WICOMICO COUNTY LIQUOR CONTROL BOARD MEMBERS SALARIES

Earlier in the week there was a post regarding Wicomico County Liquor Control Board Salaries:

The posted comment read like this:

Again, more misinformation. The Board Chair(Haemel) makes $3,500 per year and the other two members make $2,750 per year for their work. So obviously, they aren't in it for the money. The Govenor appointed them to do a job for the good of Wicomico Co. so they are doing it, without much real compensation and with a lot of slander from their fellow citizens. And unlike the Council, they cannot vote themselves a pay raise.

You know SBYnews always try to stay on top of the latest and greatest.

Well here you go. . . this will make for a good posting. . .it is the new salaries for Board Chairman - Stu Haemel, and other Liquor Board members including Allesi as authorized by Governor O'Malley:

It is interesting to see the Delegates who signed on to increasing the salaries to HB 112 - (http://mlis.state.md.us/2007RS/billfile/hb0112.htm).

If Haemel and Allesi are moonlighting - using the Liquor Dispensary treasurey - to their own financial benefit . . it is improper and ought not be allowed.

In light of the facts this system should be brought immediately to a public referendum. And in light of the authorities who issued the raises. . . I'm quite sure they'll concur when the public catches wind of their salary increases.

  1. Someone needs to request the payroll information of the board. These increases go into effect only when a new term begins. By law, the sitting board can't benefit from this increase.

  2. I'm confused by this post. The first reference is a veto letter from O'Malley. So this indicates there are/were no salary raises?

  3. There were raises by the SB not the HB. They were $6,000 and $5,000 respectively.

  4. there is more compensation than you think or can read about, they don't work over 80 hours a year, like other boards around here the members are not always in attendence either

  5. I thought they were volunteers and not paid. Now I wonder what they pay Alessi to run the Zoo Comission?
