There are not many great eateries in the Downtown area but the Uptown Chef serves a great lunch and is very convenient to many of the businesses Downtown. If you haven't been there, give them a try.

You blast Gordy for charging a few cents more than the low price stations for gas, but this eatery is hugely overpriced for what they serve.

ReplyDeleteThe Uptown Chef has a unique menu and everything I have ordered has been very good. The owner has been in the restaurant business for years and she knows how to run a nice place. She is a chef and is very creative. Good luck to Uptown Chef.
ReplyDeleteDowntown Jimmy's (or 327 Main or whatever they're called) is what is way overpriced. $7 for a BLT? Now I don't mind paying for GOOD food, but reheated Sysco crap, no thanks. The rolls haven't even been properly defrosted before being baked, the salad mix is half rotten. All of the vegetables are out of cans. (frozen or fresh only please) They kitchen cleaniness is certainly questionable, service slow, and they can't even afford to turn on the air conditioning.

ReplyDeleteCarryout or dine in food is not a commodity like fuel. If someone is happy paying $8 for a real nice lunch, instead of the dollar menu, that is their choice. Comparing fuel to foodservice is not relevant.
I ate at Uptown Chef last week. Nice lunch and I would definitely go there again and guess what>>> brewed Ice Tea. God I hate it when I spend a fair amount for lunch only to get "instant" tea. I have become so obsessed over that, I always ask first before ordering the tea. Spice
