BREAKING NEWS! Sean Adkins, BUSTED!

Sean Adkins was arrested last night on 73 counts of embezzlement totaling $278,000.00 from the Coastal Comfort Heating and Air Conditioning Company in Hebron.

Coastal Comfort is a local small business that won Best of the Best businesses this year in the Metropolitan Magazine. It has taken Investigators close to a year to finally bring charges up against this 29 year old man from Salisbury. Although the charges below show $500.00 Plus Value to each count, I'm told each job was anywhere from $5,000.00 to $12,000.00 per job on average.

Obviously there will be much more to come with this story and although its Saturday afternoon, we will do what we can to get more details. I am told that he was bonded out by an Ocean City Bond Company this morning. Now that Salisbury News busted this one wide open, I'm sure you'll hear something about it by other News Sources in the very near future. We Are The Scoop Machine!

  4. this one is blown way out of proportion joe, trust me this trade is my life. coastal comfort needs to worry more about leaving men on jobs with no state licenses. explain the basis of refrigeration and electricity to me kevin, ha,ha.

  6. Cruggly-

You're misssing the point here. I'm not saying leaving people w.o a license is good or not. BUT the Crimes Sean commited are SERIOUS. Let's even -say take it out of the legal concept and look at it on a personal level. He was trusted. He could have caused Coastal Comfort to go under and the honest hard working men day in and day out to lose their jobs. Times are tough in the industry and it's not as if these men could go out and snatch up a job the next day. They all have families and bills to be paid. I don't understand how people can say it's blown out of proportion when its that magnitude of money here. Their are millions of people day in and day out that do an honest days work and have to struggle to make ends meet so why should Mr. Adkins or anyone that does these sort of crimes be given any credit to say it's being blown out of proportion. I certainly don't think you sir would be saying the same thing if you were in Coastal Comfort's shoes. Thank You

  7. I am so glad that something was finally done about this thief! Coastal Comfort is a local Heating and Air Company that with VERY hard work and perseverance has grown to be one of the best. The owner has worked very hard to build this company and for someone to come and almost ruin his livelihood is unimaginable to me. Mr. Adkins was trusted and unfortunately decided that he would take advantage of the faith that was in stowed upon him.

As for you Cruggly, I hardly think that if this was your money and someone reached into your pocket you would react any differently. Being that this is “your life” and you have some much knowledge about this trade you should be giving Kevin the respect that he deserves. Mr. Adkins knows what HE did and hopefully he will be punished for his many crimes against Coastal Comfort.

  8. so he's not the owner of the co and he's being acused/charged of taking over $500. profit from each of these jobs?

    ReplyDelete
  9. he was partner and from what I hear he stole it all ( cost of equipment, labor, profit, etc) the company wasn't seeing hardly any money if any at all

  10. About time the POS was caught!!! He deserves everything that he gets. Costal Comfort is the best company for heating and air around here with a VERY hard working and caring owner and staff. I am sure that Kevin can explain the basis of refrigeration and electricity to anyone who cares to listen!!!

  11. Damn shame. Kevin Coleman is an honest business man with a great reputation. I had him do some work for me and all I can say is that his company is top notch...except for this jerk.

Great work and Kevin was always on the job looking after his workers.

  12. I contracted with them to come to my business once a month to service my heat pump, they came one month and never came back...now I now why. When I got the contract to renew, I didn't. Sorry, I didn't know, but needed my unit serviced once a month. cj

  15. so what im gathering is once sean and kevin split, sean having the master hvac state license which he took with him left kevin operating a business without a state license for some time. is that what happened. are we getting to the truth now. so, what date did sean leave compared to what date did kevin obtain the proper state license? just a little information that might be interesting.

  16. Kevin is the msater license holder always has been

  17. 730am- don't jump to conclusions

Kevin has been in the business for over 20 years. Kevin was the only Master HVAC license holder- Sean wasn't even close. There is no underlying truths here. Kevin is an honest -straight shooter type of guy and anyone can voucher. The company has been thru a lot of crap this past year is trying to rebuild so let's not make up some BS and ruin it.

    :) have a great day!

