One of my biggest concerns was the failure of the Tilghman Administration to successfully manage anything, let alone another TIF project. Look at the Marina, it's a failure. Look at all the failed Condos along the River, 3 units sold out of 40 units built. Other Condos started but now sit 1/4 of the way built and no sign of recovery. The Downtown Plaza has failed for 10 years now. The old Fire Station. I even mentioned the stupid Arts District. Tell me Folks, do you know of ONE Artist that took advantage of that project?????
The City is being run by a House Wife who has no corporate experience and now she wants to take even more property away from taxpaying citizens and or property owners simply because this is what Mayor Barrie Tilghman will run for re election on or it will be Bubba's main feel good topic should he run.
There's the Old Mall and the TIF involved there. The River Walk has sidewalks wanting to completely flip over. There's work out stations along that area I have never once seen a human being use. Granted, I've see LOTS of dogs using them but not for exercising! Unless you call lifting your leg and peeing on them an exercise?
It would be a complete disaster to watch this Mayor try to take control of yet another financial failure, just as she has proven to fail at any project in the past. I challenge ALL of you to please tell me one project she succeeded in? Have you been down Isabella Street? Seriously, I went down it yesterday and not only is it a cluster f*(%, they're going to tear it up within 60 days AGAIN to run some kind of sewer lines down that street.
I'm still waiting to hear of a project the Mayor and Council have succeeded in? I'll move onto another topic. Look at this Skate Park. Here is a group of people saying, WE DON'T WANT A HAND OUT! They're raising their own money, now the Mayor supports them 100%! ROTFLMAO!
OK Barrie Tilghman, then why is the stupid Dog Park costing the taxpayers? You'll respect and treat ANIMALS better than you will taxpayers???????
How about the Zoo? How much money has the Zoo Commission raised to pay for that $2,000,000.00 Animal Services Building????????
Screw the taxpayers and take care of the animals. Makes sense to me. I live in Delmar and again, we just laugh at you Idiots!
Salisbury is falling apart -- infrastructure, roads, sewer and water lines, Downtown Plaza, City Park & Zoo -- so Barrie and Bubba need to deflect public attention and scrutiny by proposing pretty panaceas (remember the Salisbury Mall & its TIF) like trying to be called an "All American City" (no, I didn't make that up), a "dog park" and now "revitalization" of the North Prong.
ReplyDeleteStep One: get a consultant to do a powerpoint with nice pictures from elsewhere and say it could be "just like that" (hey, it worked for Natelson and Dzaman).
Sure, and pigs can fly. This nonsense needs to be stopped in its tracks before more city funds get flushed down the drain.
"proposing pretty panaceas"
ReplyDeleteGreat phrase!
"Feeding the public bullsh*t" is more comprehensible to most, however.
I thought this was a great quote in response to the story on the Local Rag.

ReplyDeleteGreat work on putting this before the public in gory detail (unlike the Daily Times cheerleading squad).
I think that the re-vitalization and development of the "North Prong is a great idea. BUT! The Mare is putting the cart before the horse. The infrastructure in the city is in shambles, the city is NOT on sound financial footing, and in fact it is deep in debt. The "Downtown" re-vitalization has not happened, and yet she goes full speed ahead, as if everything is wonderful. The property owners are being overtaxed, and the homeowners are being overcharged for services, and money is being spent foolishly, all because of poor management, and misguided priorities by the Mare and her monkeys. FOB's get richer; EOB's spend their time and money in court.
ReplyDeleteWAKE UP BARRIE.......... You can't be that blind or stupid. Greed and lust for power prevail in Salisbury. It is time for it to end!
In my humble opinion

ReplyDeleteWe need a place like the North Prong is now -- if they really wanted to revitalize it then zone it as the only place in town for those porno palaces and sex shoppes.

ReplyDeleteTell Comegys that there's no there, there. Surely he can go figure that one as he follows the yellow brick road. Bubba's brilliance is positively Ozzian.

Did anyone pay attention to the photo in the daily crime of the decrepit area of the north prong? Guess who owns that unkempt property? CITY OF SALISBURY. Need I say more?
ReplyDeleteYes our queen bee has given us all taxitis and wants to add to our misery. We need the mayor and the council to be more concerned with infastructure needs, not all this creation of new projects that are bound to fail!

Let me get this right. Barrie/Gary and their developer buddies want to shut buisnesses down along the river. Businesses that have been there for ages, paid taxes into the city/county/state coffers for ages, provide jobs for others, are to be shut down and either move or go out of business because Barrie/Gary want it?
ReplyDeleteThey want to shut business down, remove homes along the river on Lake St and rebuild a multiuse center. This multiuse center will be HOMES AND BUSINESSES? WTF???
People don't support the boutiques on the plaza why would anyone think a boutique could survive there where established businesses are at present? Does anyone believe people will come to visit Salisbury, the 10th most dangerous city in the USA? Get the f**k out of here.
Hey Barrie & Gary, exactly how much is the kickback you'll receive from this disaster?
How much are those BS consultants costing the City taxpayers this time? Are they the same ones who said the downtown plaza would soon be booming if it were opened to vehicles? Or the ones who think that we should use Rockville as a model for redevelopment?
ReplyDeleteThe north prong bullshit consultants are getting $40,000 to tell us how great it will be to displace families and for businesses to relocate.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to tell them where to go and it wouldn't cost anyone a dime.
Seems that she sold lots of those city business banners in the past two years. but I bet that put a lot of unbudgeted revenue into her hands...
ReplyDeleteI'll stand with the business owners on Mill St. Anything I can do to help, all you have to do is ask. I know better than most what it is to have land stolen and your heritage destroyed by liars and thieves driven by greed.
ReplyDeleteThose people have been there for decades. Take a look at Richard Holloways building, it's a beautiful old building. Mill St is full of history if anyone would take the time to listen to the people. How dare Barrie Tilghman or Gary Comegys. Eminent domain is nothing more than a license to steal. I hope those people fight these lying, thieving, conniving, good for nothings to the end.
PRONG

PRONG
I'm sick of hearing that mayoral fixation!
(It'll go 3 prongs on the council to 2 with minds.)
Assign Public Works the task of cleaning it up. Give them some overtime. It'll cost way less than this ABSURD, in these lean times, proposal.
Any money otherwise spent on this POS proposal will go the way of the other riverfront proposals, not to mention Isabella street disaster. Would like to see a firetruck run down there in heavy traffic. A newly maintained one we already have!
Please allow ME to manage the prong.
ReplyDeleteIt'll positively go where it belongs!

I got news for you pal, that photo in the Daily Crime IS the area used by PUBLIC WORKS. Pretty, ain't it?
Seriously. Are those people crazy? Why on earth would anyone with even half a brain contemplate such a project with 1.so many other projects incomplete 2.in such an uncertain economy 3.with so much negativity about these people and their ideas already 4.in light of the fiscal fiasco already existing with the city...spending more money on "surveys" or "analyses" or otherwise throwing good money after bad....WTF is wrong with them?
ReplyDelete9:02:
ReplyDeleteI know.
That's why they should clean it up.
