Yes, for some of us, SUMMER VACATION IS OVER! Considering our little guy goes to All Year Round School, he's back into his routine once again at Delmar Elementary. For what it's worth, YAHOO!
Yeh, good for you and Jen, but poor Gavin has to get up with the chickens and go to class. He will enjoy it probably, once he gets used to it. They do have AC at his school, I hope.
The Year Round Program is one of the most expensive programs in the county. The cost of air conditioning parts of that building for classes and special subjects as well as the cafeteria, paying special area teachers on a contractual basis to teach art, music, phys.ed, etc., paying a nurse, and paying bus drivers (at least one of whom had only one child on his bus for the entire Year Round session until the other kids came back to school). Attendance is no better than kids on the regular schedule, discipline referrals are more numerous in Year Round, test performance is worse, and these are the reasons the program was created. It needs to go.

ReplyDeleteGreat Grandpa
some of my best memories from childhood were during the summer.
