A Comment Worth Posting

"A few weeks ago, my husband & I wanted some fried chicken for dinner, so we drove into Popyes on north 13. He stayed in the car & I went in to order. While waiting in line forever, I witnessed an argument between a customer & an employee, it got pretty rough! They obviously knew each other. One couple in line walked out without ordering. When I finally got back to the car, my husband said he witnessed 3 drug deals right in the parking lot. A female employee came out the front door, pulled a baggie from her pocket picked something out of it and gave it to a guy who then gave her money. He also saw the same thing happening from the back area. This was in broad daylight and no one seemed to be worried about being seen. I was close to calling the cops but I wanted to get out of there in one piece. I hope the police know this is happening & comes down on them for this. I sure miss English Grill north & south for a bucket of chicken!"

How about that Chiefy of Police, eh?

  3. You should have called the cops!
That's why the city is in piss poor condition , who wants to get involved! Don't complain if you see someone breaking the law and you don't report it.

  4. yes, I have been in that same situation, at that same popyes. I was inside trying to order my food and there was some kind of argument between an employee, and a supposed customer I thought. I found this awful strange at the time, very disrespectful, and bad business practices of them!! Then to get outside and find out from my stepfather, that was waiting for me in the parking lot, that he had seen 2 or 3 drug deals right there in plain view, in broad daylight. With seemingly, no worry's about anything on there part!! how can this keep on happening?

  5. I have called (The Cops) the police numerous times to no avail. I am a service contractor in Salisbury and see this kind of action every day in Salisbury. I do my best to keep my family away from Salisbury as much as possible. The drug trade in Salisbury is much bigger than most of Salisbury's citizens realize. We have some great police officers in this area but for the most part it seems like they just look the other way.

  6. Hey, maybe Webster can park his city owned car there and make the busts, instead of sitting down in Crisfield drinking beer or whatever!

  7. My friend was once the manager of Popeyes north and he had the place running like a well oiled machine. I guess the place changed ownership in 2004 and he was replaced from the owner or higher ups brother who didn't know how to run the place. I've been seeing the place go to hell ever since. I swear they just hire bodies to fill positions. The employees hardly even recognize you're even there and the place has gone into ruin. We should all email the owner of this establishment and tell him we're no longer gonna patronize his/her business anymore

  8. I wrote this where the comment first popped up:

    Folks, a couple of suggestions.

When you witness a crime like drug dealing, leave the area, then call the cops. This lady's husband might have been able to identify the female employee at Popeye's and she might have "given up" somebody higher up to save her butt.

If you call and the Salisbury police have no one to send, you can send a thank you note to Shanie "Crime is not a problem" Shields, Gary "The fire department volunteers need toys" Comegys, and Louise "I go along with whatever Gary and Shanie want" Smith for not working with Campbell and Cohen to fund more police officers.

I'll add, more people need to get out council meetings and raise this hell to their faces. The mayor's there, too, so you can get a two-fer.

  9. The only ones that care about taking care of those problems is the poor low guys that actually got into police work to fight crime, and help people. The administrators and elected members didn't see enough of a problem to give the city more officers. Same number of officer increasing amount and severity of crime = no change, if not worsening

  10. Joe,
    I have a question,
When a person that commits a crime gets away with committing the crime, does that mean that the VICTIM has been VIOLATED AGAIN, only this time by the Police and Judicial system?

  11. Why should this person call the police?I called them daily on the thugs selling crack on the corner where I lived in Salisbury and they did nothing!Oh wait they did insult and patronize me.I do not care what people smoke or snort behind closed doors but when they are stopping cars in front of my home I get pissed.Complaining to SPD is a good way to put your whole family in danger from the thugs.Nothing will get done and now the bad guys know you are the one complaining-thats why I had to move.

  12. Oh and BTW-the Shore Transit system is one big drug smuggling operation. All the hoodlums and thugs ride it from Crisfield to Pocomoke to Salisbury and other points.Want to nip it in the bud?Police oughtta check out the people on theses buses. What do you think those guys are toting around in those gianormous backpacks and duffels?

THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL SUPER SHERIFF?

  14. The reason nobody wants to do anything has a lot to do with the number of rental properties there are in the city. Not all but many people that rent just don't care. Another is fear of retaliation from thugs and punks, many times people may have to look the other way or end up with flat tires, bricks threw your window, shot?

