The Daily Times Has Their Head Right Up Their Own A$$

Did YOU see last Saturday's Paper, the Daily Times? Did you happen to catch THEIR version of the top 10 Pizza Shops in Salisbury?

Talk about a complete group of a$$ wipes, seriously! You know when I write like this I'm upset about something but Poinzetti's Pizza was #1 to them? ARE YOU ONE OF JERRY'S KIDS, OR WHAT?

I come from NEW YORK where we take our Pizza VERY seriously. The BEST #1 Pizza on the Eastern Shore is Depietro's NY Pizzeria, 211 Milford Street in Salisbury. There is NO comparison to them, unless you go to New York, where this Family moved here from.

Delmar Pizza and Vinny's Deep Dish Pizza are second and third. However, you cannot touch the quality and taste of Depetro's NY Pizza and if you haven't had it, you have NO CLUE what you're missing! It's the real deal, period.

Once I saw that article and the Ponzetti's BS, my God, you can't even lift a slice of that greasy slab of crud without it flipping over and slopping in your lap. I went there ONCE years ago and I have never gone back.

NOW, let's confirm some thing here. When someone says they serve a New York Style Pizza, that's what we expect. When you deliver crap like Dough Rollers and Ponzetti's Pizza and you have to use a fork and knife, even after the pizza is cold and 2 hours old, that's crap!

You go to Depetro's and tell them Charlie sent you, you may walk out of there with a bag of cash too. LOL, just kidding. Tell them Joey sent you from da Salisbury News and they'll take care of yuz guys. There's NO OTHER NY Style Pizza around, unless I'm not aware of them. The ones mentioned in the Daily Times, FAGETABOUTIT!

  1. so what you are saying is your fav is controlled by the mafia (say Charley sent me and they will give you the cash--- to carry back to Charley) As for the pizza, to each his own -- did you vote in the DT poll to help NY be #1?

  2. You are so right! Best pizza in town

  3. I've been going there since they first opened... and YES, it is the best around here and any place in between here and NY. Great people, service and food... all of it.

As for those self-serving "vote for me - best of polls", please!!! What a bunch of crap. Who needs to buy an over priced advertisement when you make pie like that ;)

  4. Yep, whatever Joe says is right, nobody else has an opinion!

Must be awful boring to be so perfect.

  5. I'm a Jersey girl and this pizza does not compare to any other here in Salisbury! I have been going there since the day they opened....DePietro's is the best pizza!!!

  6. NY Pizza is the best pizza in town. Who else can say crab pizza Fridays? I only wish the homemade sausage had a little more flavor.

  7. DiPietro's really is the best pizza in town, Delmar Pizza is second. I have tried them all and I can appreciate different styles of pizza, but for quality of ingrediants and flavor, DiPietro's has no equal in town. How much did the greasy pizza guys have to pay the Daily Times to get that endorsement?

  8. ever try mionis in west oc?

  9. Depietro's NY Pizzeria, the best. Hands Down.

    From another authentic New Yorker

  10. My wifes friend told us their pizza is good but expensive. But I can't say since I've never been there. As much pizza as I eat, I try to eat at the cheaper places. Delmar Pizza is definitely one of my favorite pizzas.

  11. Joe....

Don't you know it all depends on how much advertising dollars spent with Gannett, not how good the product is?

    I don't believe a single restaurant review...ever.

Now Mione's in West OC is good, but Sopranos in downtown OC is really good, but hard to get to.

  12. By far, the best pizza. Try the sausage!

  14. It by far is the best, but not the best deal. Went their yesterday for a sub and got a slice while I waited. The slice was 2.73 that is about a dollar too much. Delmar Pizza is the overall winner becuase of their price. By the way Joe, Lombardi's gets alot of votes because of the kid friendly atmoshpere. It's good for the family kids included to get a meal. Not the best tasting but overall pretty decent.

  15. Chucky Cheese, (sp?) has a great kids atmosphere too but their pizza sucks as well.

I don't care what the price is. If the food is great, that's where I go! When you GO OUT to eat, it's supposed to be a treat, in my book anyway. That's how I was raised.

That being said, if I want to treat my Wife and she's in the mood for pizza, well, you know where we're going.

  16. Sorry you don't like Lombardo's, but many do, and don't care for the NY style stuff. Live with it!

PS -- the worst I ever had was in Italy. Go figure.

