Question of the Day, Fri 8/29

This week (8/25-8/29) is National "Safe at Home" Week.

How safe is your home? If you have kids, is it kid-friendly? If you have pets, is it pet-friendly? Do you test your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors tested monthly?

  1. Our home is pet, kid and elderly friendly. Our smoke and carbon monoxide detectors work and the batteries are checked monthly. We have the oldest and best security systems money can buy. Our property is protected by Winchester and Browning our home is protected by Smith & Wesson. We also have many acres with a chicken pit and a backhoe. It doesn't get much safer than that. We sleep well at night knowing how secure we are.

  2. If you live outside of Salisbury City limits u are 100 times safer and 100 times less likely to be robbed or vicim of violent crime. So I am much safer, I have good locks with 3 inch screws in the plates and hindges (learned that at the citizens police academy, makes it harder to break in), lights and an alarm system. Smoke detectors, I'm all good, sorry city residents

  3. My home is pet, kid and elderly friendly. My dogs let me know the second someone walks on THEIR property. I've watched people walk across the street instead of on my side due to the barking they hear.

I live in Fruitland. Yes, there is crime but it's also everywhere now. I feel very safe with the police force we have.

  4. I do not use CO2 detectors because I have all electric appliances but I most certainly have a smoke detector-everyone should. As far as alarms and elaborate locks go,have no need for them.None of us out here lock our doors often because we are so far out from civilization and we look out for each other. Most of our neighbors are the type who have several guns on the premises and know how to use them all.
And don't laugh but since I do not know how to use a gun I improvised my own little weapon I keep close by the front door on the nights my husband is on the road-An aerosol can and a BBQ lighter!Crude but it would definitely stop someone. Then when they are blinded by the inferno in their face,I can swing my Ping at their skull.
