Thank You To A Soldier!

"Joe,

I am fairly new to your site and I wasn't sure how to post something so could you please help me? I work at Food Lion on Nanticoke RD, and I had a gentleman come thru my line who just returned from Afghanistan. He was telling me how he didn't have shave cream over there plus a lot of other things that we civilians could not fathom. I was so absorbed in what he said that I forgot to tell him Thank You! for protecting us. Could you pease get this out there so maybe this gentlman will read this and know that I appriciate all he has done. If by some chance he should get redeployed I would be happy to keep him in shaving cream. Thank so much Joe!

  1. There are many organizations that assist civilians in locating soldiers in Iran and Afghanistan who need supplies, like shaving cream, to make their lives a little easier. Please encourage your readers to sign on to support our troops by making a commitment to send at least one letter or care package a month to a soldier away from the US. I was matched through Soldiers Angels http://www.soldiersangels.org/

  3. it means a lot to military members to hear people thank them for what they do i know many americans disagree with the war but they still support the military members.when i arrived at the airport to leave many random people approached me to just say thank you it honestly teared me up a little knowing these people cared enough to thank me it also made me proud to wear my uniform to represent these people and defend them and their freedom.

  4. Our government should be ashamed. As much money as they are pissing away overseas in this whole war and they cant keep our troops in shaving cream? These are things our government should be furnishing them with but they are not.Thankfully there are good citizens like this checker who care about our troops more than our government.

  5. How come this soldier didn't let his family know he couldn't get shaving cream? That's how we handled such things back when I was in combat with the Marine Corps. The only thing we seemed to have problems getting, was moustashe wax for the handle bar moustashes we all grew. And now a days the troops have email to send requests home.

  7. Hey Art,

Unfortunately, the world isn't the same place it might have been when you were in the Marines. Not all soldiers have families that can or will support them by sending care packages. Commanding officers often recommend needy soldiers through sites like Soldiers Angels. Some soldiers NEVER receive a single piece of mail let alone a care package. Can you imagine what that must feel like?
