Some protesters arrested at the Democratic National Convention could be jailed in a city- owned warehouse, complete with metal cages and barbed wire, CBS4 News has learned.
Investigative reporter Rick Sallinger discovered the location and managed to get inside Tuesday for a look. The newly created lockup, in a warehouse northeast of
Each of these fenced-in areas is about 15 feet by 15 feet, with a lock on the door.
A sign on the wall reads "Warning, electric stun devices used in this facility."
Sallinger showed video of the warehouse to Adam Jung of
"That's how you treat cattle," Jung siad. "You showed the sign where it said stun gun in use. And you just change the word gun for bolt, and it's a meat-processing plant."
The Denver Sheriff's Department would not discuss the facility. Instead, the sheriff's department said late Tuesday the mayor's office would be releasing a statement about it early next week.
"We're going to tell you about it," said Capt. Frank Gale, of the sheriff's department. "We're going to have the community and the media come out and view the place ."

Most law enforcement agencies are allowed to arrest and hold without formal charges for 24-72 hours, and without access to an attorney. My guess is these will be holding "pens" only and for protesters only. Anyone really seen as a threat will be taken "downtown." As for bathroom facilities, hmmm?
ReplyDeleteIsn't not amazing the same party that wants muslim terroist who have been captured to have jail accommodations equal to staying at a Hilton and is willing to have protestors at the democratic convention treated worst than animals! This party is acting more everyday like what happen in Germany in 1930s. No decent, they turned off C-span and they want to shut down talk radio!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe the country would be better off if the politicians were the ones in the slammer rather than the protesters.
ReplyDeleteLast time I checked this is America and you are allowed to peacefully protest.
ReplyDeleteAdditionally, when this happened in NY and the protesters were locked up at pier 54 during the RNC it was portrayed as the 'NeoCons' locking up liberal demonstrators. But this is the DNC; who exactly is going to demonstrating?
NeoCon Activists? Is Pat Buchanan going to be there? Maybe Pat Robertson...I not sure I get it.
Conservative demonstrators?