    ReplyDelete
  17. what? you mean you guys dont enjoy the fake pizza from domino's and pat's? you hit it right on the head--top 3 by far are la roma, dipietro's and delmar pizza. homemade dough and new york style. and their "large" pizzas are actually large not medium!! im from fruitland so i split my pizza cravings between dipietros and la roma. ill stop and get a couple of the different slices at n.y. pizz. once in a while but i LOVE the margarita pizza at la roma. mmm now i'm hungry!!

  18. this is your quote:

"I went there ONCE years ago and I have never gone back."

since you havent been there in years, how do you know who is the best pizza this year?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I went there onc e, correct. However, friends have purchased pizza from them at different events and the pizza was exactly the same as the time I went there. Nothing has changed. Some people would pick up a slice and the cheese would just fall right off the slice as they were pulling it out of the box. Sorry, I've seen and experienced as much of that pizza as I ever will the rest of my life. It is what it is.

  20. Another native NY'er who LOVES DePietro's. No one else in Salisbury compares!
Mione's in OC is great as well. (but that's in OC and not nearly as easy to pick up at 5:30 when you're starving)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Joe you hit the nail on the head about something. When I was a kid, getting to go out to eat was a treat. I think we're all so spoiled now with eating out, it's no big deal. Pretty sad. I still view it as a treat!

    ReplyDelete
  22. What does Jerry's Kids have to do with a good pizza or a bad one? Bad choice of words.I hope you count your blessings every day. I do. And, yes, the NY pizza is awesome, but, so is Lombardi's.

    ReplyDelete
  23. DePietro's is fantastic, but why hasn't anyone mentioned Flavors of Italy? I'd put their pizza second on the list. La Roma doesn't even rank.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ponzetti's Pizza is a grease pit. blarg......

    ReplyDelete
  25. ponzettis is horrendous.
laroma is by far the best!

    ReplyDelete
  26. why don't all the owners of all the pizza restaurants mentioned here and all of their friends just keep posting comments here and have a mafia battle? only two of them would be italian, but so what? people seem to love the "authentic" restaurants in town owned by people of different backgrounds.

and we probably have more franchise restaurants per capita than any area on the east coast. people drop dead with excitement when new franchises come to town. the little guy can't compete. so why dont we all support ny pizzeria, delmar pizza, vinny's la roma, lombardi's and the like and leave your unqualified opinions out of it. or at least be more receptive to others' opinions.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Vinny had the best pizza but since Paulie came to town Vinny has got to take a back seat. Paulie uses whole milk mozzarella...big difference, homemade sauce and sausage and his dough is spun like it's supposed to be, not rolled out and shaped or frozen.

    Vinny makes the best bracciola.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Are you saying that Vinny doesn't make his sauce or use mozzarella or spin his dough like it's supposed to be done? Or are you comparing Paulie to other pizza joints in general? If it's the former, I think you're wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  29. DiPietro's is the best. I like Cafe Milano's as well. In OC, Piezano's on the Boardwalk.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Not only is DePietro's the best, the dining area is hands down better than ponzetti's. Ponzetti's has holes in thier 70's style benches and is really never clean. And they don't accept credit cards so there goes the vote for convienence. As far as thier employees, well DePietro's wins again. They are consistant as well where as you dont know what youre going to get at ponzetti's.

  31. I am also from New York and nothing beats a Pizza Wagon Pizza on 86st and 5th ave in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. But I must say that Tim's over here in the Foodlion Plaza off of Rt. 50 does a great job. I must say one of the best in Salisbury, especially for the price!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Joe, gotta make a suggestion to you my friend. If you ever get to Baltimore, go to a place called Squires Resturaunt. That place has by far, the best pizza you will ever eat. And it is a veryyyy nice sit down place to take the wife. It is a lil pricey, but well worth it. Everynow and again ill have a trip up to baltimore and we make it a habit to stop by and grab one to go.

  33. Thanks for the info on Pizza. I've been looking for a good pie since moving here 11 years ago. Still haven't found one, but I am heading out to try this place on Milford. Next you nice folks can tell me why we don't have any good sub shops. The stuff people call good is a joke! Subrunners? Awefull. Red Door? Lousy. Pizza Johns in Middle River, MD would beat all subs and pizza down here!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Maynie's has good pizza in Salisbury.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Mardela,
If the pizza and subs are so good in Middle River why don't you go back there and get one. That goes for everyone else that thinks where they come from is better. If you don't like it here, quit yer bitchin' and leave.

  36. My wife and I went to Ponzetti's once a few years back to give it a try. We ordered a pizza, two drinks, and sat down. After and hour and fifteen minutes later we still did not have our pizza even after seeing other people come and go. We just finished our sodas and left. Never even bothered to pay for the sodas. I hold grudges and vowed to never return.
