Tawes Crab & Clam Bake Brings In More Than $800,000.00!

Not too shabby for a 3 1/2 hour long event! That being said, why hasn't Wicomico County/Salisbury come up with a way to hold their very own event like this, perhaps named after a former Mayor, Sheriff or even former Salisbury Police Chief?

I'm starting to like this idea.

  1. God forbid naming anything after anyone in this county! Remember when they wanted to name something after Mr. Berry, I believe. How sad! People deserve recognition when they have devoted their life to a given thing. The Maggs Center was named after Ben Maggs who devoted his life to sports and SU. I knew him well and he deserved that honor. But still a good idea Joe. Spice

  5. The Jaycees are about the only ones up there in Sowsbury, that have enough sense to pull something like this off!!

  6. You mean something like Pork in the Park, one of the 10 largest events sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society?

  7. You mean something like Pork In The Park which is boring and hokey and no one goes to?

The Tawes Festival is a place to see and be seen. Pork in the Park is an excuse to stuff your face.

  10. I can just see Barrie at the "Colbourne Dykes Crab and Clam Bake."

All of Crisfield seems to shut down and get behind this. Sort of like a citywide holiday.

The Salisbury Festival has never had that oomph to it.

  11. Perfect Idea !! However it has to remain an adult only function, no droopy pants punks trying to steal beer and start trouble!! Like the Salisbury Festival!!

  12. There were a few droopy pants wannabe thugs roaming around the Tawes event. They had red wrist bands so someone paid the $40 for them to get in.

On another note. The county stadium would be a great place, its fenced in, GRASS surface, tents and beer could park inside the fence, any other vendors could set up around the perimeter of the fence. Park cars at the civic center, WI HI and over at the old mall. People in Crisfield were charging $10 to park on their property. It could be an awesome event. Coulbourne Dykes Crab Festival. We would never have to worry about Barrie coming anywhere near it and all would be well. Something to be planned for next year, set the day anytime after April when she is out of office.

  13. Joe, I don't ususally get crude, but this popped into my head and is too good to not submit. How about a BPT Sh!t-Eating Contest? It could be catered by the WWTP, all the Wicomico River water you can drink, with the mayor and her cronies as contestants. The 2 decent humans on the Council, C & C, would be excused from participation because it could be a non-scheduled work session. I know a lot of people who would pay big bucks to watch this!

  15. 6,000 tickets times $40 each is $240,000 gross and those crabs and all that food is expensive. It's good for our town, but not that good. Check your math.

  16. That's just TICKET SALES, IDIOT!

That doesn't include Booth Space, licenses, sponsors, etc. etc. etc..
