. Maybe we should start sending some of this over to their neighborhoods?

  7. Nutters Crossing and Nithsdale are definitely not in the city limits. Not sure about Pemberton Ponds, but I believe Sleepy Hollow was annexed.

  8. Anon 7:18, do you really think those neighborhoods are any safer than others? There are just as many drugs in those neighborhoods as any, it's just not advertised like the Doverdale area. There being fewer minorities living in those area doesn't mean it is safer. It just means those living in those areas have enough money to keep their dirt hidden for a while.

  9. I though Nutters Crossing was the one were those teen age boys went around busting up mail boxes and driving in peoples yards. Then after that pulled into his own drive way in Nutters Crossing. Maybe it is not drugs or major crimes but I dont want to live any where that kids/teens think that fun is destroying someone elses property.

  10. New Town, off N. Division near North Salisbury Elementary, Tony Tank, behind the college, S. Division past College Avenue, Nanticoke Rd.

  11. Here's the deal. Depending on the crime, most will go outside their living area to committ crimes. What's there to destroy, steal, etc in the hood? Good neighborhoods are targeted all the time.

  12. "I though Nutters Crossing was the one were those teen age boys went around busting up mail boxes and driving in peoples yards." - Because of this, you would not feel safe or proud of living in Nutters? This is what reading blogs does to people!

  16. Anon 8:29 I am a single parent and I am doing the same thing as fast as I can.

The city of Salisbury has turned into a major crime ridden ghetto and it is getting worse. I can't blame everything on this mare and council because it started long before they took office. It happened years ago when the city started allowing micro building lots and high density for rentals and profit. This was years ago, but the current elected officials can do something about it by putting a moratorium on building construction, developements and annexations. One thing they could and should do is change the zoning and make the lots bigger and do away with rental appartments.

Another novel idea is to discontinue trying to annex the entire county of its precious farmland and forestry and focus on redeveloping what is already in the city limits. It is called urban renewal.

  17. Cobra Goofball, you have got to be kidding. New Town and North Division street has some of the highest crime rate in the city of Salisbury.

And another thing Cobra Goofball, Tony Tank is not in the city of Salisbury either. Get a life asswipe because you don't live in either of those neighborhoods so you have no idea what you are talking about.