  18. I had costal comfort to come out and service my HVAC unit. The gentleman that came out did not impress me at all. When they left several weeks later when it got chilly I decided to turn on my heat. Well I heard this noise and felt the air coming from my duct work and it was cold, no heat. I said what is wrong. I then went outside and listened and the unit did not sound right, so I went and turned the unit off. Thank god I have other means of heat. I called Sean and he came over to my house and looked at it for me. He had found that the pin were freon is put into the unit was bent and this had allowed all of the freon to escape out of the unit. Also he found that the caps that are to be on the location for the freon valves were missing. If it had not been for my thinking and Sean's diligence in finding out what was wrong I could have been out of a bunch of money I don't have. My husband and I just bought this house and I don't want to be putting a ton of money into an HVAC unit that was working fine till Coastal Comfort touched it. I will never call Coastal Comfort again. They could have costed me dearly. Sean will be doing all my HVAC work for us!

  20. I would just like to say that Kevin is a great person and excelent business owner. To find out that something this terrible was going on is absolutely shocking. Secondly, to think that Kevin and Coastal Comfort, a small growing company, made it through a hardship as dramatic as this is excellent. I think that rather then bashing Kevin and the company as some of the previous commenters have we should all congradulate them on making it through this, all the while producing quality work.

    ReplyDelete
  21. this commentating is way off topic here. This is about someone stealing 278000!

Coastal Comfort must be doing some damn good work in order to receive Best of the Best in HVAC. Every service tech makes a mistake at one time or another and i am more that willing to put money on it that Sean has too. Don't your eggs in one basket A from Salisbury I bet he won't service your unit from behind bars which is where he should be considering he almost dramactically changed a lot of people's lives. What he did is wrong and there shouldn't be a credit given to him. He is a greedy bastard that didn't think of anyone but himself during his times of wrong doing. AND if you look at the court case search-- he has another case from a few years back of which it was less than $300.. so it looks like he has a problem and should be punished accordingly!

I don't know either one of them but goodluck getting that sean guy to come out on service job for you when he is locked up! Everyone needs to realize this news story was about a man who embezzled few hundred thousand.

  23. WOW A in Salisbury must like hiring criminals, She best watch out she will be next. As for Kevin and his company I applaud them for them fighting back and becoming the Best of the best in HVAC. As for Sean he aint nothing but a low life scum that thinks of noone but himself. Maybe several years in jail will make him think of his wrong doings and what he almost did to others if it wasnt for Kevin fight hard and be the MAN he is!!!!!

A in Salisbury i just want to warn you once more watch out for the crimanls you allow to come to your home, they will turn on you too!!

  24. In the industry they are in I find it very hard to believe he took 278,000 dollars from the company and it is still in business. He may have stolen or misdirected funds but this figure seems way off base. This is a very young business and in today's world you can not go very far with out paying the bills. I have seen some of the work they do and it is average at best. I do not Know Sean but do Know Kevin and think he is an honest person however the amount stated seams way too high.

  25. No body is a criminal until proven so in court. Innocent until proven guilty in court. Just because someone has been charged with something does not make them guilty yet. We will see what happens, but until then I will never use Coastal Comfort. K must be Kevin from Coastal. Sorry for your luck but I will never be back. When two guys come out and service an HVAC unit and I am no dummy, and I see that they are unsure of what they are doing does not impress me. As I said they almost cost me a boat load of money. And I will never be be next in line to be gotten.

  26. YOU MUST BE PERFECT AND HAVE NEVER MADE A MISTAKE BEFORE.SEAN WILL HAVE A HARD TIME DOING YOUR WORK BEHIND BARS AND THE TRUTH WILL COME OUT SOON. MSP DOES NOT ARREST SOMEONE WITHOUT EVIDENCE AND REASONING.THERE IS A REASON THE COMPANY GET BEST OF THE BEST THIS YEAR!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. A. Maybe some day we'll be as perfect as you seem to be. I have had Coastal Comfort doing my work for quite some time. I know this company very well. They owner is a honest and hard working man who gave Mr. Adkins the opportunity of a life time to share in this company. Mr. Coleman is very honest and fair. He lives a very modest life style and is not GREEDY! If this is true about this service error, he would certainly would have returned your money and corrected the problem. He is known for sticking by his work and following through.

  31. An old experienced brick mason once gave me some good advise.

When the owner expands his business to the point that he can't put his tools down and take a vacation. . . he has gotton to big.

He also said another sign of being to big is that when the business seems to be running the owner instead of the owner running the business. . .its time to shut down.

I know I've also experienced this same scenario many times throughout my career.

Now I go it alone, with just one additional employee. The KIS - (Keep It Simple) - principle really works the best for me.

Now, I'm off to take my wife to the beach.