  15. "The drug trade in Salisbury is much bigger than most of Salisbury's citizens realize. We have some great police officers in this area but for the most part it seems like they just look the other way."

    Reason why:
SPD officers are (1) stupid (2) lazy (3) chicken.

  16. I call the sheriff dept. and
always get a response. I called last night and they came right away.

  19. Go to Bay Country Meals just North of the Center at Salisbury. Same English's Chicken as you remember from English's, and they even have those wonderful sweet potato biscuits.

The chicken is much better than Popeyes, and from comparing my visits to Bay Country Meals to your visit to Popeyes, I would say safer too.

  20. Unfortunately, the police are all to busy taking care of "other" crimes to get to the real crime in our cities.

We have domestic disturbances, fights, and other disruptions that pull them away when they should be out taking care of the drug trade.

The same thing happens with all of our emergency services. Every time a person calls an ambulance for a non-emergency, our paramedic goes out of town to take that non-emergency patient for a joy ride in the ambulance. During that two hour interval, someone might have a real emergency, like a heart attack, a stroke, or a critical car accident, and there might not be another paramedic available from our station. Which means transporting with EMT care, or waiting for or meeting a paramedic in route. That loses precious time.

    Think about that.

A drug deal should be reported to police immediately, and should be responded to.

  21. I recently witnessed two city police questioning a suspect at the Super Soda just north of Isabella st. (I later read in the police blotter that they had stopped him for trespassing...) As they were grilling the guy, a "john" pulled into the parking lot not 30 feet behind the officers, chatted up a hooker, picked her up, and pulled away. I actually doubled back to ask the cops what the hell is wrong with them, but they had since bagged the perp, and moved on. Seriously, folks-- when is someone going to stand up and say "ENOUGH!!!"? I am SO sick of driving home through the gauntlet of hookers on north 13. It's disgusting, disheartening, and effing FRUSTRATING, especially when I have to explain to my 5 year old nephew why "so many ladies" are standing on the side of the road. Of course, I tell him they're waiting for the bus, but we all know that's not the case. Of all the problems this city has, busting a bunch of methed-out hookers is just about the easiest to fix, and yet NOTHING GETS DONE. I want somebody held accountable. NOW.

  22. 1:57....spd cops are (1) too few, (2) over worked, (3) under appreciated, (4) underpaid....
what self righteous jerk makes a comment like that? One that doesn't have to put up with any of the above four things!

  23. It is estimated the city of Salisbury has approximately 28,000 people. Salisbury Police Dept, which Barrie and Chief Webster says is now fully staffed, has a total of 88 police officers. That means there is 1 officer to 318.18 people in the city.

Fully staffed at 1978 requirements is NOT fully staffed in 2008...IDIOTS.

Remember this in the upcoming election. The mayor and chief that couldn't care less about the police officers well being OR YOUR SAFETY.

Don't be fooled by the Cathcarts crap using their son in law, who works for SPD, as a pawn.

  24. i came threw salisbury this morning and there was a couple of hookers out in front of that sleezy motel, very obvious to me what was going on. take a good look at these woman, not even on my drunkest day, these ladies are gross. they may well have to set up some sort of camera to catch everything on tape and flush the trash away from salisbury.

    ReplyDelete
  25. in my opinion all these hookers and robberies are caused by one thing and one thing only, "salisbury and the eastern shore has a massive herion problem" hell its cheaper than smoking cigs, now i know this may piss some of you off, but i believe it to be the truth. alot of this herion is coming here via illegal aliens, their the ones with all the black tarr herion. this drug has re-emerged itself on the country, this drug is for life.get rid of the herion and the city will clean up itself. make it 20/years if caught with herion in the city and county. yes addicttion i understand, but just because some people are addictted to this drug does not justify our beautiful home being destroyed.

  26. The kind of men who get BJ's from strange women don't care what they look like-unfortunately they think(incorrectly) they cannot get AIDS this way.
All Salisbury needs now is a few methadone clinics and it will be "Lil B.more"

  27. First of all 1:57 you have it right that the drug problem in Salisbury is worse than anyone knows. However you have no clue what your are talking about in reference to SPD Officers. As far as the prositutes go, someone needs to get on the commissioners and judges that continually let them out. They never get a bond and never get more than 2 months in jail. A sting was done recently and all the females were out before the arresting officers got off work.
