Have you ever taken something from work to use at home? Is taking office/janitorial/medical supplies from work the same as shoplifting or stealing? Have you ever taken something from work for personal use? Did your boss know about it?
If you take something home from work , it should be with permission. If you take something from your company to use I.E. paper, paper clips , note pads etc. it is stealing ! Most companies budget for people who are stealing supplies , sad ain't it!
I used to work at a local pest control company (15 yrs ago). The owner allowed employees to take pesticides home to do their own spraying as long as it was recorded. His opinion was that it was going to be taken anyhow, so why not allow the employees to do it with his approval. While I could not stand this person as an employer or even a human being (cheated on wife constantly with office help - I had to make excuses when the wife called), this was one magnanimous act that I cannot fault.
i took a highlighter from the supply closet once. i stole it. i've also brought my own pads of paper to use though so now there's just pads in the closet sitting there that the office paid for.

Does it count if you date someone from work and take them home for "personal use?" :)
ReplyDeleteIf it doesn't belong to you, it's stealing. It is sad that a business must include theft in the equation, that makes for a higher price for everyone.
ReplyDeleteIt is stealing; plain and simple!