  32. I do know both Sean and Kevin.. and someone hit it on the nail Sean as a young man was giving the opportunity of a life time to start something with a 20 year veteran in the Industry. And I do know that 278k is all factual it took state investigators months to go thru all the bank records due to the Ray Lewis incident. And someone else said the state police don't arrest ppl without evidence and their is plenty of it, cut and dry evidence. The money stolen wasn't just from the profit pot it was complete jobs the labor cost , cost of units etc. And I also know it took Mr. Kevin Coleman months to dig his company out of the hole but his hard work and dedication prevailed and what you know they won best of the best this year... Hats off to them. As for Sean he knows he messed up and he'll have to live with his choices the rest of his life.

  33. Coastal has one of the best service men in the area named Will.. if you don't believe me ask around. Man is smart and knows what the hell he is talking about. Knows way more about HVAC servicing than Sean will ever know.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Sean was even in the field long enough to learn anything about service work. he was just a lucky kid who was in the right place at the right time when a veteran decided to start a new venture. Kid got greedy kid got fired kid got arrested kid learned a life lesson

    ReplyDelete
  35. so if he stole 278K of labor product and profit he really cost the company probably more like 500k meanings the product and labor wasn't being paid and had to paid back with additional funds

    make sense??

    ReplyDelete
  36. Will is not one of the best service men around. He is the absolute best. He knows anything there is to know. I know him very well and he settles with nothing less the the best and values the quality of his work.

    ReplyDelete
  37. These comments about Sean are without merit. These are charges. He has not been convicted in a court of law. I know Sean. I know his character. Sean has always worked hard and shown respect. Sean deserves his day in court. He does not need to be tagged guilty before he has had a chance to defend himself. I will be praying for Sean and his family. That they have strength and support during this stressful time. There are many in Salisbury and the surrounding area who know Sean if you come on this site, please write your comments too.

    ReplyDelete
  38. There are a lot of us that know Sean. I once thought he was a honest respectable person, because he came across that way. However, after hearing about this and a few other things I now know that Sean is not the person that he resembled. He is a criminal and there is no denying that. He simply put on a good front!! And thats the only thing he should be given credit for.

    ReplyDelete
  39. would you defend other criminals?? A murderer, rapist, how about some drunk driver who hit another car, or a burglar?? Sean may come off to everyone as a nice young man but underneath he is a scumbag. The police have been investigating long enough to see something other than someone pointing there finger. And if 'everyone gets there day is court' is your only defense then you shall soon see that mans true colors. I mean havent you seen their backyard, or how bout all new vehicles they kept getting, or the landscaping, or all the work done to their house.. that money sure as hell didn't come off a small business salary! He had everyone fooled...

But you know...we'll see what happens in court.

    ReplyDelete
  40. ABSOLUTELY!!!! anonymous 10:24 pm. Just because someone is hard working does not give him/her the right to steal from others who are hardworking, ie; the owner of this company and his family, as well as, the employees and their families. He has has not been convicted yet, but there is sufficient evidence that he committed this crime or he would not have been arrested. Mr. Coleman's character has come under attack as well and he did'nt do anything wrong!

    ReplyDelete
  41. When is someone going to get Sean's point of view. There are two sides to every story. Kevin must have been oblivious to what was going on, if anything was. Wouldn't a good business owner keep track of what was going on in his own business? I am suprised that the Daily Times has not picked this up and tried to run him in the ground as well.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I too know sean and his family very well. Who are we to make judgement on others. My hearts and prayers to the family.

    ReplyDelete
  43. you only know what he allows you to see. he isn't going to just tell you he stole money. AND Kevin can obviously run a decent business since he worked it out of a hole.

no more comments needed here. everyone will just have to sit back relax and enjoy the ride til court.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Bare allegations contained in a District Court charging document are not evidence. The fact that someone is charged with a crime(s) is certainly not evidence of guilt. A large majority of cases in the court system today are dismissed without a trial after the prosecution finds no prosecutorial merit, others are found not guilty. Most commentators on this post clearly seem to forget that our system of justice stands for "innocent until proven guilty."

This Blog amounts to nothing more than a gossip column. The comments and conclusions of those attacking Sean Adkins are without merit. Caution should be taken by those who spread disparaging, malicious words and content without proof or facts to substantiate their claims.

    ReplyDelete
  45. When this is done, Kevin will be sharing the cell with Sean. Kevin took money also and I will be laughing when it happens. He did it while working at his previous company and continued with this company.

    ReplyDelete
  46. In case you did not read the whole blog they have been investigating this for a year now. Dont you think that they would have found something on Kevin and arrested him the same day they did kevin. Come on lets think a little before you run your mouth.
