  2. We have two, a brother and sister. They are Border Collie/Lab mixes. We are so fortunate that they let my wife and I live in "their" house with them. If they ever find out that they are "just dogs" it would break their hearts. In the beginning, we could spell words to keep them from knowing what we were talking about. Now they know how to spell, and they always know what is going on. When I die, I want to come back as a pet dog.

  6. I WANT another dog eventually when my daughter gets older....we really want a chocolate Lab but they are quite expensive and I want to have a bigger place before I get one because dogs like that need room ro safely roam. Not to mention they need someone home with them more than we are home now.

  7. Yup two Black Labs named Duke and Maxx. They are both refuges (rescues) when I got them and just didn't want to take their names away from them!

Totmom, I got really lucky at Worcester county humane society, That's where I got Maxx, he was already used to hand signs, I could throw the ball and tell him to stay and he won't fetch until I say "Go." They had a mentally challenged Mexican kid there name Carlos that worked with Maxx and the other dogs a lot.

While living and working in West OC I found an Irish Setter eating out of our restaurant dumpster 1983ish. Already house trained I finally took him home and he laid down on the carpet under the pool table like he'd been there his whole life. After hanging around the marsh for so long he did need a good bath.

He had stomach worms, heartworms, ticks, fleas you name it but he bounced back I had him until about the age of 15. When I first saw him you could see every bone, ribs, even in his head, dehydrated bad. I named him "Bones."

Many people think so much of their animals they bring them to OC as part of the family, however sometimes they get loose and when the family has to return home the best they can do is leave signs and call the humane society. You may want to check it out. I haven't been there in so long I hope it's still operating the same way.

They didn't just throw animals away after a period of time there either. Maxx as allergies and didn't have any hair when they found him so he was hard to market. They kept him 6 months before I found him there, Ms. Canille brought Maxx scraps from home, a wonderful lady.

Maxx has to take 5mg Predizone daily but he does keep hair now, 90 day supply only costs $15. I can't imagine someone getting rid of a dog for just that, he may have wandered off too. I've had good luck there, great people. Maxx had already been nuetered, had his shots and didn't cost me one cent! Well I did send them a donation. I had been working with some ladies that had a network for dog rescues, I got their reference so I also didn't have to wait the waiting period, loaded my boy on and riding we went.

They were so happy when we pulled out of there, well, I think Carlos may have been bummed out a little, I think he favored Maxx but he had many more to work with.

  10. Yes, we have a dog, who is a 3 year old child in a fur coat.My issue is that so many people feel fondly of their pets, and they are banned from Federal Parks, some state parks, not even allowed to sight see in the vehicle much less get out.Ocean City has such a ban during the tourist season.  I think there should be a portion of the beach dedicated to those who have dogs, and want to enjoy them at the ocean.Lots of places in the US have done so, we should too.  It is a good thing..

  13. Two labs - Chocolate and Yellow. Best darn dogs you'll ever meet. One is extremely active and the other is what my husband refers to as his "drinking dog". Both are very personable and extremely good with children. They are definitely a huge part of our family. My little one likes to give the both dogs kisses but the yellow lab kisses her back. This home isn't complete without our two dogs.

  14. My dog is literally the "bitch" of the house. He was brought in with loving arms yet came from an atrocity...
I knew he was home...and loved by all when the cat - she runs the house...parked her rear end, looked at him and i swear she almost smiled. Regardless...she is his master...but................
