anon 8:58, no that is not WACO that is our the second amendment in full force, and the reason you are safe in this country. Did you know the Japan never attacked the mainland with ground troops because many Americans had a gun? why is Iraq so difficult? Because they all have wepons to protect themselves with? Now that is a bad thing for soldiers but a good thing for the citizens, think in reverse what if they were here, how would you protect yourself?
I'm sure that a lot of those guns havent even been fired. Ignorance and guns cause gun accidents. It looks like he has gone the extra mile to keep them all secure. Would love to tour his "gun safe".Thanks for sharing with us Joe. Wished you had more pics.
“Considering that about 90% of all gun deaths in America are family and friends, his efforts to promote gun ownership leaves a hell of a legacy.”
Interesting statistic – where did you get it? According to the CDC.gov website, statistics show that in 2005 there were 29,684 firearm related deaths. Of those, 17,002 were suicides; which means that in 2005 MORE people died of SELF INFLICTED wounds than any other type of firearm wound (accidental, homicide, terrorism, etc.).
Tell me maker of statistics, if you use a firearm to kill yourself, are you considered ‘family’ or ‘friend’??
Maybe you should be more concerned about depression and where it leads than what a great American patriot has in his basement.
Charlton's war memorial for all those who served and gave their lives so that ignorant idiots like the few above and below who cannot see that their ability to even have freedom of speech, exists because Men and Women fought and are still fighting for them.
My observation is that he had a choice collection of the best War Guns, most likely all from places where they were used in action (Knowing Charlton, he'd have liked that idea:) and displayed with honour.
I'm glad other people understand the Right to protect yourself, and your country. I'm from Canada, and unfortunately we don't share that right. God rest his Soul.
Ha, @@#$@ing Libs they don't get my guns & in turn, I don't get your comments. When, not if, the time comes. Stay low if I ever need to protect my home as your running over here. Help me...help me..whoops, misfire! My bad the "gansta" friends you have would attempt to comment. Wait, word up!
Never mind, we'll be ready and waiting. Yes, some of us that are still "intact" reside on the West Coast. Read the 2nd & live it...
If you want to know why America is such a f-cked up country, known for its violent crime, obsession with guns, and anti-social right-wing nutballs, take a look at Charlton Heston's basement.
All _you_ need to know perhaps. As small a mind as yours will require less I suppose.
RIP Mr Heston. Over here in the UK shooters look upon your fine country with a mixture of envy and fondness. We're all grateful for the work you have done.
If you ever need to arm the home guard this would do,then again by the time all the do gooders are finished with your country (as is happening in my country)you and the rest of us might as well surrender now and get it all over with. Free men who fought for us helped me write this, and for that I thank you.
how could you say Charlton Heston or Americans like him(my collection only takes two and a half 15 rifle safes) are unsafe and shouldn't exist, Heston was President of the NRA for 8 years, during which he drastically increased gun safety and NRA membership.
I can say only one thing to the gun control people. Ted Kennedy has killed more people with his car than I have with my gun. I believe in the 2nd and hope it stays alive.
That is an awesome collection of firearms throughout history. I see nothing wrong with his collection, and if you came to my house, you'd see something quite similar in my basement(granted, not quite as big...lol), but still, dedicated to the firearms, and the men, who served proudly.
No on has stated the obvious. This must be one of many safes that Charlton Heston had. Note that all of the weapons are only military weapons and no pistols! He must have had one for civilian weapons and maybe one just for hand guns!
Yeah yeah yeah, and pencils cause wrong answers, and eating utensils make us overweight. More people die in automobile accidents every year than do on motorcycles. Have we outlawed cars. How many people die on the operating table every year or because of a bad diagnosis or being given the wrong medicine. Have we outlawed doctors?
Now THAT is what I call a gun collection.
ReplyDeletelooks like waco and should be treated as such.

ReplyDeleteI guess they cleaned up all the blood that dripped from his hands...

I'd have a lot of fun with those toys. Thats some collection. Good for him. I hope this collection does not fall into unappreciable hands.

ReplyDeleteGuns don't kill people.
ReplyDeletePeople kill people.
I'd sure like to have that M-50, talk about security....yeeee hawwwww
ReplyDeleteAnon 8:07am You are absolutely right.
Very nice collection and safe. Charlton Heston was a true American patriot. God rest his soul.
ReplyDeleteAs for the waco comment. How stupid are you? Obviously very stupid.
Cars kill a lot more people every year than guns. I guess we should outlaw cars as well then.
Wake up people. Guns do NOT kill people. People do.
Great collection... both of guns and made up statistics.
ReplyDelete"90% of gun deaths are family and friends" LMAO Some friends!

Guns don't kill people, they protect people from people with smaller guns.
ReplyDeleteShame they didn't get his cold dead hands into the pictures somehow.

To all those who object to shooting "on principle", I say: why not try it?
ReplyDeleteAfter all, you're always saying that when it comes to other issues ("how do you know if you've never tried [fill in any activity you care to name]")
Come on now. You know you want to!
Nice collection, owned by a law abiding collector and safely stored.
ReplyDeleteShame that our British government doesn't trust us to have anything like that, they regard us as criminals from birth.

ReplyDeleteImagine all the tree huggin hippies you could shoot with that collection !!!!
ReplyDeleteI think it is a great collection and took him many many years to acquire. I think he is a great example of what america stands for.

We all should have a cash like this somewhere.
This is not Heston's collection. It belonged to the late Bruce Stern. It is still magnificent. I especially like the little shooting gallery.
ReplyDeletetotally awesome
